Personally, I wont be buying it because EA is... for lack of a better word, evil. I don't like with what they do and so giving them my money would make me a hypocrite. You don't tell someone "I don't like that you shoot stray cats" then sell the ammunition or complain about politics while at the same time refusing to vote. You loose the right to complain when you actively take part in the problem.
On the other hand, if the only people that know you have this stance are random, anonymous internet people who only know you as a random, anonymous internet person, then you can pretty much get away with buying any EA game if you want it bad enough. I mean, we'd never know. I suppose it depends on why you think they're evil.

So they aren't releasing it on the PC? :/ I have an xbox so no massive drama but the PC is where my save files are...

I have to say though this made me a bit calmer. I had a bit of a mini panic attack ealier today when I thought...'oh god what if they just 'lol impound' the Normandy and make it on Earth ala Kirkwall' :| The humanity.

It did make me smirk a little bit signing onto cerberus network with my EA account oh the humourous comparison.

I wonder what kind of ass-pull they're going to use to turn the Illusive Man against Shepard. I figure he has to be pretty happy about Renegade Shep, having a shiny new Collector base thanks to him after all. As for me, I'm glad I saved the Council first time around because ME3 will hopefully provide the opportunity to rub their faces in this.
I dunno. It seems easy enough to me to provide one set of explanations that make sense.

Paragon Shepard: Blew up the Reaper base and told the Illusive Man to go fuck himself. Illusive Man is pissed and wants to kill Shepard for that "betrayal."

Renegade Shepard: Left the Reaper base in tact, Illusive Man goes there and gets indoctrinated, and the Reapers are having him try to kill Shepard.

Also, use spoiler tags when discussing the end of the game man!

"faster and more intense combat"

everything dying in 2 seconds wasnt bloody fast enough?! say what you will about ME1, but at least it had some god damn pacing...

yeah, ive pretty much lost what little interest i had left for the ME franchise. i didnt want to spend one mission on earth, let alone FUCKING NEW YORK FOR THE 1,284,731,907,589 TIME. i kinda thought the point of a space opera was to be everywhere but earth, which is why i like the sub-genre...but alas, ME tries more and more to be gears of war, so they contrive some excuse to trudge through brown rubble land. melee class? wh...why?! did someone ask for this? are the 6 perfectly-representative-of-all-gameplay-options-classes not enough now for some reason? who the hell plays sci-fi to be generically kung fu-ing stuff? is everyone immune to shotguns now? heave the reapers cloned bruce lee?

making the plot about earth is really the killer here...if its any more than a prologue/tutorial, i just dont care. earth can fucking burn for all i care, shepard is supposed to be traipsing the galaxy finding cyber-cults and mercenary hideouts, blue chicks and ancient machine gods, not being the 50-billionth asshole to defend earth from ambiguously evil aliens.

Mass Effect is coming out on the PC, so don't fret. Our vastly superior, mod-friendly platform with both community and official tech support will be getting it.

On the Collector Base thing; I played as a Paragon Shepard, but I said "Fuck you BioWare and your ridiculous dichotomy system" and salvaged the Collector's base. Then after that, after me being such a goody two-shoes, everyone on my team suddenly went "Oh, I don't think you should have done that, the Illusive Man can't be trusted". Even the people on goddamn Cerberus said that!

So, yeah, fuck you BioWare for essentially boiling down a complex decision of "Should we risk salvaging this ship for vast amounts of information or should we destroy it to prevent a possible disaster?" to "Do I want renegade or paragon points?"

Other than that, looks interesting. I'm still a little apprehensive about the game, I want more RPG in my RPG shooter. We have plenty of shooters already, let me upgrade my stats and deck out my weaponry and/or armor. Also, how the hell do you quantify combat speed?

I think alot of the choices you make to be a paragon will come back to bite you in the ass. Everyone is like ooooo you shouldnt have done that, short termm but long term it could be the right choice. For example take those asari on the citadel who were said to be geth for example, they gave me the creeps you get paragon points for it but i was bit like should I have let them go?. I think alot of the renegade choices could aswell though. Rachni queen and the geth might show up at the last minute to save your ass wearing SR2 hats. It could happen.

Or maybe I'm just extremely paranoid.

Oh, and can we please set this straight, right now. HAVING GOOD COMBAT DOES NOT MAKE A GAME ANY LESS OF AN RPG.
The ME series has good games, but are they really RPGs? 1 barely counts as one and 2 isn't. I doubt ME3 will be one. That doesn't prevent it from possibly being a good game.

I'm fucking sick of New York. Can we please explore other destroyed cities please? Like Berlin, or Paris, or Chicago, or Montreal, or anyplace else?
I say San Diego, plenty of military installations, it would certainly be a strategic place to fuck up, plus it's awesome and purrty.

Stupid Illusive Man, I helped that mother fucker out every chance I got and he is going to come after me?! Fuck that, he's a dead man!

I really want to know what was wrong with the ME one system, or even the ME 2 system. We seem to be moving farther and farther away from what it started out as. Is like...every triple AAA, amazing game going to eventually be going the Resident Evil route? Make a couple good games and make the rest increasingly like an FPS from a different angle?

I made Shepard an expert in knife fighting and Eskrima in a fic I wrote. So...yeah a Shepard that knows how to handle himself in hand to hand is not far from my mind.

Pshaw, I say that completely BS and BioWare doesn't have enough integrity in their balls to go that route.

It's probably just going to be if you went paragon you'll have an easier time to unite whatever with some consequences, if you went renegade most things will bite you in the ass.

Seriously, if there was no Paragon/Renegade system and every single choice was based on how you wanted to choose them, the Mass Effect games, I think, would be 10 times better. So many of my choices, especially in Mass Effect 2, boiled down to just choosing the top option for Paragon points. There is no benefit for choosing how you want, you can only go full paragon or full renegade to get any sort of benefit and it needlessly splits the game's content in two.

Another thread said that Shep starts off on trial for their actions in arrival. I'd probably feel better going into that as my paragon shep than my renegade one :p

In other news im glad i can deal with errant Husks up in my face a bit better than flailing my sniper rifle widly and hoping grunt saves my ass.

Ya... melee class just sounds kinda out of place. Forget all about the tactical sense of charging into gunfire so you can punch out a baddie, it just seems out of place. And what about that age old adage "never punch a Krogan"? Unless they make it a dual shotgun/biotic/melee class I just don't see that fitting in with the Mass Effect feel.
