"Oh my god, they're following through with what they initially and have always said? They're going to continue to support L4D1, even with L4D2 announced and in-the-works?!?

DOES NOT COMPUTE, LOGICAL ERROR, SELF-DESTRUCT"

The above was a dramatization of what every boycotter just experienced. The twits.

Now, I know everyone's opinion is valid and all, but come on. Aside from Indigo, who really thought Valve, of all companies, was going to screw us over? It's all very silly.

Well this is interesting. I wonder how the LFD fanbase will react..
They'll find something to whine about like gamers do with everything that gets announced. There is never good news in the gaming community.

Yet again, Microsoft proves its greed to its own gamers :(
Call it punishment for buying the wrong version of the game.

560 Microsoft points! Thats a bit of an odd number.. luckily ive got 560 points i cant spend anything worthwhile on.

But the free for Pc has decided it for more. As much as i dislike PC FPS's LFD2 will be on the PC for me.
Yeah, it is something of an odd number. Lemme see if I can math this out...

I just got Mothership Zeta (Fallout 3 DLC for those who don't know), which was 800 points. Each expansion was worth $10 essentially, so we have 800x = 10y. Dividing both sides by 10, and we have 80x = y. So every 80 Microsoft Points is $1. 560/80 = 7. So the DLC for 360 players will cost $7. Although since you have to buy points in preset packages, it might cost a little more if you can't find anything to spend those spare points on.

If you believe this a response to the boycott group, and its hard to see it otherwise
Yes because you clearly know how long they've been working on this. No wait, you don't. In fact I'm pretty sure you know less than nothing because you think the boycotters are an actual force to be reckoned with. Which makes me laugh. Heartily. Apparently you seem to think that Valve only has enough people to work on one thing at a time, and if that were true how are they able to work on TF2, HL2 Episode 3, L4D1, and L4D2 at the same time? Could it be that you're just scrambling to find a flimsy justification to make a group that would barely make a dent in the sales figures of L4D2 more threatening than they actually are?

I don't know the answer to that, of course, but I'm sure you do.

I don't mind paying a few microsoft points for this. I was pleased when Valve released the survival DLC that included a new game mode and the other two maps for Versus for FREE, after all that was content that should have shiped with the first game and Valve gave it us for free insted of doing what Capcom did for that Resident Evil 5 game mode.

Considering this is brand spanking new content I'm glad to pay five bucks for somthing new.
It would be ok, if pc gamers would be charged too. Now it's not ok, even though the campaign is relatively cheap.

I've never really let things like this get to me, but this boycott just pisses me off. I'll say it outright: people who continually complain about this PUT THE FUCKING GAME AWAY. Valve owes you NOTHING. Oh boo hoo, they're charging for it on Xbox. Welcome to Microsoft-land, Valve doesn't make the rules. They got a free pass with the Survival pack, Microsoft's not going to let that happen again now that they know there's money to be made.

Do you yell at the farmer because the supermarket charges for eggs? No, you either buy the eggs OR YOU DON'T. Simple. You don't boycott the farmers because the super market charges.

And they owe you NOTHING. Literally NOTHING. To think otherwise is to show how utterly delusional you are. It's clear now that nothing they do will please some people. It's a game, they're a business, welcome to reality. And I swear anyone says "I doubt Valve really needs the money." try going to a store and walking out with something because "I doubt they need the money."

Christ, grow up or turn the God damn console/computer/whatever off. They are offering a service you CHOOSE to participate in. Don't like it, leave. Don't stay and ***** until they change, then ***** when they do what you want from them. "It's too short, bwaaah" but God forbid they take the time to make something longer, because then "Bwaaaah, when will Half Life 3 be out, bwaaaaaah."

*pounds head on desk*
Yeah I understand they owe me nothing. I thought the boycott was absolute bullshit at first. But the fact that the dlc costs on Xbox and not on PC is wrong. I don't really care or know who's fault it is. I mean I haven't gotten any Team Fortress 2 DLC either, so I feel that something is wrong.

I pay more for my 360 games, because I got used to a game pad earlier than the keyboard mouse combo and I like my easily working voice communication and having all my friend's there. But I'm confused now. I don't know what to do. I want the same treatment as the PC gamers, but I would like to have the same services as in xbox live.

Now I'm not sure how steam works. If it has the same properties with friends, voice communication and gives me a chance to play with a controller, I'm willing to invest. If it doesn't, then I'm going to step on the retard train and start randomly boycotting everything.

Gotta love more L4D content. Something new is definitely a good thing after the latest DLC is on the edge of being played out.

Who said the new one was coming out a week after this was released? Release date for L4D2 I think is November, not September.

As for the boycott group, well, like I said when this whole thing started, it must be a nice place to argue from - Valve doesn't do what they want, and their cause is justified because what they say is true. Valve does something like release DLC and their cause is justified because Valve is "listening" or "responding" to them. It's a pretty impenetrable place until you see that Valve had said all along that they were going to do things like release this DLC. As I had said,my core problem was not allowing Valve the time to keep promises and jumping to horrid conclusions, something which is proven more wrong with stuff like this.

Being wrong on the Internet is given so much fear by people. Everyone makes mistakes and is wrong at some point in their lives - I'd honestly be more afraid of being blatantly wrong in front of people who know me well than the faceless anonymity of online persona.

As far as I'm concerned, the boycott worked. Good job to everyone involved! It would have been silly of them to have this planned before the mass outrage, and not just tell people there was indeed DLC coming out, so one would have to assume they got off their asses and made it so. If they were hiding the fact they were working on it in the face of all the outrage, well that would be kind of a dick move.

Glad to see the effectiveness of fan involvement. Hope it happens more in the future. Never, ever listen to anyone who says it's not worth complaining or doing anything about. Rise above and never take no for an answer.

Yes fuck those boycotters, they got their free DLC. Let no man say a bad word about valve (unless it's about how long HL2:episode 3 has been in development).

Man, that is badass. Versus usually takes 2-3 times longer, but as long as it's well-paced and well-designed, I'm not complaining. And 560 MS points isn't too bad.

And that could possibly be my favorite poster yet. Francis actually reminds me a lot of my dad.

Well this just proves that the L4D2 boycott'ers have no idea what they talking about. Anyway on topic I really look forward to this campaign, it looks very interesting and should provide a good few hours of game play.
Yay, 10 more mins of play time while a "expansion" is going to be sold as a whole priced game separately soon.
Mmm... yeah, Valve fans are now convinced around the globe.

I think that most of the point against L4D2 is that, the game doesn't seem like much more than an expansion to the game, so it should be a 20 dollar expansion to the first one instead of a whole new game. Couple of new guns, couple of new maps, couple of new infested, same engine (they said it couldn't be done in the previous version of source, but I call BS and its suspiciously going to be retro-compatible apparently), better AI director (call BS again, the first one did its job well enough) same player base, etc. it just sounds like an expansion, and yet its going to be a full game release.

I dunno, I think I will refrain from buying brand new Valve games, until I know for sure I'm getting my moneys worth. (the fact that you cannot trade or sell the game over at steam kinda helps my point even more... and yes, I'm cheap)

360 has to pay? Ouch. I think that's a stipulation from Microsoft for their LIVE marketplace: no free DLC, unless it's a small map download or something. I understand that they've got to cover the cost of their bandwidth (kinda), but still seems unfair. You're already paying for the console, paying more for the game than the PC version (which usually drops in price faster), AND for the LIVE service.
This is why I love the PC.
