I think America is the same as any other country. It has it's decent folk and it has it's dicks. You just find that the dicks in America tend to be twice as loud as the dicks anywhere else. It's a shame but thats how it goes.

To be fair here are many critical, progressive people in the USA, the problem is that the morons are louder (and were able elect Bush president). Now who needs to read a history Book. The United states declared war on japan DEC 8th 1941 Germany and Italy on DEC 11 1941 and Jun 5th 1942 on Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary.

Mexico declared war on Germany on 22 May 1942 after German submarines attacked Mexican oil tankers, Potrero del Llano and the Faja de Oro; tankers that were transporting crude oil to the United States. These attacks prompted President Manuel Ávila Camacho to declare war on the Axis powers.

The US Fought in North africa starting direct military assistance in North Africa on 11 May 1942 along side good ole monty. This is where the rivalry between patton and monty was born.

So anything else you say tp me after this i have trouble reading as your "truths" are very skewed. These are all facts please check them and then get back to me

However, Canada was in there in 1939. The fact that americans think WW2 started in the 40s is itself a major falsehood. There were other countries fighting for a couple years before the US finally were attacked and got involved.

You do know that large parts of the European media are ridiculously pro-USA, yes? Sorry, but no, we don't have people who propagate hatred against the US, we have people who tell us that 9/11 was the game changer for the Western world, so bad and unprecedented that it was more important to us than everything that ever happened in our own countries.

There was zero - absolutely zero - intelligent discourse about 9/11, the coverage was 100% pro-US/Bush, the German media went out of its way to discredit everyone who questioned even the most minor details of the official version. Of the many, many failures of the US foreign policy only Iraq was ever addressed, in some outlets not even that. And so on. Critique in general has been kept at an absolute minimum; that's the reality.

Now, to get this back on topic:
If there is one thing I absolutely despise about Americans (online, because that's what these threads are all about, after all) its this idiotic desire to paint themselves as victims, even though they're easily the best off in almost every aspect. You feel there's a horrible trend of anti-US sentiment in the media? Try asking a Chinese about how his country is portrayed by foreign media.

I want to put the argument that American's are brainwashed to bed. This is not true. We have stupid news outlets, most notably being Fox news of course, and a self destructive political party that does not let anything get done by the opposing party, even if they agree with it. And I will go so far as to say we do have "brainwashed" individuals in the country who were raised Republican and will not vote any other way or even listen to what the candidates/politicians are actually saying at the core of their speeches.

However, anyone outsiders simply claiming that all Americans are "brainwashed" and the government hides information from them in some huge conspiracy might as well be in the same boat as those guys I mentioned in the previous paragraph. Okay, claiming that SOME Americans are in a way brainwashed by the Republican party just because they're stupid is understandable and probably true. But labeling all Americans as brainwashed sheep? Thats as unfair a generalization and stereotype as labeling all people who follow the Islamic faith terrorists and suicide bombers isn't it? The answer is yes. And since when is the US the only country with stupid people in it? What about all those rioters in Great Britain? The ones looting and then posting pictures on facebook of it? Whenever I've talked to Brits about that they basically just say that those people give Britain a bad name. It's the same situation with our Republican nut jobs in this country.

Another argument I see all the time is talking about all of the US's shady dealings with international affairs that have surfaced in the past several years on wikileaks. The people making this claim are always insisting we are doing shady and sometimes horrible things overseas. Now I'm not going to deny that some of our soldiers have missteps in conduct and it is sometimes horrible what they do. However, when people bring up this argument, they act like our country is the only one that has incidents like these and keeps information away from the public. Anyone who believes that is an idiot. There are examples of horrible people who make it through the cracks and get into the armed forces in every country on earth. And quite frankly, the only country I can think of in the world that might share all of its military operations with its people is Switzerland... But anybody who truly believes that their country is a high point of society and the government has such a peachy relationship with the people that they share all of their military efforts with the public is naive and dare I say it, "brainwashed".

Long story short, the term brainwashed is thrown around VERY lightly and implies Nazis locking the people in rooms flashing subliminal messages on a TV until they walk out voting for Republicans and drooling a little bit. No. Our Media like Fox news and such is bad. They do a very good job of influencing the stupid people in the country to follow the Republican party blindly. Not all of our media is bad believe it or not! Watch anything political on PBS and you'll see that! In actuality, most of our media is good and bias free to be honest! PBS, NBC, NPR. All of these outlets are generally bias free.

Also finally, to anyone making the, "ALL AMERICANS ARE FAT" statement. Really? I mean...really? Anyone who makes that statement is basically automatically on the same level as the ones you claim are brainwashed. That's like me claiming the all British people have horrible teeth, and live on a diet consisting only of tea and crumpets, and saying that I have a valid argument. I don't want to go into that whole thing, but yes America is the fattest country on earth. THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE ONLY HAVE 400 POUND MONSTERS WALKING AROUND WITH MCDONALDS BAGS ALL THE TIME! First off The US involvment in Combat operations in the European Theater started in 42 when the US 8th Airforce from march of 42 on carried the bulk of the load doing daylight bombing missions over Europe, specifically French and German targets. 42 not 43. From late 39 on until we had combat forces in Europe (North africa is generally accepted as part of the European theatre for WW2 but well seperate them for your arguments sake) THE US was shipping war material to the UK and Russia keeping them in the fight. Canadian troops actually went and fought with american made armor for the length of the war. Mexico only declared war in 42 and none of thier troops saw any battle until mid 43. They did contribute around 15k troops who fought in 2 theatres and also contributed 2 squadrons of fighter aircraft. this is 1943 not 1942. As for americans thinking that the war started in the 40 we know that the official declarations were in 39 (and we did particiate in the battl of the atlantic, 12300 american merchant marine sailors lost thier lives to german Uboat, aircraft and anti shipping attacks bringing you canucks and brits and russkies your war materials.
