Play with Mart's Monster Mod and say that. The FatMan was essential with that mod.

Basically any weapon that had its job done better, and the gun that was better than it was available earlier.

Currently, all I can think of is the .357 Magnum in No More Room in Hell, a recently released Source mod. Less shots, slow firing speed, slower reload, less accurate, uses more rare .357 rounds, and I don't think you can use the Maglite in conjunction with it. The Colt 1911 is better in most ways, since with both, so long as you land a headshot (which is easy with zombies) you get an instakill.

So i ask you, in your opinion, what is the most useless weapon in gaming?
Persnaly i say the Chinese pistol from Fallout 3.
Nope, nope. The Staff from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. All you can kill is a bee. Not spiders, not people who come running at you they're on fire, not the asshole who throws bombs at you just a tiny stupid bee. For more info on this shitty game,

If you can aim, there is no use for the Needler. And every time Bungie released a new Halo, they said "We changed the Needler so it's useful now!" and it never was.

its funny. you two have just stated the two weapons in the halo series that if i dual wield them i destroy everything in my way and nothing can stop me short of the sniper i didnt see..and even he loses all his shields before i go down. those two weapons when dual wielded are bar none the most overpowered combo i could find dont know why so many people dislike them...although when used separately they are pretty useless

Ot: already been said but yeah splash from the pokemon games

The "Healing Staff" from the Final Fantasy series. Nothing... not a single damn thing... can be more useless than a "weapon" that heals it's target. Yes, it damages undead... so can normal weapons and especially holy/fire weapons that are equally damaging against non-undead (except those resistant/immune to holy/fire type damage). Yes, you can heal your team with it... so can healing spells, and healing spells can be multi-targeted. Yes, it's free healing... but you finish the game with 99 ethers, 99 high ethers, 99 turbo ethers, 99 elixers, and 99 mega-elixers so MP is a non-issue.

You know whats worse? The Experimental MIRV. It fires 8 mini nukes at a time and can only fire if you have 8 loaded. Considering the fact that it's pretty hard to find 8 mini nukes it makes it completely useless. Plus if you do manage to fire it it will most likely kill you anyways.

The Gravity Gun.

Yes everything can be used for ammunition, yes its an impressive use of physics but I found it didn't have much of a punch unless you had a saw blade, difficult to aim and in many cases left me wide open to attack while I was trying to pick up something decent to shoot with from the piles of crap left lying around.
As sad as I am to say this, you have a point. But there is nothing quite like firing an oxygen tank into a crowd of head crab zombies. Nuff said.

OT - I can't think of the name, and am too lazy to google it, but the second sword you get in Majora's Mask.
You spend a day getting it, then you have to upgrade or you lose it.

If anyone here's ever played it, turrets in Galaxy on Fire 2 are almost never actually useful. If the enemy is weak enough that you can deal with it using the turret, it's much faster to just turn around and fight, even if you're headed to a warp gate or something. Low level mining drills too, but those aren't weapons.

I'd say the impact hammer from UT3. I mean, when the player can carry around 10 guns at a time, why the fuck would you use a melee weapon? It says that the alt fire, an emp blast, can knock a powerup off a player, but you never use it because unreal tournament isn't a game where you get up close and personal, it's a game where there are big maps and people are content at shooting each other at medium range! You just never use it because there are *bigger* and *better* things to kill people with.
The impact hammer doesn't have to be used soley for killing/damaging people, it can also be used for trick jumping which can be invaluable when spawn raping in 1v1 and for doing cheese in nwCTF.

You'd also be surprised how useful the shield gun is in close encounters, though admittedly I'm speaking with no experience from UT3 and experience from UT99, UT2003 and UT2004.

I call the poke attack from Worms Armageddon, I think it took away 1 health from the enemy and just pushed him a little.
That was kinda the point. It's the worm's equivalent of beating someone with Dan Hibiki. You're not just killing them, you're killing their manhood.

I refute your claim!

Any massive-damage weapons with scarce ammo in single-player games. You are pretty much guaranteed never to use it, but to 'save for when needed'.

Hm...you're right. You always feel bad when you use it, thinking you just wasted ammo...

yes but it was always fun to poke someone off a cliff

I don't think that counts. You admitted it wasn't a weapon and the Normandy was very useful! It took you places! And prevented you from dying out in the cold vacuum of space (up until its destruction anyway)!

Two people mentioned Pokemon's Splash already, so I put forth Growl and String Shot. They never saved my pokemon. They just made battles feel longer.

Any melee weapon in a GTA or Saints Row game that is not a katana or a chainsaw.

Since firearms are so common, I would have to say pretty much any melee weapon in Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas. Also, if anyone has played The Witcher (the first one) you will remember that there are many weapons that "don't suit witcher combat styles"...Why would you use a weapon that clearly states that it is not as effective as your default sword?
My Proton Axe would like to have a word with you, even on a Guns based character the ability to dish out that kind of localized pain in a pinch is a real lifesaver.

OT: Thinking about it, the most useless thing I can think of is the Sun on a Stick in TF2, why the hell would a Scout want to use a weapon that's only effective against burning enemies when there are so many better weapons out there to use for melee?

Any weapon that requires you to charge it before you can even fire it. Doubly so if that weapon has a limited range.
