Exactly. The Sonic franchise was ruined years ago. And in my honest opinion, the Halo franchise was ruined when Halo 3 came out. Now we get a bland RTS, a spin-off that has the exact same multiplayer as Halo 3, and now possibly a Halo 4. *deep sigh*
Sounds ok. Master Chief is a pretty cool character, I'd like to learn more about him, if the next game could have some backstory on him.
Or have him crash on that alien planet you saw if you beat the game on Legendary.
He would have crazy adventures n kill aleins n stuf and no afrade of anything
I'd be more interested in Master Chief had a personality. Or at least highlight his LACK of personality. He's such a grey lifeless bowl of soup in Halo 3.
i really hope they arent thinking of milking halo for more after osdt halo wars (playing right now BUNGIE FIX THE GOD DAMN THRID MISSION WHERE THEY RUSH BANSHEES)
They won't do a Sonic with the Master Chief, because with Halo Bungie and Microsoft have stated at various times that they have fleshed out a proper expanded universe and know exactly what they are doing. You still get logistical problems, of course (look at the Duke Nukem Forever style delays in the comic series Halo Uprising...), but the story of Halo has been stated as being a very much controlled thing and something that nobody at Bungie or Microsoft want to see outstay it's welcome. They'll keep releasing new content and media for Halo as long as they still have a story to tell and the fans keep on supporting the series, but the series isn't only about the Master Chief. With Halo Uprising, the lack of Master Chief was a major criticism of fans and critics alike, but the series has generally been praised for focusing on other characters outside the games (half the novels don't even include a mention of the Master Chief at all, and one doesn't even include any Spartans...). Basically, I think we're safe with Halo for now.

Now if only someone would say something about whether or not we'll ever see Sgt. Johnson [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Halo_characters#Avery_Johnson] again.
Avery J. Johnson still has quite a bit of backstory to look at, but we saw a lot more about him in the prequel novel Contact Harvest, which keen-eyed fans will notice is set on the same planet as (albeit 6 years prior to) Halo Wars. It's hinted at, but never explicitly stated, that he was a Spartan in a project (Project Orion) designed to be a precursor to the Spartans that the Master Chief is a part of. That is, while the Master Chief is a Spartan-II, Sgt. Johnson is a Spartan-I. However, I agree that I'd quite like to see more of him in the future. More prequels maybe, after
his untimely death by Sparkey near the end of Halo 3.
Quote in spoiler box to avoid a huge wall'o'text...
I can confirm now, without any possibility of denial, that Sgt. Johnson definitely was a Spartan. Not a Spartan-II, but a Spartan nonetheless. Here is the link to the Halo Wiki page if you still don't believe me, and all of this information has been confirmed in Contact Harvest as well as by Bungie and Microsoft themselves:
Also, with the Master Chief and Cortana drifting to an unknown planet (according to the after credits bit on Legendary), there has been fan speculation that the planet may well be Onyx (a place featured heavily in the novel Ghosts of Onyx, set during the events of Halo 3). Have Bungie or Microsoft released any information yet regarding that?
That would be interesting, but sadly that isn't possible. The Forerunners were wiped out, they built the planet Onyx as well as several others (as yet unseen) as shield bunkers where they could hide and be unaffected by the Halo's blast across the galaxy. They would then return when the Flood died from starvation. However, they never used the shields, as the Flood got to them before they could reach those planets. This is revealed in the Terminals found in Halo 3, as well as the novel Halo: Ghosts of Onyx. The reason humans are seen as the Reclaimers and the descendants of the Forerunners is because they were seded with the Forerunner's genes and blessings when the Halo rings were first fired. They were protected by the fact that Africa is regarded as the cradle of human civilisation, theyw ere moved to the Ark (another shield) for a short time by the Didact (the last surviving Forerunner, she died of old age shortly after the Halo Array was fired).
Wow...thanks for the clarification, mate.
I'm not nearly as caught up on the whole Forerunner lore as I'd like to be, which is a shame because it's paramount to know the events that occurred thousands of years before the events of Halo to set up the conflict you play through.
I used to like to think, after the Monitor's last, crazed spiel, that Humanity itself was actually the Forerunners...which brings the whole underlying mystery of the series to a kind of shocking, but satisfying end in a cyclical kind of way...at least to me.
Also, thanks, you saved me the trouble of reading Ghosts of Onyx...now for that Contact Harvest book and the Halo graphic novel...
