They probably didn't see what was in his package because they had him through the backscatter X-ray device and were too busy looking at his "package", if you get what I mean.

Our tax dollars at play.

Melee is for when (targets = bullets + 1).

Considering the TSA thought my Pokewalker was a bomb last night, this does not surprise me.

I think this is appropriate:

Thinking about it, requiring 2-5 air marshals (depending on the size of the plane) put randomly in the plane in desguise would protect flights far better then any sensor that the TSA can make.
How are they going to stop a suicide bomber hmmm?
If he sees them setting up the bomb or whatever they plan to do, a few bullets or a taser shot will stop that person in his track.

Their is always ways around or through sensors and sequietry, finding the holes is what a terrorists job is. Being able to fight or hide what their doing from men trained to find and fight them is going to make their job a lot harder, and make it virtually impossible to take over the coppit.

You know those new body searchers people are opting out of they put in after that failed underwear bomber? THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DETECT THAT UNDERWEAR BOMB.

Seems odd, really.
Thought the same thing... then I also thought how long till we see him being fined hundreds of thousands for bringing a loaded gun on a plane?

The TSA is like that, they screw up and to sort of hide the fact they fine you for their mistakes. If it was me, I would of... well first wondered where the loaded handgun came from but after that I would of kept my mouth shut. Last think I would want is the FBI turning up to my house to ask all sorts of needless and invasive questions then to be fined for the pleasure of it all.

I think the TSA was too busy groping some poor man, woman or child to look at the scanner.

See this is fucking ridiculous. They want to molest passengers and make them go through scanners that shoot radiation at them, but let's bot bother checking their bags.

Fuck you TSA. You take away our basic human rights and still fail to do your god damn jobs properly.

I for one won't be getting on any planes until the government gets its head out of its ass and replaces these worthless clowns with people who can find a simple loaded gun in an otherwise empty bag!

alright, well here's a suggestion for TSA. just tell everyone who comes into the airport, "No bags, no make-up, no clothes. Just get to the airport au natural." and give them a little pouch to house their ID, money, and boarding pass. Then when they get to their destination they can buy new clothes at the airport store for 10x the retail price because there is no way in Hell anyone would just walk out of the airport without clothes. Oh you can even have security officers standing outside the doors and fine them for indecent exposure if they try to leave without clothing.

are you happy now? Is that what you want?

yes?

oh, I didn't have a punchline for that...

Yeah, my dad accidentally brought a titanium pocket knife into the plane, we never noticed until after we got out of the airport. Kinda scary if that can happen....

Wow. Are they really too busy looking for unconventional means of transporting weapons that they don't notice the obvious ones?

A) The TSA sucks. They violate human rights without making us more safe.

B) I am glad that Ferid carries a .40 S&W. It's a nice cartridge. It was crap when it first came out, but it has come a long way. When it initially came out the ammo developers didn't have the information they needed. Today, it is pretty good ammunition.

Because then the responsible parties can either be fired or otherwise adjusted into competence. It's more of a civic duty thing, IMO.

On topic: The thing that worries me most about this is that it isn't an isolated incident. Did anyone catch this part?

A person briefed on the latest tests tells ABC News the failure rate approaches 70 percent at some major airports. Two weeks ago, TSA's new director said every test gun, bomb part or knife got past screeners at some airports.
As I said when I initially found the article: Fuck the TSA and fuck how it lets the terrorists win by scaring us into justifying what the TSA does as "necessary" despite its nigh-criminal incompetence.
Nigh-criminal? I would say outright criminal. You accept pay to do a job, then don't do it when lives supposedly depend on you doing it, you are a criminal. It is called Criminal Negligence.

TSA, you win.
People yelled at you, saying all you do was unnecessary crap that violated our rights, but you at least had a reasonble defense.
"We go to these lenghts to protect you form harm"
And for a minute, I believed you.
But now I know for certain you were just fucking with us. You just wanted to grope people.
Successful troll succeeded.

Not that I disagree, but they haven't been decommissioned or even arrested yet, so the "criminal" aspect is still up in the air except by popular opinion. Can't wait to see what they eventually get charged with the week after an attack.
