How is Fun Space Game: The Game going? I just wonder, I was liking the updates. If you've got a life and stuff then that's cool. I guess.

it's strange I bought Halo 3 2 years ago for £10 brand new, in Argos (and never understood cause never saw it that price ever again!) but me and my friends played that game for literally until Modern Warfare 2 came out and even then a couple months latter we was back on Halo 3 again, and it worries me how already, we are trying to find other games to play =/ does worry a little in terms of how good a game is when it can stand the test of time...but moving on.

Reach seems a little...empty to me...maybe I bought Halo 3 at a time when all their plans had been sorted, so I had updates etc, but looking at Reach... I really don't see it lasting long at all in terms of playing with my friends =/... I mean I know Yahtzee is anti-multiplayer but to be honest, I really don't blame him.
I could rant some more but I wont =/

Yahtzee was probably not a man who played Final Fantasy XI. Guess he wouldn't have liked it.

Nice article, telling that the game was refreshing but still mediocre. Trying not to make a GTAIV mistake again, eh Yahtzee?

Calumon: I thought he was the real Layton!
Nothing you say ever makes any fucking sense.
So you did not understand it...why bother replying to it ?
Personally I think Jack and Calumon is one of the most fun posters on this site. :)

This is nothing new guys. He always ignores multiplayer. I don't entirely agree with it, having some great experiences playing multiplayer, but he lays it right out there. Therefore view the videos as simply a scathing critique (and it is always a critique) of any given game's flaws when played single player. Always. Even if it's Super Smash Bros.

Zero Punctuation videos are not reviews, though they like to pretend they are. They are author tracts of the highest magnitude, focusing not on whether the general audience will like a game but whether Yahtzee alone likes a game. And guess what, they're still fucking hilarious. So stop getting your panties in a twist about whether one person doesn't like a game and just enjoy the comedy. Or stop watching if it truly bothers you so much.

No no. Please go on. By the time I decipher what you just said I'll need another good laugh.

Well I'm wearing an undershirt, and I guess I don't look best in white.
Still I might get reach after about 12 other games I care about way more.
Also, I agree with hm on multiplayer. I might play multiplayer once or twice on a game, but only games with really good multiplayer keep my attention. I tthink all games should have multiplayer like Quake 3: Intense music, pace so fast you could vomit from motion sickness, and the weapons are perfectly balanced againts each other.

I enjoyed reading XP, as always. I find it funny how there are some fanboys and haters here, each having their own points and such, but whats funny is how some are basically saying how Yahtzee has only started this so he can get traffic and us discussing this in the forums......

Hook, line and sinker much?

Anyways, Im not much of a fan for Halo, I don't have anything against the franchise itself but its never really been my cup of tea. If I have to play an FPS the likes of Doom, Timesplitters, Half-Life and Painkiller are more to my liking.

Ok, call me a fanboy, because I probably am, but he's already stated that he hasn't followed the series and this is a fan game. Bungie would've been happy not having to do another Halo if people had shut up about it. The Spartans aren't meant to be relatable, and they were trained to die if need be to give a significant advantage to their team members, all of which is covered in those wonderful little books that I'm sure Yahtzee refuses to read. I'm not saying Halo Reach was perfect, it's far from, but I think Yahtzee is letting his own personal experience(or lack thereof) and feelings get in his review. I thought Halo 3 was the pinnacle of the series and has since gone downhill. It would've been a lot better if they'd gone with ODST's or Marines, because most people I've talked with are tired of playing as Spartans. They've been predictable since before Halo 3 when the first book series came out. I hope this isn't the last in the franchise since I'd like to see something done outside the Spartan story arcs, and maybe it'll be fresher since it won't be Bungie's child anymore. Maybe something along the lines of playing a Marine from his first deployment out of boot and taking us through a career we can choose depending on what our preferred play style is.
So instead of being a steroid pumped super soldier, you would rather play as a Marine. A man, who without all the steroid pumped super soldiers running around, would be dead ten seconds after stepping onto the battlefield? Why not just play Call of Duty then?

Personally, I can't relate to anyone who regenerates health by walking over a health pack, or anyone that only jumps 10 feet in the air as opposed to the 40 feet Spartans seem to manage. If you change it to a marine, it would just feel like ODST where your Stamina's basically your shields and your health is your health. You're still taking about 20 shots before you die, so you're still a steroid pumped super soldier.

Oh, nice use of one of Shamus's "You have to know every detail from every form of media even remotely related to the game before you can review it" thing from his Fanboy Guide.

