The trial is probably for political reasons. The Human race finally has some power in the galaxy with a Human councilor and Spectre, then all of a sudden the Spectre dies and reappears two years later riding around in a terrorist ship. Then you go and blow up an entire Batarian colony in The Arrival, the Batarians being not all to happy with Humanity before Shepard killed a couple hundred thousand of them.

With this sort of situation any sane goverment would put Shepard on trial.
I suppose so. But again, Spectre's only answer to the Council. I'd expect them to at least have the trial on the citadel with a heavy Alliance attendance or something.

So we have Wrex, Liara and Garrus? And Legion? I couldn't care less about Kaidan/Ashley, but if we get Tali too (I'd happily swap Kaidan/Ashley for her) then that's all my favourite team members and none of the ones I disliked. That's awesome!

Jack and Jacob not being mentioned to be returning? THANK YOU BIOWARE.

Legion, Mordin, and Wrex coming back? THANK YOU BIOWARE.

Garrus coming back? That's cool..... [sub] but no mention of Tali with him is making me froth at the mouth [/sub]

Depending on your choice in Mass Effect 1 the council either has a, or is made up of Humans, so I assume they could pull a few strings.

Sucks.

Donkeys.

...

Oh fuck it.

Whoooooooo! Wrex and Liara are back! Well... possibly.

And now I'm going to have to determinedly stick my fingers in my ears and hum loudly for the rest of the year. Oh joy.
I cannot think of any reason for ME3 to suck. The very worst it could do is be just as good as ME2. Unless Bioware's offices get hit by a meteor.

Hey hey hey wait wait wait. The first game so did NOT delve too deep into the RPG zone, it was hampered by the worst UI in the existence of mankind. It made the most rudimentary of inventory management tasks an exercise in memory tests and excess scrolling. Beyond the most annoying and repetitive interface ever, it had a lot of promise.

My favorite additions are choices in which weapons you pick, and modifications.

I'm actually excited for this game, which has never occurred before this point.

RPG middle ground sounds pretty goddamn good right now.

Stay the course Bioware, and don't you dare lie to me.

My Shepard says the following to the starting scenario:
"I am a Spectre. I will answer to no earthly tribunal.
I am free to act as I please and I will answer to none."

They certainly go down the Dragon Age 2 route as in your choices and the world we created can be changed as the devs and writers deem it fitting

I'm hoping that we get to see more of the political character which made the first game's universe such a gem to me. ME2 gave us plenty of culture, but it shoehorned the politics that made everything about Shepard work, in my opinion.

But my best assessment on the series would be to divide it into three motions: Mass Effect was about the threat and introduction, and Mass Effect 2 (should have been) about the arrival. Thus, the third can be about the total war between the organic species and the Reapers. Everything's been cleared up, Bioware - you don't need to dally time to build any more tension. Just start with the war.

i can see why that would happen to Sheppard in me3 knowing what happened in 2 it makes a lot of sense. oh the reapers aren't real then what the hell is that mass hallucination i doubt it.

If they don't bring back Miranda, Jacob, Tali, Thane and Jack then that's a bit of a kick in the teeth for all of those who romanced them; especially considering the game basically tries poking you in the back to romance Miranda as a Male Shep.

Let's hope for some real decisions this time around. No retcon's please.
