Pretty good, I do like it, but I feel it needs a lot of work before I can fully get into it, maybe more challenge to it.

What I really like about the first days of Minecraft is survival, but when you've got a mob-proof base, tons of food, good equipment and a mine, I feel it is too easy.

I'll start jerking off Minecraft again once the Zombie Siege game mode is released, with its constant constraint of time and danger, comes out.

But it has a nice mod userbase to it. Get it, it will just raise in price, and it's really fun with friends.

The only game element of MC is killing monsters. Everything from Baldurs Gate onwards does that better.
If you seriously believe that the only game element of Minecraft is fighting monsters then there's no point in even beginning to debate this point.

In the time it takes to make a crap looking block fortress you could easily learn 3DS Max, make the same fortress to a much higher quality, import it into a number of games, and probably still have 50 hours spare compared to the mindless resource harvesting and incredibly slow process of making anything.
The average person could do all that in a few hours? I know I couldn't. I don't know my way around 3DS Max at all. Minecraft on the other hand...

I know what I'm talking about - do you? Logic isn't based on ignorance.

Do your sanity a favor, don't argue with him. He's been up and down the March Madness threads, putting down Minecraft and praising 3DS Max (which, really, is comparing apples to oranges). He even got a week's suspension for, what was it, calling someone mentally instable to be a parent because they play Minecraft?

He'll never change his mind, no matter what you do. Move along.

Moving onto personal insults. How nice. I'm out. Enjoy your being rude to people.

I'm guessing you have never tried 3DS Max ergo your entire argument is based on ignorance.
Yes, the average person could do it in a few hours, easily. Why couldn't you? Unless you have learning difficulties, you can do it.
If you are going to try to argue the point, make sure you know what you are talking about.
Okay, I just have to point this out.

Price of Minecraft: $21
Price of 3DS Max: $2,995.

Maybe he hasn't tried 3DS Max because he could buy 142 people Minecraft with that money?

3DS MAx = free for students
Blender = free

The two are infinitely cheaper than Minecraft.
Free for students is the catch. How many students sign up for a class that allows them to use 3DS Max? And Blender is notorious for it's unfriendly user interface.

Chuck in Morrowind for $5 and you still save $15 and have a better game and far more powerful construction tool.
...

Never mind, my brain just returned to my mind and remembered why I don't want to argue with you.

Let me just clarify this:

[HEADING=1]3D software editing programs =/= to a game![/HEADING]

They're immensely different, yet you cannot stop comparing the two groups every four seconds!

I like Minecraft as a place to go blow off steam when another insta-kill wastes the 2 hours of game play i just did. it does take time to get used to but when you play for a while it can be enjoyable. Because it grows the more its out its varitey becomes greater.

I haven't played it, I've had some problems getting my bank to get the fucking payment to go through, but i support independent developers too much to pirate games, so i'll be patient.

That being said, regardless of how much i enjoy it or not, i support Minecraft. It's nice to see a real creativity toy instead of a half-assed level editor.

Yay for me. Its fun with friends and fun if you like playing by yourself. Can't go wrong either way, unless you hate building things.

Its free for students to download, not limited to your class.
So the construction part of Minecraft isn't a game then?
So then shouldn't those people move on to Blender or 3DS Max?
I've been staring at this post for a bit now and I'm wondering where you pulled that idea out of...

Minecraft if a glorified time sink, the whole create what you want thing just frankly bores me, I can mod, script and do abit of texture/modeling in 3dsmax why would I ever waste my time limiting my creativity in Minecraft when I could be learning more?

Ah I see someone else beat me to it yeah that guys right get the software and learn a skill that will aid you for life.

I like Minecraft. Don't think it's amazing, but it's fun to play every once in awhile.

Still, one thing that pisses me off is that Notch releases a small update every month or so. I really wish it would be more often, and wouldn't end up breaking the game for a few days or so. Seriously, since when was it newsworthy that a game added weather to it?

Yes I play it, but recently only on the Survival Multiplayer Servers. I haven't touched the singleplayer since the alpha.

Nay, nay, a million trillion times NAY NAY NAY NAY NAY NAY NAY NAY NAY.

Minecraft is the worst game I've ever played. By far. I love legos, I love adventures, I love retro graphics, I love crafting, but

MINECRAFT

Hm it sounds kind of interesting and I could be creative but I wouldn't feel any sense of accomplishment if there was nothing to complete and the game is never ending. A lack of story doesnt sound too intriguing either.
Notch is supposed to be adding achievments in the next patch.. that would give you something to work for and you could always show off your work.. especially on youtube, They love it for some reason. The views should make you feel accomplished

Lol sure. Well, let's see...

-It doesn't tell you what to do, but some people claim that that means that you can do whatever you want.
--Doing whatever you want in that game is still not fun for long
-Finding minerals is a ***** when you start out
-Dying is really really REALLY easy
--Even if you don't die you'll be spending the night underground, bored.
-The day and night cycle is too short
--First 3 or so times I tried it i died on the first night because I didn't know what to do
-I know they're supposedly "charming," but the graphics are TERRIBLE
-The gameplay isn't much fun. Randomly chipping away at blocks
-The music SUUUUUUUUUUCKS. I can't stand it.
-There are way too many enemies, however
--Peaceful mode is just boring, not boring and frustrating

...to name a few :p

Truthfully I just like building shit, like automated farms and stuff but then again my computer is trashed and can't play anything including that so I only play it like once a week so I probally don't get bored as quick and I already have a lot of ideas and such from Videos and stuff so its easy to focus... I can see how you could hate it though, I probally would too if it wasn't a rare treat
