WOW, that is HUMILIATING. The series was driven into the ground already, so this just jams it into the core of the Earth. Activision seems intent to destroy every franchise and studio they have. Pro Skater is dead, Guitar Hero is dead, CoD seems to be going down that path, and they're dropping Bizarre Creations. The ONLY people Kotick and the Execs can't bully or strongarm are the Blizzard people.

Never even heard of this game. Looks like Activision blew all the marketing budget on CoD: Black Ops instead.

Like everyone else has said: FAIL advertising. I had heard NOTHING of this game until now (Not that ya know... I would have bought it or anything, but still.)

I remember on the PS1 playing Tony Hawk pro skater 2 and loving every minute of it. Funny how we change eh?
Like Sonic the Hedgehog! And Star Wars!

OT:

They should just stop making them, or try remaking Tony Hawk's Pro Skateboarder 3, or Tony Hawk's Underground 1 & 2.

I, too, did not hear of this game's existence until now, and I spend tons of time on game sites.

I mean, I doubt a new THPS game could sell well, but still...at least put up some advertisements or something.

There was a time where Tony Hawk was a JUGGERNAUT in the action sports game world, now these games are just on punctuated joke after the other. The last decent Tony Hawk game was THPS 4, and that's being VERY generous.

Haha never heard that one before.

Is clever humor a requirement for being an Escapist News Room Contributor ;] ?

I saw the box for this game in stores, but they never put adds for it
Same here. It was in the local game stores but I hadn't a clue it was even released. I never heard a peep about it. No wonder it sold so badly.

In regards to a Tony Hawks game. I would like another. Another like THPS3 or 4, the jewels of the series. Back when they weren't too over the top, but still good arcadey fun.

That's kinda pathetic that Activision decides to layoff the Robomodo guys...even though Activision has put ZERO promotional effort behind the game.

Hmm, I didn't even know there was a new Tony Hawk game. Maybe if they'd bother to advertise it, or at least attempt a viral video, they'd be better off. Of course, they could just make an HD remake collection of THPS2 and THPS3, and people would eat that up, because that was back when the series was great, and those games largely still hold up today. I know I'd buy it.

P.S. Thanks
This. An HD collection with some combination of the games from 2 through Underground (my preference, 2, 4, and THUG) would be awesome.

I didn't realize that another Tony Hawk had been released. I'm going to blame the complete lack of advertising. I had DJ Hero 2 ads thrown at me at every available interval(I completely disgusted everytime I saw the one chick blow her freckles onto the other girl). Would it have killed Activision to spend a little bit of that to promote one of their other games?

That would be really brilliant to see. I've really fond memories of playing all those games. I used to get one every christmas time, up until about American Wasteland. 2,3,4 and THUG were definatly my favourites.

I always loved the music they put into the games too. It's a shame to see a franchise go so badly.

I'm starting to think perhaps this was done on purpose to kill it off, because it is the single more quiet release I've ever (or never if thats' more suitable) seen.

I only heard about this game after I stumble an article which mentioned that a (some parts here may be incorrect) skater/ lecturer helped with the design of the board, then was amongst those who got fired.

They should probably just take a few years out(at least longer than last time), then come back with a game which is similar to 3/4. It may get people interested again.

I'm quite amazed the fact Tony Hawk: RiDE was panned by everyone and sold poorly would have convinced Activision (or whoever's developing it atm) to have a look at the original Pro Skater games to see what they did wrong... Unfortunatly, it's probably the end for the devs of this game, Activision is probably already flogging them on Ebay or somewhere

I'm shocked, I never really thought about how far that franchise has fallen... Man do I remember the days shredding as Bob Burnquist only cause I was praying the next fall would kill my in game avatar permanently ='(

Now that is sad. I really liked the series and my favorite is THPS3.
Damn that game was fun, even though all you did was skate around...
Ah, this brings back such good memories. That was a great game.
But now...3000, i can't even believe it. That's ridiculously small.

When obscure indie games outsell you several times over, you know you've destroyed your franchise.
