Congrats Bungie! Although I think Bungie is gonna have to find more places to store its piles of money.

And it was in competition against...? Gears of War? I'm sorry but I can't really think of many other big name 360 exclusives.
Gears of War sold more than any PS3 exclusive. So... yeah.
Yeah, and SC2 beat it in about a day, so go troll somewhere else 360 fanboy.
Yes, apparently pointing out objective sales figures is now trolling.

I'm gong to go ahead and say it again: Banning Halo bashers would increase the average IQ of any gaming forum by at least 50 points.
Yes, because intelligence is determined by your like/dislike of some generic FPS game, or series if you call remaking the same game 5 times a series. Grow up.

So there are enough of those to create $200 million in sales? Try harder next time.

Why does everyone think it's so cool to hate Halo now? I played Half Life two, I played Bioshock, hell, I'm a big FF fan (except for XIII) the point is, I've been around the block, I'm not one of those people who plays two FPS's, and I've got to say, Halo is a really good game.

It's well balanced, fun, the AI is good, and it has some of the best multiplayer in history. Seriously, forge and theater are massive innovations (at least on the console side)
I hope you're talking about the enemy AI in Halo, because whenever I play any of the 5 games, my teammates are retarded (excluding Noble Team).

What else are people going to buy?!?

There are a handful of exclusives and a niche market for Kinect. Every other person who isn't Facebooking on their 360 is playing Reach. And for good reason, too. It is overall a highly polished, well-made, and downright fun game.

I am referring to the enemy AI, but if you take notice, the marines are actually not very stupid, they just do so little damage and have so little health that they're useless.

I can see why, but the game came as a bit of a disappointment to me. Online is terrible, if anyone on your team leaves, their place is not filled by someone else, I ended up fighting 4 other people single handedly the other day. (I still won)

Why say it again when it's not even true? Halo is not perfect. People can find plenty of reasons to dislike the series. It's a matter of opinion, not intelligence.
And making fun of others by pretending to know what they're thinking? I suggest you quit before you really make a fool out of yourself.

Gears of War sold more than any PS3 exclusive. So... yeah.
Likely to change in November though ;)
I own both, so I'm not talking crap by saying this, but what's releasing in November that you think will sell more than Gears? LBP2 or Gran Turismo? Those are the only big exclusives I know of for November for the PS3, and I don't see either of those outselling Gears. You got some info on a game I haven't heard of?

If you don't know of another game, then if God of War and Metal Gear Solid didn't outsell Gears, what makes you think either of those will?

Relax, they guy probably meant to say "one of the best"

Unless, of course, you are complaining that a large group of people doesn't have fun the way you do, and that they are inferior for buying a piece of entertainment. If that's what you meant, I agree with you, but for different reasons.

Why, exactly, do you feel compelled to defend naked trolling? I've noticed that not a single person who has taken issue with my claim has treated calling people who like Halo retards as anything other stating an opinion in a perfectly civilized manner.

No way it outsold Halo 3 THAT fast. It's barely been a weak. Halo 3 sold that much over the course of 2-3 years and I'm pretty sure it's still selling.

Then again, the fact that they didn't mention any numbers should have tipped me off...

On a side note, here's to hoping Yahtzee will review this tomorrow :D
After the first year or so however nearly all of the game sales were sales of used copies, those don`t count.

I'm glad to see that this thread isn't packed with anti-Halo goomers. Some people are bound to dislike Halo, and to each his own, but this series is both relevant and good, and I often get the sense that some people just blindly hate whatever happens to be popular. Good to see we're finally getting off this anti-Halo high horse, at least around here.

Anyway, congrats, Microsoft and Bungie. I'm loving Reach and I'm glad to see it's selling so well.

Just some simple math...

$200 million in sales.
$60 per game.

$200 million/$60 = 3.3 million total sales on Day 1. Impressive, at least.
That's not exactly the case, since there's the limited edition for $80 and the legendary edition for $150. So what you actually have is a number of sales somewhere between 3.3 million and 1.3 million.
