Erm, I just logged into the Eshop (Bought my 3DS at launch day) And tried purchasing a virtual console game, as you mentioned would be free.Logan Westbrook said:snip
However it's saying I have insufficient funds.
My 3DS is up to date as well.

The ambassador package isn't actually happening right now. An "Ambassador" is getting the games at a later date, almost definitely after the price drop. Currently all that is being done is telling people about the deal. No free games as of yet.Urgh76 said:Erm, I just logged into the Eshop (Bought my 3DS at launch day) And tried purchasing a virtual console game, as you mentioned would be free.Logan Westbrook said:snip

20 free gamesWorgen said:well the sudden price reduction is a bit annoying since I got one at launch, I do like the 10 free games so over all Im still happy
So long as you register it before August 11th you'll get your free gamescornmancer said:Will the 20 free games apply to people who buy after the announcement? Because I'll shell out the extra money if it means Metroid and Mario Kart.
Even if it doesn't, at $170 it looks like I'll get around to buying it finally. Especially since I can rebuy my favorite GBA games. Though I will have to keep my DS lite around to buy those I still have, but whatever man.
iSupply really fucked up with their estimation of it's cost then.Andriasang said:Bloomberg Japan reports today that the new 3DS price point means Nintendo will incur a loss on every system sold. At a press conference in Osaka today, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata justified this by saying that such major moves were necessary in order to improve fiscal performance next year and beyond.
Nintendo slashed the price of the 3DS earlier today worldwide. In Japan, the system was cut from its launch price of ¥25,000 to ¥15,000. Early adopters who paid the initial price will be given access to 20 free Famicom (NES) and Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games, some exclusively.
In addition to the price cut, Nintendo announced lowered earnings targets for the year. SMBC senior analyst Eiji Maeda told Bloomberg that 40% of the lowered revision was due to the 3DS price cut. Securities Japan analyst Masayuki Ohtani expressed surprise at how quick the price cut came.
Ohtani also suggested that investors might rush to sell Nintendo stock, although he doesn't believe the stock will drop below 10,000 yen. Nintendo stock ended the day at 14,000 yen, up 0.1% from the day prior. On the 27th, one day before the price cut and earnings report announcements, the stock had temporarily dropped to 13,770 yen, its lowest point since December 2005.
Nintendo usually holds a Tokyo earnings briefing the day after its Osaka earnings briefings. It's likely that will get more information there.

looks like if you use the 3DS and log into the eShop before August 12 (before the price drop) then you get the games.Logan Westbrook said:Fortunately, Nintendo doesn't plan to leave those people out in the cold, and is offering 20 free downloadable games to anyone who bought a 3DS at the higher price that signs in to the 3DS eShop before August 12th.

Most people who bought a 3DS at launch aren't quite bright enough to a) do the math; and b) think that far ahead.ryo02 said:free (if you pay an extra $80) games of nintendo's choice (not yours)
its not free if you have to pay for it why not wait for the price drop then use the $80 you saved to buy games of your choice?.
Oh man, Nintendo is going to make a killing this holiday. Every 6 year old in the country is going to want one, and the new price is going to look far, far more attractive to their parents. I guess those extra $80 was pure markup on their part if $170 is still a profitable price point. It's not like they found a cheaper or more effective way to manufacture it, seeing as how it already cost a pittance to make in the first place...BrunDeign said:Also I'm pretty sure Nintendo is still making money off of this while the Vita is being sold at a loss again so yeah... still looking pretty good for Nintendo.
