Were the criticisms of how they didn't like her our how she should be removed from the game and all characters like her should never be made ever? Because that's the difference between night and day. You know how you said you don't like Zarya because she's a tired and boring sterotype? That's why me and a lot of other people don't like Widowmaker. She's a tired and boring stereotype, the sexy French lady.

So long as the ratio is balanced I'd be ok with that. Preferably with some sexualized male characters to. I'm not really feeling it with the shirtless guy, we can do better than that. Really Jojo's Bizare Adventure it up.
It's the internet, and tumblr exists, I think we both know the answer to that question.

Yes, people were complaining she existed and wanted her removed, as well as screaming bloody murder over the idea that the other females in the game were in a physically fit state and wanted them removed.

I never said I thought otherwise of Widowmaker. My point is my complaints of Zarya and the complaints of most people thus far have focused on the character's theme and reason for addition, not her body shape.

It's an Actiblizzion game, I really don't care for them, the characters are invariably awful.

I see no reason why not! Given we've got a cast of stereotypes, why not the sexy nuns from Hitman?!

That's not an answer. Heck I've seen people on Tumblr who LIKE Widowmaker and ALL the female characters. Can we please stop stereotyping Tumblr to hell and back? And even if people did say something like that, was it to any significant degree? Because the criticisms I saw were pretty damn tame.

Well I didn't say that you did. I was explaining why I and others didn't like her and I was doing it in a way you would relate to.

It needs to fit the tone of the game. Just about everyone I talked to had the main problem of the nuns from hitman not really fitting the tone of the game. Didn't play it, not criticizing it myself, just saying what I saw. Overwatch is goofy enough for scantily glad women to hit in. Hitman I thought was supposed to be fairly serious, so again, didn't play it, but a nun stripper assassin squad in a serious game doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Especially when they ditch their much more effective disguises to reveal their BDSM gear despite the fact that they're sneaking up on 47 in the trailer. For some reason.

Don't get it, when was Blizzard ever known for being "creative"? Their most original IP that anyone cared for was Diablo, StarCraft and Warcraft are straight up clones of the Warhammer and Warhammer 40k series. Even at what I would consider their golden age Warcraft 1- Warcraft 3: TFT they weren't exactly known for being super creative.

People are shocked that the company that shredded the story of their previous games unabashedly, ig Jim Raynor now is willing to sacrifice his friends for a women who he swore to kill for killing his friends and Green "Kal El" Jesus, are willing to create characters for no other purpose but some easy PR points. Its like if people acted surprised when EA unveils its latest money making scheme.

On another note I wonder if the women that were forced to take steroids and deal with the terrible after effects in the Soviet Union and its satellites, particularly East Germany, find the muscle bound "Russian" women so funny.

Hair dye is apparently the second casualty of a culture war. ;)

Whatever will we do. All these SJWs comin' to steal our gamer culture.
With new characters for things. How terrible.

Actual tumblr or the sterotyped tumblr? Because there's a big difference.

Stereotyped tumblr, that is an actual, unfortunate, part of tumblr. Muh feels, "you are racist", neon hair for attention, forbidding people to have hotter fantasies than themselves.

Edit: You know, the part full of SJWs

Edit: Meh, if some people like the character, okay. As Runic Knight said, it is adding not replacing.

I mean I think tumblr is literally what they use for their story department, its like the manatees for Family Guy from that episode on south park.

You'll have to forgive me if I feel like that claim is a wee bit...unfounded. In other words, citation needed.

And the manatees were for Family Guy. They were on south park, but they were used to make fun of Family Guy

It was a typo, Gearbox, particularly Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel decided to jam as many pop-culture references and "SJW" causes en lieu of writing an actual story.

Okay, so it's the female heavy with a grenade launcher, gravity well grenade, personal or support uber.

As for appearance, buff Russian chick. She's actually really attractive by my standards... but then again being fit is typically an attractive trait. And she's FIT, not a body builder - at least in appearance.
Thick torso, giant biceps. No, she is definitely bodybuilder size. Women and men build muscle differently, so you're not gonna realistically see any women that are the size of male bodybuilders (save for maybe an outlier or two)

You said that they literally used Tumblr as a storyboard. Is having pop culture references and whatever the hell people deem to be "SJW" narrative aspects (Is having a gay character SJW? I don't know because that term has lost all meaning and just means "person who I disagree with") literally using Tumblr as a storyboard? And even then I ask once again. Tumblr the way it actually is or Tumblr the way the internet has a tendency to stereotype it?

Have you played Borderlands 2? In a DLC you run down and kill a guy for calling a women a derogatory term, and at another point Lilith has a rants about being picked on for like "nerd culture" the whole thing was beyond painful. Have you played those games?

We killed a guy for being a sexist douchebag. And this is a problem how? I thought it was well established that all the characters in Borderlands 2 were psychopaths. They kill 95% of the people they come across. They kill Hyperion employees just doing their job. They kill a crystal creature that was just guarding the tomb of its friend. They kill a crazy person who just told them to shoot him in the face. They help a thirteen year old girl torture someone to death. Brick flat out says he kills his own men "because they're stupid" and he encourages the player to do the same. But killing a sexist guy is apparently crossing the line? Should sexist douchebags be given amnesty from bullets?

Also, that came out in a DLC that featured a lot about video games and online culture. In one area you get someone to rage quit by teabagging them. I don't see how pointing out the bullshit of fake gamer girls (which was alive and well at the time) makes someone an SJW. Especially when it was done in a way that made the main female character look like a jerk and made the muscular macho man out to be the sympathetic victim. Not very SJWish.

Also, you're dodging my questions. Are we talking about the actual Tumblr or the sterotyped Tumblr

Considering all the commotion, I wonder if it would have been better if Blizzard added her but didn't do the press release saying "We added her to satisfy feedback from X people". Like just add her and let people enjoy the diversity without it becoming a thing people point at saying "PANDERING" or "INCLUSION" just let her be her.
At the same event, the game director of Heroes said that they were upping gold gain and working on implementing social controls because of player feedback. Yet I haven't heard anyone claim that was pandering; certainly no one is talking about pandering in the thread on it.

This was going to be a thing whether Blizzard talked about it or not.
