I might think about buying one. I still hate the 3D bull but if I see some more good games coming out I may consider it.

I am really glad I got one for my Birthday/Christmas now. When can we get the free games?

Something to consider though, you don't have to buy all 20. Personally, I'm interested in Metroid: Fusion and Mario Kart Super Circuit, but since Super Mario Crossover has yet to get a cease and desist, and I just don't like the original Zelda, those are two I wouldn't have to get. I imagine that the full list will have a few more duds too. And I really only want Super Circuit for nostalgia's sake. With all the money I save not buying the duds, I could get the inevitable Mario Kart 3D. Or finally get around to getting Mario Kart DS (I've had a lite for years, but I've only recently started giving it the love and attention it deserves Phoenix Wright made me realize that it can be more than a GBA without squintovision.)

Dropping the price by 1/3 ($80) after being out only 6 months, giving away $150 worth of DLC for those who bought it at full price and losing money on each 3DS sold only shows the complete failure of the 3DS thus far in it's lifecycle.

The main selling point, the 3D is the problem with this system. Those who can't see it or must turn it off after a few minutes have no/little use for the 3D feature. Maybe the price drop will nullify that though since it is now the same price as the DSi XL.

I am sure the next iteration of the 3DS is on it's way too, the 3DS Lite or whatever they are gonna call it. Also expect new colors to choose from.

The 3DS is pretty lightweight as is.

2013 for the remastered, re-release of Ruby and Sapphire (I've been screaming this on many a thread DON'T IGNORE MY WISDOM!!)

*ahem*

A thought just occurred to me...while it's great that the 3DS is about to see a price decrease the games themselves will likely be staying right where they are price-wise. The cheapest 3DS game I've seen was a $20 Bust a Move Universe. On the same day I saw that I also say New Super Mario DS, Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story and, Mario Kart DS all selling at their release prices of $34.99. This tells me that by this time in about 7 years Ocarina of Time and, Super Paper Mario will still be $39.99 new.

I have seen your patterns and I know your ways Nintendo...those boss fights from Link to the Past have taught me well...now to light some candles and hurl some of your own energy back at you!! Or...well...I guess that's a bit improbable...but boy am I gonna do...something...

Wow, that seems pretty drastic. I hope the 3DS isn't going the way of the Virtual Boy. The hardware has its share issues, but it also has some genuinely innovative and interesting ones, and I don't think it deserves to get killed off as a failed product before it even fully emerges from the gate.

This drastic of a price cut on hardware not even six months old? This isn't a good sign... not a good sign at all.

What's this? People aren't flocking to the 3DS in droves? Well shucks maybe it has something to do with 3D being a gimmick that almost nobody wanted or asked for.
Oh,you mean the 3D you can turn off and just ignore? THAT 3D,well shucks I didn't know people gave so much of a shit about that kind of thing to not buy a 3DS,or maybe it was because the launch lineup sucked and all the big games (except Ocarina of Time) are still not out yet,or even it's because the 3DS has the worst battery life ever. No,No,it MUST be because of the 3D that you can turn off and never touch again.

Just because a system has a gimmick, doesn't mean it's the biggest issue.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to insert my input on this pressing matter.
OT: Well that's good for me seeing as I need to replace my DSi and it's broken shoulder buttons, hopefully I'll find the paperwork for me to get my money back from the state and I'll be on my way.

Why would people who can't or won't use the 3D effect pay for that feature in the first place?

The gimmick is in the title for christ sake.

As a launch day 3DS customer, this is bullshit.

I obviously don't expect a check for $80 in the mail, but a good recompense would be half that amount in virtual store credit ($40 virtual store credit)

That would be fair, instead of useless NES games, and GBA games that, while not useless, were probably all already played by anyone who is enough of a Gameboy fan to get it before the price cut.

And don't tell me that I should thankful to get anything, this ridiculously close to launch and massive cut is unprecedented and is an admission that it was overpriced on launch day.

Hey that's a pretty good deal for those people who bought the 3ds at launch and for everyone else it's a really affordable 3ds. It needs a stronger lineup though I mean Kid Icarus is the only really new game in that it's an really old franchise thats had it's genre changed. Also kid Icarus games? Like more than one?

They really want to move these 3DS units.
Not really, we got screwed out of $80 and are now having some old GBA games that pretty much all of us have already played (being enough of a Game Boy fan to get the 3DS at launch and all) tossed at us. It's bull.

As of writing this, I own a single 3DS game, and it's a remake of an N64 game. I bought this unit months ago, and had to wait months to get a single decent game, and it's a game that was ALREADY MADE YEARS AGO

Nintendo fucked up big time.

Huh. I got a 3DS for my birthday out of the blue (I suspect it was to help my friend's Gamestop sales quota; heh, he's still sad that I don't shop there anymore). It's been ok so far, but really there isn't much to play on it.

But maybe that will change soon...maybe.
Glad to see I could get some decent games out of this deal.

EDIT: Huh, I need to find more details about this.
It says that you just had to sign onto the eShop? I have an account there for my purchase of Starship Defense. Is that good enough?

Aye. that does sound bad. I remember quite a few people buying a 3DS just to play megaman legends. That didn't turn out quite like the plan was set out to go down. I myself won't buy one until I've been given solid information on the rumor that a kingdom hearts game was going to be made for that handheld. Hopefully it's just a rumor cause I don't really want to buy a 3DS.

If nintendo can afford to drop the 3ds's price so much just a few months after its release, it really really makes you wonder what kind of profit margin they had to begin with. This makes me somewhat angry cuz it means Nintendo in fact deliberately did over-price the 3ds, when it could have been much cheaper to begin with.

Dammit. I went and bought a DSi instead of a 3DS because I thought it had a better value. Now they go and give deals to anyone who has one or is thinking of getting one? Now I want a 3DS, but I already spent a ton of money on the DSi! FML.

They are losing money at this price point. This is a desperate move to increase the install base.
