Another thread said that Shep starts off on trial for their actions in arrival. I'd probably feel better going into that as my paragon shep than my renegade one :p

In other news im glad i can deal with errant Husks up in my face a bit better than flailing my sniper rifle widly and hoping grunt saves my ass.
I really wanted to slap the Council in the face in Mass Effect 2, I mean come one, Shepard and his entire goddamn team have been fighting, and have seen, various Reaper things and I seriously doubt that an entire attack on a planet (in both games) can be over looked.

I really want to like the game, I really do, but I am getting a bit worried with the franchise. Keep in mind, I'm not die-hard Mass Effect, or even BioWare, fan. I got both Mass Effect games for sale on STEAM and plowed straight through both of them, and they were both fine games. But Mass Effect 2 didn't feel as, I dunno, epic as the original Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 3 seems to be going that route. I don't think BioWare are "dumbing down" the experience, but I do think they are severely simplifying it.

But whatever, I'll wait until I see some definitive gameplay of it. I'm still cautious, but I of course want to see what happens next after all :p

EDIT: Oh, and I am interested in the DLC, I'm just too much of a cheapass to get them. Have there been any sales or whatever for the DLCs recently?

In addition to the new class, the existing Engineer class is getting the ability to build turrets in the heat of battle, which will no doubt spawn an endless stream of TeamFortress 2 references.

...

Finally, perhaps the most exciting (and to me, potentially the coolest) part; unconfirmed reports that space battles will be possible.
Well, that settles it. It's perfectly acceptable to be excited as hell about ME3.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are Commander-Mother-Fuckin-Shepard. You eat Krogans for breakfast.
But even Commander Shepard does so with modern weaponry and for all his/her cybernetics, his/her fists don't count as ones.

50 bucks says the Illusive Man was indoctrinated by Reaper tech salvaged from the base.

(Weather it was destroyed or not)

See this is why I blew up the fucking place, prolonged exposure to the Reaper Larva remains would have ended the same way as the Derelict Reaper.
Damn straight brother! Taking over any reaper installation is clearly the stupidest thing anyone could possibly do. Twisting a justicar's nipple seems reasonable by comparison.
...although I suppose if you destroyed the base he could just be after you for disregarding his orders and then basically giving him the finger when he tries to chew you out for it.

As for me though; advanced melee puts us halfway to my ME3 fantasy of manually throttling Udina in-gameplay (a cutscene just wouldn't feel as satisfying). Hooray!

Actually it's maximum is 7/7 if you have all the DLC.
But anyway, while I used melee somewhat in ME2, melee-centric class seems out of place to me. If there are long range weapons that work well, why bother with kickking, punching and stabbing the enemy to death when just shooting them is an option?

Personally, I wont be buying it because EA is... for lack of a better word, evil. I don't like with what they do and so giving them my money would make me a hypocrite. You don't tell someone "I don't like that you shoot stray cats" then sell the ammunition or complain about politics while at the same time refusing to vote. You loose the right to complain when you actively take part in the problem.
On the other hand, if the only people that know you have this stance are random, anonymous internet people who only know you as a random, anonymous internet person, then you can pretty much get away with buying any EA game if you want it bad enough. I mean, we'd never know. I suppose it depends on why you think they're evil.
Are you trying to round about accuse me of having no friends in the real world? I'm not entirely clear about the point of that part of your response was.

But I digress.

Well random internet people are who convinced me to begin with. I don't vote republican, I buy eggs milk and meat directly from farms who I know don't leave their animals wallowing in their on feces or sadistically cruel small cages like the way mega corporation farms do, I sure as hell don't buy from Walmart the way they treat their Chinese workers is so bad that it's illegal even in China not to mention the dozens of worker rights violations they're being sued for right here in America, and I do not buy games from EA because their marketing department is a bunch of rabid monkeys and the rest of the corporation is either too arrogant or too stupid to fire them.

I, and my friends, go against the generation x way of doing things.... which would be complaining about Walmart being evil racist, sexist, and soul crushing and how someone should do something... while shopping in a Walmart store.

I don't think they've added a new class, I remember reading the Game Informer article that said every class will be getting their own unique melee attack(s).
I hope the vanguard gets animation that involves ripping out an enemies skull and beating him to death with it. I do like a lot of how the changes sound, but I wonder what excuse they could have for why the illusive man hates renegade shepard. Hopefully you get to shoot him, or rip out his skull and beat him to death with it. He really doesn't give a shit about humanitty, he just wants power. Quite well demonstrated by his blatant disreagrd for his fellow man, not just aliens, often for very questionable reason. What useful data could you get by turning a threser maw loose on people anyway?

Imagine punching the reporter...

As for the base thing, your probably right. He's either butthurt you didn't save the base or a mind slave of Harbinger.

Though it would be cool if he ended up playing a role similar to Saren. Harbinger just isn't all that cool compared to Sovereign, and the series could use a big bad who isn't a hologram and a disembodied voice.

Hopefully sped up combat means quicker cooldowns for biotic and tech powers. And not unrealistically fast animations like DA2.

damn you bioware, i have other things to do than play your games.
now i have to play through ME3 at least 3 times: with my paragon adept, my renegade soldier and i just have to play the class that can built turrets, 200 hours of turret-building in TF2 can't be wrong.

the changes do sound nice, space battles and weapon mods are two things pretty much everyone would have liked in ME2, more variations to go from cover to cover sound nice since ME2 was a little too static for my taste.I generally don't like 3rd person chest-high wall shooters but the abilities of the different classes (even if it's just bullet time) really made shit more interesting. Now if they just add a little more RPG elements(meaning opportunities to pend my points after leveling up) maybe some passive skills for weapon handling and xp for killing enemies i will be happy.

Way to only say 360 and PS3. Let's forget about us folks who prefer our Mass Effect on the PC.
Hmm, whenever I see a game that doesn't have A PC version (which is a lot of them these days) it is all but guaranteed that someone will come along and say "WHY AREN'T WE GETTING A PC VERSION?!?!?!
It used to be a bit funny to watch people get in a twist about it, but now it is just seeming so damn prevalent that it is actually getting annoying, end of the day, PC isn't bringing in the money it used to, consoles are a sure bet, and a comparatively small portion of the console crowd gets in peoples face about things.
God's Clown pointed a genuine mistake, since, you know, there's a PC version as well (it's in the Eurogamer link itself). No need to act like such a smart ass. Honestly, you console trolls are as bad as the PC elitists.

... turrets?

*sob*

I'm... I'm so happy!

It would be just perfect if you could somehow cross-class... my infiltrator/engineer Shepard could finally come to glorious life! And pshaw -- pshaw, I say! -- on the enhanced melee abilities. While you melee-loving miscreants are murdering with your meathooks, I'll be sniping and cackling over the downed corpses of my enemies who never saw me coming. Hah haha hah!

... I need to play through the first two games. Again.

Wha? No, I just meant that sometimes I make a big stink about things online, but then I just give into them anyway because no one would know, since I don't have the same conversations/debates online that I do with my friends, many of which are not avid gamers. Like how I bought Rift despite saying I wouldn't due to it being a bland WoW stepchild. I wasn't trying to insult you.

Forgive me, but EA having lame marketing doesn't sound as bad as those other things. I'm not suggesting you change your stance, I'm just saying I probably would have picked some examples that made EA look worse in comparison, not better.
