Half Life series. It is a 7/10 (My spend $50 on a game threshold is 8/10) and people act like it is the third coming or something. 7/10 is still respectable it is just no great.

Agreed. I thought Episode 2 was one point higher, mind you.

I think Halo is overrated but that's obvious, Resi 5 was ridiculously overrated. I had more fun playing Resi 2...

Gears of War. Cutting things in half with a chainsaw secured to the end of a gun is awesome for a while, but when that's pretty much the only thing that sets it apart, it gets boring.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Look I understand a lot of people really really... REALLY REALLY like that game. but my god. I know kids that will hold any game up to Ocarina of Time's standards like its the pinnacle of gaming by today's standards.

If say somthing like Bioshock were put up against Ocarina of Time in a "which of these games is better?" comparison, right off the bat Ocarina of Time is the worse game. Why? because action games have evolved from solving the puzzle, to fight the bosses, to save the princess, to a more complex base for its entertainment value. like say, ways to manipulate the AI and the enviroment to fight eachother. An engaging storyline with small details within the game to make it come to life. even player decisions and customization.

Not to say Ocarina is a bad game, it's just one of those games that people blow out of proportion. The past is the past, and nowadays there are plenty of other games that are simply more engaging, prettier to look at, and almost better in every way. People should not set there standards based on a game that, by todays standards, is extremely mediocre.

Pokemon. It's like a dumbed down version of final fantasy, except when you try and fix the combat everyone goes ape shit because your "RUINING MY CHILDHOOD!!". Shut up and let them make what was designed to work on the original game boy work on something substantially more sophisticated. Seriously, a clever programmer could duplicate the game play in MS Excel (if you doubt me then talk to someone who went to college in south korea; they are crazy with that software). If you like the original game, wonderful, but please, let us try and improve it. The original sonic is still considered a good game, so what does that tell you?

World of Warcraft.
I hardly find grinding your bum off til level 45 to do the actually pretty cool raids and the like, which due to my laziness and lust for exploration will take me weeks or even months, appealing.
You know what they say about WoW "if your having fun, your playing it wrong."

DEFINATELY THE HALO SERIES!!! It's good but it's not down-right wicked awesome.. more like an 8.5/10 IMO. Halo Wars wasn't as great as presumed to be ... but it's easier to comprehend then C&C.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero are starting to get stale, and have gone into the DLC and small addon mode, releasing small packs of new content to their current games to keep people playing.

Burnout series is starting to take a turn for the worse as well, had some good games to start but now are just kinda mediocre.

Halo, yes I'm bringing it up, was pretty overhyped even with number 2, I mean it was nice they were working so hard on the multiplayer but the singleplayer was hurting badly in both 2 and 3, and in 3 it seemed a bit rushed like they said, "Ok we have to end this but how?"

FEAR, both 1 and 2 and all the little mini packs in between. They have some pretty simple things and the games work but, I, have to admit, most of the supposed horror was mostly stuff that jumps out at you and makes you jump in your seat a little.

Crysis. Both 1 and Warhead and most likely the new one coming out some time. Crysis was ok when it played smoothly, it even had some hiccups on 360, the gameplay on the first seemed like more of a giant display of the Cryengine, the time between engaging an enemy then moving to the next engagement was atrocious. Warhead was nice and it was what the first one should have been like but still just an ok game.

Right now that's all I can think of, was going to say the GTA series but thought against it, sure 4 isn't the best out of the series but it holds some promise though still pretty shitty how Microsoft said fuck off to the PC version making the DLC packs 'Lost and the Damned' and the new one coming out 'Ballad of Gay Tony' 360 exclusives.

Have to say, the Metal Gear Solid series. Really would like to have enjoyed them...there's a very nice polished finish to them...just can't get my head aroung Kojimas convoluted storylines and epic cutscenes.

Use the search bar. I've seen tons of these threads.
OT: Fable series, and Resident Evil 5. Both are good, but they weren't as good as everyone expected.
Fable one was a great, original action RPG experience. Fable II was exactly the same great slightly less original action RPG experiece mixed with living out your everyday life through a game (especially since you could only get cash from working) like.. wtf!?
For me the most overrated game would easily be Oblivion. I have no idea why it received such rave reviews. It was a first person, generic RPG, the battle system was far from dynamic and new. The spells, story, gameplay, and overall feel just felt to me like "been here, done that". Now I want "next".
This is hilarious, you say Fable 2 is a better RPG than Oblivion?
You expect people to take you seriously...I mean...really?
You're an idiot...
I said Fable was a great rpg experience, I then said that Fable II changed nothing besides adding a dog and letting you "live your everyday life".
