So even when they finally release a DLC map for it they still show how much they hate console gamers... D:<

Why Valve? Why do you hate us?

This may simply be a move by valve to counter the mass boycott, making valve look like the innocent party and thus discrediting thier opposition.

Still, looking foward to this DL.

Unlucky you poor poor 360 players....
So either a) They go back on their word and don't release new DLC for L4D1 or B) They're countering the boycott by proceeding to do what they said they would in the first place and this is a bad thing?

They're doing exactly what they said they would back when people were voicing concerns when L4D2 was announced about L4D1 being left for dead (Insert groan here).

Why Valve? Why do you hate us?
Because you smell funny.

Until then, why not try the Dead Aboard mod.(PC Only, sorry)

Possibly the most evil map I've seen :)
I downloaded it. Can't find anyone to play that map with.

Anyway, back on topic.

i am pleased by this announcement.
PILLS ARE HERE.

and all this complaint with L4D2 boycotters, Valve obviously made this announcement to placate them, since it announced L4D2 BEFORE the DLC. I don't see Bethesda announcing Fallout 4 before any of its new DLC, or Team Fortress 3 before the Scout update. thats all the L4D guys were protesting, the apparent abandonment of L4D for its sequel, since anyone can tell you about Valve, they devote ALOT of effort into making a new game, so the fact that they were already working on L4D2 would make any Valve fan ASSUME that no DLC for L4D is being made.
This. Plenty of companies have broken their promises to do one thing or another. Glad they didn't. But how many more DLCs will there be? Could this be the last one for L4D? I know, be happy that we're getting at least one.

The [22g] people have offered up their L4D servers to us, and they run that map afaik. Check the thread for IPs. We're still a little iffy on how to actually connect, though.

This should be good, albeit very short.

Good to see more official campaigns however, can be hard to find people with the download content you do. :)

Well this just proves that the L4D2 boycott'ers have no idea what they talking about. Anyway on topic I really look forward to this campaign, it looks very interesting and should provide a good few hours of game play.
Uhm.. how could they possibly have known they were releasing a new DLC? with their knowledge at the time, it seemed like a pretty reasonable thing to do. . .

There is no excuse for this, none whatsoever. I've got it for the PC, but I just don't find this fair at all for our 360 comrades.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this. I haven't played L4D in a while, simply because it got repetative. This might give me a few hours of extra playtime, only ranked up 26 hours.

Sweetness. I don't give a submarining phoque about having to pay. As the ravenous L4D fanboy I am I will eat this up!

Sounds good, I am very glad I bought the game for PC now.

Valve says their goal is "to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game's existing Versus campaigns."
This sounds like another way of saying "We made a really really short campaign so we can prove we are still dedicated to Left 4 Dead to stop whiners, but the reality is that it's short because we rushed it out to stop them complaining."

This is also true, it is extremely unfair to charge for DLC one one platform but not another. Especially as console versions of games are always more expensive anyway.

As a console player I don't mind paying for it as long as it's worth the investment. I also don't like mouse and keyboard controls so this isn't going to get me to buy it for the PC anyway.

The difference is that the 360 is runned by Microsoft and Steam is not runned by Microsoft.

Nope, I'm happy to see that they are doing exactly what we want - supporting the game.

But while they've made one group of people, they could make a LOT of people unhappy with the Xbox 360 DLC price.

Might make me play L4D again, but I'm still not going to buy L4D2 too fast.

Sheesh, maybe now all the "WITH L4D2 COMING OUT WE'LL NEVER GET NEW CONTENT!" pansies will shut the hell up.

I beg to differ, there's a good reason:

Valve: Alright thanks for sitting down with us, we have this new content for L4D

Microsoft: I hear you guys make good DLC, how much is this new content going to cost

Valve: Nothing we never charge money for DLC

Microsoft: ........ but if you never charge anything I... I mean you won't make money

Valve: I know but it worth it because it strengthens the relationship with our customers and thus we'll receive their money from them in the future from other products they buy from us.

Microsoft: ..... but you aren't earning any money for your hard work.

Valve: I guess we have different business models, we depend on our customers being extremely loyal to us and we earn money from them by letting them buy future products from us.

Microsoft: .... you do realize disturbing all this costs money right.

Valve: I know we have our own online service that were using for the PC version

Microsoft: But..... seriously I need a small amount of money per transaction for all Xbox live downloads, I can't just add this content for free.

Valve: *sigh* what's the minimum cost I can put on the marketplace for.
