I sorta figured this was going to be a thread made to give more ups to Dwarf Fortress - (by Bay 12, freeware, CHECK IT OUT) -...

As a Minecraft "competitor" Terrania looks... not as good as minecraft. As a 2d platformer/builder/rpg/action/exploring game, it looks pretty swell. Reminds me of Liero meets Castlevania in a good way.

I'm surprised all the Minecraft, DF and etc fans can't bury the hatchets they're carrying for each other and all mutually hate Fortress Craft:

I don't see what's wrong with fortress craft though, it looks like minecraft except not written in java so that automatically makes it better (fuck java)

Ok, the fact that it is virtually identical to Minecraft doesn't bug you? I mean, in the 2d game, I can see why people think it's a minecraft clone, and I can see why people think it isn't. But Fortress Craft can't possibly be anything but.

I have watched the video. I can confirm it looks, and this is the technical term, "fucking pointless". Especially when you can run Minecraft using some pubic hair, a rock, and a hamster running in a wheel.

Sorry I forgot, improvements are pointless, all that matters is graphics and that they are 3d

Well, there is World Explorer on iPhone, but don't buy it. It's basically classic mode, but just not good.
Didn't Notch in a comment about World Explorer say he was interested in iOS devices?

you are dismissing me? i mostly only come here for zero punctuation, and the news section, and recently extra credidts. I only post in the forums if something interesting catches my eye in the recent posts.
i was just impressed with the video, imagine if they could put that stuff into minecraft.

Why not just play Minecraft?

There are many reasons that a 2D Minecraft might be preferable to a 3D one, and vice versa. Personally I'd love a 2D Minecraft.

Edit: Just watched the video and it looks nothing like Minecraft :/ Why people are calling this a rip-off is beyond me. It does take a few mechanics from Minecraft but atleast it innovates upon them rather than just being a carbon copy like the 10+ other Minecraft rip-offs.

God, 3D/2D sprite version of dwarf fortress. PLEASE, I can't tell what the hell is going on in DF. It sounds cool, and I like 2D games, but even I have limits.

No graphics for Dwarf Fortress please. This is a game where I have to figure out the controls for spitting out someone's nose after a fight. I'd rather not see that rendered.

(Unless you're talking about tilesets. There's plenty of sprites for DF you can go and download already)

Meh, I'd much rather the concept and robustness of DF be preserved and easier to access with a better GUI. Or rather with a GUI at all. It's just a hard game to get into overall and the lack of a visual interface that's easily understandable makes that even harder. I'll try it again later when I'm feeling masochistic. I mean, it is a game you can't win after all.

It actually looks pretty interesting; however, all you've done is created a thread with no discussion value. You came only looking for praise for the game and reject any opposing opinions.

Really though, the game reminds me alot of those classic maple story style FTP MMO's, but with crafting whatnot worked in, and as long as were jumping on the but its like minecraft wagon, minecraft is fairly slow paced, and the enemies exist more as a threat to keep mind of, this game looks like a full on 2d action title with building elements, its more than different enough to set itself apart from the mega giant.

Im keeping tabs on this game for sure, looks really, really fun .

Note: At the risk of getting quote insulted like the rest of the people here, I'm not insulting minecraft at all, Im just complimenting the OTHER game, there is a difference, and different people have different preferences for their building games.
