The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Giant's Knife. Or was the Biggorin Sword? I forget which one sucked. Remember how that went down? You spent all that time getting the bigger wallets to hold the cash to get the sword, FINNALLY did it, went "WAHOO!!!" and started hitting the walls until "CLANG!!!"

...

It broke... IT BROKE?!?!?

Obviously the most frustrating moment in that game. All the time you spent getting the sword, gone... Just like that...

Sniper rifles were next to useless in Mass Effect 1, though they managed to fix that for the second game.
I disagree whole-heartedly. Sniper rifles were awesome in ME1, you could oneshot any normal enemy, and assassinate Armatures with no problem. I think ME2 made sniper rifles way worse.
Thanks to AI quirks you could take down Armatures easily with any weapon though. My point was that 99% of the enemies in the game are engaged at ranges that make the sniper rifle impractical at best and useless at worst. I guess there were spots where you could choose to use it over, say, the assault rifle, but there never seemed much point to me.

the forearm blades, chemical laser, heavy rifle, rocket launcher, assault rifle, machine pistol, and plasma rifle in deus ex:human revolution

the M622 avalanche in mass effect 2, seriously. even the massively impractical M920 cain was more useful then that thing

The Portal Gun. :D Joking obviously, but seriously, the worst weapon I have used in a video game would be the Lightning Bolt cannon for the Deuce in Brutal Legend. Why on Earth would I use that slow firing hunk of rubbish, when I can have rapid fire missile launchers instead?

Any super powerful weapon with limited ammo in any game ever.
It have an aggravating tendency to cause the whole "I COULD NEED IT IN THE VERY NEXT ROOM" issue
EDIT: Or maybe that DLC gun in Just Cause 2 that fired air, I literally never found a use for it.

Since firearms are so common, I would have to say pretty much any melee weapon in Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas.
Not if you're playing NV on hardcore, where ammo has weight. Melee weapons are fucking life savers!
Or even if you're not playing hardcore, melee weapons are the most fun in every Fallout game :)

OT: Broadhead arrows in the Thief series. If you kill anyone you fail the mission, so what am I supposed to use these for?

Seriously though, the microwave gun in Crysis 2, WTF?
It only seems to work within 5 metres, takes like 10-15 seconds to do anything to the target!

I say the Soul Cube from Doom 3. That weapon, just killed the game for me. It made the game soo damn easy and it was just ridiculous and pointless they should've rather putted the laser gun from Doom 64.

The Mac 10 in Killing floor [if you have level 0-3]

i call the gun the 'Recoil 10'
Put it on semiauto and use Firebug. You now have a fire spitting dragon of incendiary doom.

Seriously, you can shoot the heads off most weak enemies from huge distances and let the bleeding/burning kill them off, or just bodyshot them and they'll burn before they close the distance.

The fist in Doom/Doom 2. It did like piss weak damage and since most of the enemies had some sort of projectile running up and punching them was a good way to get yourself killed really quickly. At least the chainsaw did half-way decent damage. If you ran out of ammo in Doom and didn't have the chainsaw, you might as well kill yourself right there 'cause trying to punch enemies to death was a waste of time esp. later in the game.
Two words: Berserker Pack. Your fists are now better than the chainsaw.

People are proberbly going to yell at me for this but I don't care;

The Gravity Gun.

Yes everything can be used for ammunition, yes its an impressive use of physics but I found it didn't have much of a punch unless you had a saw blade, difficult to aim and in many cases left me wide open to attack while I was trying to pick up something decent to shoot with from the piles of crap left lying around.
It's crap against Combine Soldiers, but good in Ravenholm, can be used for puzzle solving/crate opening and is good when fighting Antlions as the primary fire knocks them over.

The first rocket launcher in Battlefield 2142. I couldn't hit a thing with it. Normally, I can at least hit one thing, but no.

The Imperial Guard flashlight maybe? Shows the exact position of the guardsman and doesn't do diddly.

This. You're honestly better off punching zombies until you can find two pieces of cobblestone
Gold is now much quicker and does more damage than DIAMOND, only for shorter periods of time.

It's incredibly useful.

You know what is sad? I have a Strange version of the Boston Basher. Granted, I don't care to use it or play Scout very much at all, I just think the weapon looks cool. However, yes, I have killed myself many times with it.

It's odd how you can miss and hit a wall or the ground, and it won't make you bleed, but if you hit nothing, it will.

OT: I'm going to have to go with either the .32 or Chinese Pistol from Fallout 3. Easily.
