How can everyone always have such strong opinions (usually in contrary) to everything??

have you been on a forum discussing that since like...forever?MerlinCross said:I sense you're either reaching or projecting here.
I think she's doing just fine (and she's funny)...women and attractiveness/comedy in relation to sexism and society is a whooole other can of wormsSilentpony said:Oh Melissa McCarthy...you poor, poor woman.
Someone really needs to sit her down and explain she was only liked in Bridesmaids because she was the Ugly One. Just like Maya Rudolph was What's Her Face, Rose Byrne was So-And-So Kristen Wiig was Cheerleader!
Oh yes good to know that these 4 women are the peak of what the female gender can do physically.Vault101 said:woman are not such delicate things they break from wearing a slightly heavy

I apologise if I read your intention wrongMerlinCross said:But hey, you keep injecting your thoughts on other people.
Eh decided to bring it up since the guy I was addressing was trying to either inject or mock the whole "women can't wield swords" thing that is currently a thing. Perhaps I tried to hard and seemed believable. To me if people would bring up "can't wear photon packs" which he was the first one to do so(here. are people actually trying to claim that elsewhere?), I couldn't see it because there's so many different ways to get around it, several which I listed. There's no logical reason to say they can't be ghostbusters just because of the pack.Vault101 said:its just that (typically) whenever something to do with feeeeeemales comes up everyone has the urge to nitpick the hell out of everything (ie: fitness levels of the actresses like that's effing relevant)
Nods Respectfully Towards You said:Wait, people are saying shit about photonpacks? I mean a sword/combat I can understand, but carrying what is essentially an over-glorified backpack? Don't think I've seen anyone making this argument outside of your facetious one.
This guy. Maybe I went overboard with this bait. I mean yeah I let myself get baited but maybe there actually is someone out there thinking that.RandV80 said:A female Ghostbusters team doesn't make any sense... women can't even wield longswords, how the heck are they going to manage a proton pack!
Ah, but of course, it's because it has women in it that makes it gimmicky ... as opposed to the fact that it's a reboot of an old film with its entire marketing based around the fact that they have gender swapped the characters for no reason other than to gender swap the characters.Vault101 said:obviously...devations from the accepted default (ie men) is a gimmickFirstNameLastName said:Put me down for team "this is gimmicky as hell."

Yes sorry there was that Dragon Age: Inquisition article on Friday refuting people who apparently were complaining about how unrealistic it was for women to wield long swords in the game cause long swords are so heavy and whatever, so I couldn't help myself hereMerlinCross said:Nods Respectfully Towards You said:Wait, people are saying shit about photonpacks? That and I think I suck at satire. Or mocking, or whatever I was actually trying to do there. I think I was trying to make fun of trying to bring that argument into a different topic.
But didn't that show fail? Or not get anywhere near the number the REAL Ghostbusters cartoon got(I mean it's actually called "The Real Ghostbusters")Gordon_4 said:snip
Yeah. It's not the fact that they are women which bothers me. It's the fact that;Frostbyte666 said:1. If they wanted to increase diversity why not have a mixed gender team to show true modern day sensibilities on equality?
2. Since 2 of them were involved in Bridesmaids I expect the 'comedy' to be utterly utterly awful and cringe inducing (even if individually they are decent comedians) and will put it in the same barrel of rotten apples that includes movies like The Hangover.
It's called "The Real Ghostbusters" because of trademark-leeching. In short:MerlinCross said:But didn't that show fail? Or not get anywhere near the number the REAL Ghostbusters cartoon got(I mean it's actually called "The Real Ghostbusters")Gordon_4 said:snip
I'm praying they switch it up to;TheRightToArmBears said:So Wiig as the protagonist, Jones as the tough black woman, McKinnon as the ditzy pretty one and McCarthy as the funny one? Inspired, truly.
To be clear here, I'm not bitching about diversity but I'll eat my own face if they don't all fall into those particular archetypes.
