I'll have to pass on this, I've seen animated web-shows with way better voice acting and just plain better audio quality than this. And they had virtually no budget compared to the escapist.

The story idea does seem like it's just something quick someone made up, and said, "let's make it!"

The trailer fails to capture interest at all. Only giving the impression of bad production, one writer, no good voice talent, someone recording audio with a store bought PC microphone in a padded room, and a couple guys who know how to make jerky flash animation.

While it's true that sometimes the actual show turns out to be better than the trailer, just the production value shown by the trailer is pretty low to me. Yes I know I can't expect Pixar quality, and I'm not, but there's way better web-shows out there made by people with less resources than the escapist.

INBEFOREFURRYCOMMENTS oh wait...

Seriously though the internet and furries have destroyed the reputation of the majority of anthropomorphic characters, so you guys will be fighting to win over fans from the start which is... hmmm now actually! and there's a high chance it will stay that way.

I probably shouldn't do this, since it seems that the furry fans are the only ones with positive things to say about this trailer, but Game Dogs is not about people who dress up like animals.

If I've just decimated our potential audience for this show, then I'll just have to live with that. Because it's just not - just really, totally not - about furries.

They're dogs. Who make games. They are not furries. Seriously.

Also, I can't believe I just made that post.

God damn the internets.

"Damn you all to hell!" /ChuckHestononthebeachattheendofPlanetoftheApes
wait, Did the Editor-In-Chief just double post?

*sounds of mind being blown*

*small rips appear in the fabric of reality*

Again, I am probably going to watch it, because it is my policy to give everything a (2.3.4.5)... 6 episode chance to let the producers work out the kinks (especially as the first few episodes are just character intros)

Edit: Just to clear up terminology things
furry: somebody who enjoys drawing/dressing up as anthropomorphic animals
anthropomorphic animals: animals who have been given human properties(anthro=human morphic=shaped, anthropomorphic literally means "human shaped)

furries =/= anthropomorphic animals, anthropomorphic animals are the subject of furry sites, but furries are the people who make/visit the sites, roughly the same as a statue made of lego could be called a builder.

I'm actually kind of surprised how much dislike is being displayed here when you people went apeshit over Unforgotten Realms.

Also to all the people pissing about: "furries" is also used to refer to the type of anthropomorphic animals furries obsess over. This should be common knowledge at this point (if you don't believe me, image search "furry" and tell me what you find). Mickey Mouse and other similar cartoon characters aren't furries, because they don't have the same type of build as characters furries typically like. These characters are sorta half-and-half.

Now this is a rather interesting spin. So long as the animation and voice acting gets improved after this trailer.

It was a 40 second trailer....
A 40 second trailer that showed no promise of being different from Game Monkeys/VGCats/Every other animal-based game review show/comic that has ever been on the internet, no attempt at humour and an influx of furries to come watch it when it starts up...

Hmm.

I guess there considered furry because, well that Roger guy is wearing clothes and glasses and it is just disturbing me!!!! On the other hand, that Chet guy looks more like a normal cartoon ( I am referring to the ad mostly)
Not to single you out, but seriously, I have to ask -- have you never watched Bugs Bunny? Animaniacs? Countless Disney films? This is hardly the first time someone's put clothes on animals or had them walking and talking like people.

Those things are classics. But they are funny.

Trailers for funny shows should be funny. Trailers for action movies/shows should be full of action. Medical show trailers show some medicine... although lately there were no purely medical shows. And good, medicine is never entertaining by itself. Police show trailers show pursuits or again, action...

This thing? A bunch of dogs talking about making games. Yay.

I'll give this a chance but the animation in this trailer sucked and I don't think anyone understands why they're dogs either. At the same though, why shouldn't they be dogs? Wtf is the difference? This is looking like it will bomb but then Apocalypse Lane had some weak initial episodes only to become epic so I will definitely watch at least 5 episodes of this before I give up on it.

I'm not talking about whether or not you find it appealing as a show -- either you like the subject matter or not, ok, that's fine. I'm just baffled by the "OMG THEY'RE WEARING CLOTHES!!!!" reaction, as though such a thing had never been done before and was wildly offensive.

They did it, because animals are more appealing to kids. They wouldn't watch those shows if every single character was a dude or a girl dropping anvils on each other. Those shows you mentioned? The main target audience is 5-12. Sometimes one or two years younger/older. And even they have better animations than this... When you see Bugs Bunny talk, you see his lips move, and not just jaws clapping up and down.

Also, WHAT DO DOGS HAVE TO DO WITH GAMES?

Kids were most definitely not the target audience for Looney Toons, and Animaniacs always had a huge adult following. Disney movies, too, though you're right, those are definitely aimed more at children.

As for what dogs have to do with games...not much. But these dogs make games. They're special that way. :)

I don't care that its furry, i could be called one myself, but this really doesn't look like its going to be good. But Apocolypse Land had a bad start, and now its one of the best cartoons on this site, so i'll give this a chance

It's not that the show bases around anthropomorphic animals, it's that there isn't much hope for it.

Chet is a Mary Sue and Roger is the straight up guy who's going to clean up after him. You can't get much shittier and more cliché than this. The voice acting is god-awful, animation horrible and dogs are a gimmick (One of them is short but wears a long tie! Get it? COMEDY GOLD LOL!11).

Is it just me or does one of the dogs look like they were supposed to Steve Jobs?

Animaniacs were popular among adults too, but Looney Toons did have children as their target audience. Whom else? Adults? No blood or foul language or M material. Teenagers? No PG-13 material.

They were mainly funny gags, silly situations (without swear words or obscenity), physical comedy (again, nothing too serious). I don't see many adults nowadays watching those cartoons. Sure, if they are on and nothing better is on, I could watch Bugs Bunny or Tom and Jerry, but I'm not the target audience.

As for what dogs have to do with games...not much. But these dogs make games. They're special that way. :)
Sounds exactly like an excuse for a child's TV show. "Why is the coyote chasing the roadrunner? Because so."
