Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood actually seems like a pretty noble cause.
But are they really this ignorant? Surely the problem is that McDonald's is trying to make its unhealthy tripe of an excuse for food seem appealing to humans who don't know better.

Not that the toys used to do so may instil violent impulses. PETA syndrome..Good cause, really bad execution.

I'm sorry, from recovering from side splitting laughter, I hadn't really given this article much consideration.

I mean, how could I? I'm a brain-dead product of evil corporations poisoning my mind with images of glorified vioence and the entertainment contained therein. I grew up in an age where game ratings didn't show up until I was seven, Nintendo Power was showing kids the splendor or killing simulated human beings, and the R rated staple of my childhood, Robocop, had an animated series.

Fucking dumbasses...

I really think that these people need to find a suitable reason for their aurgument. I don't get where they're coming from. I watched loads of superhero movies and cartoons. My dad watched them with me and explianed eveything, so I wasn't stupid enough to try stuff at school. The action figures are harmless to my eyes.

Superheros? SUPERHEROES!? What's wrong with you Mcdonalds!? What's next, DBZ?

Won't somebody think of the children?
Hey yeah! Burger King have DBZ toys in their kids meals back in the day! I bought them, even though I was technically too old for kids meals because I was such a fangirl back then. I still have them. They're on my bookshelf, collecting dust. I don't recall any sort of controversy behind that! Why the sudden fuss about superheroes? It's not like it's unprecedented!

Agree'd, bring on the 20 pages of fury!
I'm only just starting to get into drawing those, I'm terrible at the moment :(

This thread is a month or two too early.

So they're okay with Kung-Fu Panda toys with super kicking action, but Spider-Man climbing a wall is considered bad?

I mean it's not like they're giving out Hitler toys, it's just flippin' superheroes!

If I could wrap my children in cotton wool and lock them in a cupboard not only would they not be exposed to anything that could harm, hurt, humanise or teach them, I'd have a lot more time to play video games.

Violent PG-13 movies? Don't people say "keep it PG-13" when they don't want anything potentially "inappropriate" to happen?

What a bunch of loons. Seriously, I like to try and think of everyone's perspective here and think that they may have a point, but no.

These people are idiots.

Fuck you and shut up, I want my Captain America action figure, it's been a long time since I embraced my "Happy Meal" side of life.

Without a doubt, this is the worst case of Critical Research Failure ever. It goes beyond rediculous to form something altogether more astoundingly stupid.

How can they have not seen all of the superhero stuff aimed at small kids? Someone should tell them that A) Superheroes exist outside of "violent PG-13 movies", B) That there are plenty of superheor lines aimed at younger kids, and C) that not all superheroes are The Punisher or Rorschach.

I was going to post a response yesterday but my browser screwed up...

To cut a long story short, I actually agree with the CCFC. Having done research in a college psychology class observing preschoolers, having grown up with a brother who liked to reenact ancient Egypt and Roman battles (i.e. upon me without my consent), having watched some of my little cousins grow up... I think the CCFC has a bit of a point. Sure, they may be a little alarmist or extreme, but not nearly as much as half the responses in this thread. I think people need to remember that children are much easier to influence than adults, and if you look at all the stupid things adults and world leaders have done...

There *is* something to be said about toys offered to children. I personally think Leon the Professional offers a lot of good moral points, but I certainly wouldn't show it to kids.

Also, googling CCFC: http://www.commercialexploitation.org/
"Tell McDonald's: No Clobberin' Time for Preschoolers"
Sure, the letter's a little extreme, but the entire article on the CCFC site is less than a page long. Yet we can still get 8+ pages of rages over this? There's more important things to get upset about, which goes to both the CCFC and a lot of people in this thread.

Is that from when the Black Ranger was Johnny Yong Bosch and the Yellow Ranger was a black woman?
I'm not sure. I just grabbed it off Google images, so I don't know where it fits in the timeline. It looks like it may come from one of the earlier episodes, though, so if I had to guess, I'd say that it's not Johnny Yong Bosch et al.

Oh no, they're promoting something where criminals are always stopped from committing their evil acts! What's the world coming to?!

Seriously, CCFC. Fucking grow up. So what if those franchises have violence? It's not like the kids are going to spontaneously get Wolverine's claws or Human Torch's pyrokinesis and start fucking killing people.

Where do the children know about the toys they want if there aren't any commercials for them to look at? Live in that grey room boy! No fun for you!