Lemme guess, you're a Cod fan that views Halo as the root of all evil. Allow me to explain my position a bit better. If I wanted to play in a sand pit and shoot at terrorists in a realistic setting down to the grain of the round, I'd enlist in the military. But since I want to play a sci-fi game where instead of being an unstoppable military juggernaught, you play as the underdog that's slowly but surely loosing the fight. I'm merely trying to say how the franchise can be improved instead of whining that there's another game out to compete with CoD. Realism isn't the most important thing to a game, I regard Bioshock higher than I do Halo, and the original Dark Forces, an old game you probably don't remember, was what first got me into the genre. MW2 was a very good game, but it wasn't perfect, particularly because I like huge battles to take part in, not get suckered into a half-assed stealth bit.

I do suppose, legitimately, that the only reason I hold halo in such high regard is that it isn't a realistic shooter. (and I put them on a lower level than I do cow shit)

Not everybody likes single player games. I don't play single player at all, ever. Therefore, all games must be judged on their multiplayer experience alone.
And not everybody plays multiplayer. In fact I'm willing to say that more people play single player. However, I believe the games should be reviewed based on both, as people that don't have the ability to play online multiplayer would want to know about single player.
I'm with you, actually. I was stating the inverse of Yahtzee's take on multiplayer to show how silly it sounds. I understand not taking an interest in multiplayer, but I am continually baffled by his stance of 'it's not relevant to me, therefore it's irrelevant' regarding multiplayer.
I don't know how many times Yahtzee states this through out his videos/EPs, but the thing about all reviews is that they are SUBJECTIVE. If Yahtzee says he doesn't review multi-player aspects of a game and you're looking for a multi-player inclusive review, then why are you continuously complaining? That's like going to a Toyota dealership and being upset that they dont offer BMW's.

I don't play multi-player when it comes to console games. I actually prefer story or a good single player, so Yahtzee's reviews are actually very well suited to my tastes. If you don't like the way he reviews go find someone who reviews the aspects of games you want to hear about. Reviews are ALL subjective, whatever is said in them is never fact or all encompassing.

You know that they already did that in the game Halo 3: ODST? I mean I agree with you mostly but you can't complain that they haven't done a game that isn't about Spartans when they made a whole campaign specifically about ODST's.

I noticed that too, but what was Jorge's comment on "been hers half my life" about then? That would certainly imply she was his mother, or at least the person who looked after him half his life.

Interesting though, you think the pronunciation was off, while I think the subtitles are wrong :p
As a Spartan-II, Jorge was kidnapped at a young age and replaced with a flash-grown clone. He would not know his mother and it definitely wouldn't be Dr. Halsey. Of course, this is backstory, so for people who're just into run'n'gun and don't enjoy reading (like you, or Yahtzee) it's certainly wasted.

And yes, their training regimens are remarkably like suicide bombers. Both Spartan-IIs and Spartan-IIIs are fully prepared to die for their cause.

Yahtzee is just so tired and predictable. I'm sick of hearing him blather on about how multiplayer doesn't matter. It sure as hell seems to matter to a lot of other people.

I've grown so tone deaf to Yahtzee's profanity-laced ramblings that they start to sound something like...
I would imagine being tired of Yahtzee you would avoid his articles, and yet here you are none the less...
Could it be you are actually entertained?

A critique comes from a personal view, you can imagine that is affected heavily by his preferences.

Oh I do love it when people think Yahtzee is just stupid and open their mouths and give him a nice oppurtunity to show them how stupid they actually are.

May ZP continue for many years to come!

Why are so many people complaining about Yahtzee not liking to play online multiplayer? Sure I play the multiplayer but I admit it's probably better not to a lot of people get stressed easily and I'll probably fracture my thumb on the mute button some time soon, it's just personal preference.

And to be honest i'm very much with Yahtzee, if you want to release a game which stands up on it's a multiplayer then you make a MMO not a series of FPS's if you want to do a FPS series you have to have a solid story behind it and to be honest we all have seen aliens attacking humans + earth before Halo haven't we?

I know this. I enjoyed it until I finished the game in 5 hours. I'm saying they should've gone back to that and made the single player longer.

Well I think that's more or less what they were trying to do with Reach. The characters in Reach are Spartans but they're early Spartans that Bungie tried to give some more character to. I would say that Reach is like a "Best of" compilation of the Halo games where Bungie have taken the better things from each game and tried to recreate them. They did a good job in my opinion but nothing's ever as good the second time round.
