Might of been said already, but I don't feel like reading 7 pages to see if it has, so here we go:
That rape is about sex. It's not. It's about power, control, fear. Sex is just a "bonus". But everyone fixates on the sex part. That's why you have what SHOULD be clear-cut cases ruling in favour of the RAPIST because of bullshit reasons such as:
1. The guy is already married, so why would he need to rape someone?
2. They already agreed to have sex before/they're married/she's a prostitute! -No still means no, you dipshits. Just because you've had sex with someone before, or you're married, does not mean they have approval to have sex with you whenever they like. As for prostitutes, they deserve the same treatment as anyone else, but their proffession more or less guarantees that they have no chance to see justice. Which is one of the reasons I think it should be legalised, but that's another rant entirely.
3. But they know each other! -Most victims know their rapists
4. She was wearing sexy/slutty/skimpy outfits so she was- STOP RIGHT THERE, SHUT YOUR MOUTH, AND DIE IN A FIRE. If you seriously think that an outfit means that someone DESERVES to be raped, you should remove yourself from the population immediately.
There is way more bullshit like above, but I think my point is made. There was a case in my city where a judge was a total dickwad and basically made comments of "blah blah she was wearing skimpy clothing blah blah she kinda was asking for it blah blah", (although the case was ruled in the victim's favour) and their was a HUGE shitstorm over it. So we're changing a little bit, at least, but not nearly enough.
I'm going to end my rant now before I break my laptop in rage.
