I'm shivering in anticipation(and pants-wetting fear) for this new mob.
But regarding moving blocks around, I was thinking that since it doesn't seem to carry tools, it can only break blocks that can be broken by hand(and be broken at the same speed as by hand).
So it can go through dirt, sand and wood easily but will have a hard time with stone or stronger.
At least that's what I think(and am hoping)
If they can punch through Rock and iron o_O

Do you know what'd make it scarier? If there was a 50/50 chance of, when looking at an Enderman, he will either kill you, or give you a cake.

I wonder what it would drop.
Maybe he would drop the end(ermen) of the game?

Also, why is the captcha a goddamn Subway commercial!?
In a game like Minecraft ending the game would be one of the worst things that could happen. Thus making them truly scary.

Also the Escapist runs, at least, two different capatcha services to see which is better. There have been a lot of complaints about reCapatcha using too many non Roman characters.

I think the mob is completely unfair. You look at it and that instantly triggers it's attack phase? And it can teleport? Unless the mob goes down in one hit with any type of weapon, it's insanely unfair. However, it might work if the mob appears only every 15-30 Minecraft nights.
Its probably pretty easy to not put your cursor on one.

I think it's fair because it gives minecraft a new scare element to the game and your not supposed to be out at night anyway since all the other mobs are about and since you can easily "chop chop, stab stab" the current mobs it appears easy at the current state but add the Endermen and you have to think twice about what your doing and where you are going like how if you don't look at them and try to move past them you are chancing yourself a possible confrontational attack thus making you think twice about moving around at night.

1. Stare directly at.
2. Walk slowly towards, maintaining eye contact.
3. Set on fire.

I see no flaws with this plan whatsoever!
This is precisely what I was thinking. But, I use fire on anything I don't understand in minecraft. :D

excuse my double post but, that kinda the point. Its unfair that an enemy teleport, but not that it dies in one hit? Also its your fault for starting it, it will only attack if the cursor is over it, and it will die in one hit because it to scare people. BTW i think now would be a good time to get a gun mod...with bullets i mean lots and lots of bullet.
Minegunner; because its classy in a brutal manner. Not weak about its class its about as direct and strong as an oncoming semi. Manual reloading, powerful, one shot to kill, already staring at him so you probably won't miss.

Wouldn't it be interesting if he disappeared in a cloud of black smoke or dust upon death?
silly the grim reaper appear behind it and tells you, "you're lucky i'm here" and pulls him away. later in the day, a giant crater or side of mountain is blown up if you check it out, their is a sign that say, " this is why you owe me one" sign death.

I knew there was a reason I created piston-powered window-shutters for my castle.

As well as reinforced stone blocks that slide out in front of my doors...

What? I'm not scared, I'm just prepared...

You should play Amnesia...
I got it on Steam about October last year I think.

So far I have played exactly 20 minutes of it, I should really just man up and play it sometime.
I only recently got it myself, only had a chance to play about two hours of it. I can't play more than 40 minutes to an hour at a time, but really I just haven't had the time, what with Uni resuming and all that. Still, it is masterful how well the atmosphere is conjured.

The bed will become the number 1 most used item...

Anways, I really hope this monster can't debuild stone blocks, as I would be pretty pissed if they were to debuild my castle...

Slenderman never has and never will scare me, so on that level, Enderman won't scare me.

If anything it'll just startle me when I'm not expecting it.

I think it'll be a great addition to the game as well. :D

I think I'll be startled by Enderman's teleporting a few times, but nothing too serious. A recent blog post stated that the whole "locking eyes" mechanic will only occur if you settle your crosshair on it. Besides, it will probably be killable, so as long as I have a weapon and armor handy it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I've never been that freaked out by Slenderman anyway. Slengineer is more frightening:

Honestly... that seems a bit unfair. And the fact it can hold blocks makes me worry it'll be able to just deconstruct your buildings for the hell of it, otherwise holding blocks would seem pointless. I just hope he adds the option to turn off individual mobs with the update. Plus, having this would make having windows in your house or building not worth it due to danger. So basically... bleh.
Apparently it can only move Tier 1 blocks. IE: Sand, dirt, and MAYBE wood. Although I really hope not. I like my wooden house.

But I too worry about my windows. I LIKE having lots of windows! :(

Hell yeah.

I'm a bit worried about them messing up my projects. I have some things built out of sand and what not, and them moving a single block could be disastrous.

If they're gonna mess with my stuff, then I think it's time that...

No, bad idea IMO.
Stop adding shit stuff, Notch, and starting adding all the majorly cool shit in mods like the Aether and Better Than Wolves.

"herp derp blar blar ignorance etc." If you want that content install the mods and quit insulting his company's original, quality work.

OT: It looks like a very nice addition that'll really bring a new sense of tenseness to the game - even more so than your standard 'the creeper is probably right behind you' sorta deal.

The fact that it can move blocks I find rather interesting.. It makes me think since this is implemented (for mobs to move blocks) one would imagine NPCs doing the same, maybe increasing the size of their houses after you help them out by bringing them materials or something, who knows. ^^

Hell, you know what would be really creepy? If you saw one, then turned and ran, and it teleports in front of you. Scare the living shit out of you, that would.
Read the blog post... they already do. To "help orient the player", apparently.

"GODDAMMIT, NOTCH! STOP PLAGERIZING!"

"GODDAMMIT, NOTCH! START ADDING THE GOOD STUFF WE SEE IN MODS!"

Here's a novel concept... you could download the mods you want YOURSELF, and Notch can continue adding whatever he wants. As is, the only way Notch can please the fanbase is to ban modding capabilities altogether until he's done development. Not a good idea? Well, it would certainly kill the double standard everyone holds him to.

What I meant was that he'd already copied mods with Pistons, I thought since the ideas were so good and since all the programmed code is, I assume, already there for him to get hold of, he could easily implement the mods officially, and trust me, he will copy mods again. Not that I'm complaining, I was just saying it'd be nice if he made them official, get them the recognition they deserve.

And I'll insult it if I want to, thanks.
'Original'? Seriously?
The name itself referenceres the creepy internet meme of which it was copied... Slender man.
It's characteristics fit it as well.
I just don't see it as much of a game changer, more of an irritating annoyance.
When there is so much stuff in mods that can add layers of new, varied content, it annoys me that instead we are given a mob that can pick up blocks and teleport.
That sounds not challenging, but annoying. You'll notice it taking down your base, then fight it, during which it'll teleport towards you very quickly.
Wow. How fun. Something new to piss me off.

Excuse me for wanting new things to construct with as opposed to yet another enemy to irritate my building.

I never said that. I could care less if he copies things, as long as they are good and fun, not irritating.

What? No way does everyone hold him to a double standard, and how would that please the fanbase? It would just piss them off. As I said in answer to the other guy to reply to me, I'd just like to see them made official, seeming as they are so good.
