The knife distance increased by like a foot I don't know what everyone is complaining about. :( It was a pretty average perk nowhere near as bad as One man army or noobtubing.

I agree with you about Juggernaught and Second chance, but what's wrong with Ghost? I'm pretty sure they have personal radar jamming technology and other stealth devices IRL.

Combined with Lightweight, Marathon and Tactical knife, it was pretty good. It also ruined the flow of the game.

Actually if I remember correctly, if you held a care package and used Lightweight you could run at like 30 miles per hour.

I'm glad commando has been scrapped, it was bloody unfair that people could teleport from a good 10 or so meters away and knife you in the face.

One perk i do want to see go is stopping power. It's worse than juggernault in my opinion. If you don't use it it was basically like everyone else was using juggernault, and anyone else that was using it made it really hard for new players to get any good becasue everyone was killing you in around 2 shots. Black ops did good by removing this perk, made the game so much more customisation friendly.
So, your saying CoD wasn't better when they didn't HAVE perks, didn't HAVE crutches for players and didn't HAVE classes? Crutches are perks, its less about who shot who, and about who's perk magicked the bullet into the nearest nostril. I played the original CoD's online [1-3] and easily was a much better experience because you actually had to PLAY THE GAME and improve to be good, while now its just, OH I GOT THE SUPER CRUTCH 5000, NOW I CAN KILL EVERYTHING, thats why so many kids are online, because its too easy to be good.

I only ever used Commando for the Pro benefits, but then I stopped using it because people thought I was one of the tac knife morons.

There's bad balance, and bad game design. CoD's Perks falls into the latter, EVERY COD GAME has had bad perks that are completely overused and overpowered. So, why have them in at all if can't balance them properly?

EDIT: every COD game since 4. (in before smartass that smugly says 'do tell me what perks were there in CoD1?')

What's the problem with ghost? No one seemed to complain when it was UAV Jammer, Camouflage or Cold Blooded.
It's a perfectly legitimate perk and tactic that's only seen a major growth with the removal of stopping power. Which I'd quite like to see put back in. Doesn't affect balance too bad when juggernaut is there aswell.

I say bring it back to CoD1: you choose 1 of 5 or so classes and that's it.

Ya know what, im fine with the perks.

I stand by my point that the second you introduce variation into a game theres never truly gonna be full balance due to those change in variables having one always being more/less than another. And in this case, modern warfare has done quite well with it. Compared to some other games ive seen (Im looking at you, TF2) where balance is out the window, they are at least looking at the huge perks and making them smaller.

If I wanted to have a game with no perks, no knifes, just guns and have to accuratly control the movement of each of my individual legs and my bladder, I would choose a more simulation based game. However, im fine with my chaotic brawl with items. Im fine with my mario kart with bikes, and im damm sure fine with my CoD with knife flinging, n00b tubing and spam sniping.

That crap should have been taken care of in the first(only?) patch in MW2. They gain no points with me on this one, they are just doing what every game company ever is expected to do, but really late.

It is so easy to avoid being stabbed if you check your surroundings. No matter how fast they run you can easily shoot someone before they stab you if you just stay alert. The best thing about knifing is that is is so easy to kill campers because they just stare in one direction like idiots.

I was the same as you, but then I realised it was necessary to keep a toob class to deal with several threats. Excess snipers, excess toobers, etc. It is very satisfying to fire a toob into a sniper nest and get 4 kills for it. the underbarrel is a beastly weapon isn't it

I wonder if people would prefer something like Counterstrike's melee system?

The only way to insta-kill with a knife it to stab the head or the back of the torso, while there is no "lunge" and it takes a fraction of a second to draw the knife.

But still have a dedicated melee button.

1) tac-knifing with commando was a bad thing for them to install, tac-knife is ok but commando went to far... literally.
2) quick scoping has already been fixed they said.
3) dont flame a weapon because you cant use it (flamers against bolt action snipers).
4) they need to weaken the blast radius of the noob tube to fix things.

Juggernaut helped against noob tubers, Ghost pro is alright and help snipers hide ( I have no problem when a good sniper kills me ), and second chance pro should be removed, its quite overpowered for a perk... more so than the commando perk.

Fix these problems and im all good with CoD, this is MY personal opinion, you may have a different opinion but this is mine. dont flame me.

Knives never really bothered me. I barely used them, but when I did it wasn't using Commando. Almost always Ninja Pro, because then I didn't NEED the extra lunge, because they didn't know I was coming.

One perk I seriously HOPE they've gotten rid of is One Man Army. Seriously, noobtubing is acceptable to me, but NOT when they act as fucking artillery with infinite grenades! Its just ridiculous!

EDIT: Oh, and hopefully quickscoping, to COD4 difficulty. Yeh, its possible to quickscope in CoD4, but not many people ran around JUST quickscoping, like they do in MW2.

I know CoD is always an arcadey game, but having sniper rifles as CQC weapons irked the shit out of me.

Good to hear, but I doubt it will be balanced still. They should go back to the CoD 2 way of doing it: one hit kill, but it's much harder to hit them.

If they want to make stabbing have more substance in CoD they should change the mechanics to allow different effects depending on where you stab someone from.

If you stab someone from behind, it should have a little animation resulting in a 1 hit kill.
A stab from the front or side should require a couple of hits.

Aw, I loved those Commando knifers because you could hear them charging from a mile away since you can't use both Commando and Ninja Pro (silents footsteps).

Lets get rid of guns while we're at it. I'm tired of players who get accidental kills from their finger slipping on the shoulder button and getting one hit kill headshots from it!
