There is a great chance I will get this game. The thing is, I'm still running on an old CPU. I REALLY want to play this on the PC, mostly because it's an FPS but also out of principle. Hopefully I can upgrade before it comes out. I also really hope it gets good reviews. I only played a demo of the first (to see how much my computer could handle. The answer: quite a bit, but my CPU caused quite a bit of lag in more populized areas), but it was very fun.

It's absolutely nothing to do with me, and PC piracy is absolutely not my problem.
Well that's quite an opinion. I'm not even sure how to respond, except to say that the day when you realize that things for which you are not directly responsible can still very much be your problem will likely be a rough one for you.

I will get it certainly. The only reason I won't get it on launch is because I'm on a limited budget and Dragon Age II and Portal II have top priority.

I really hope the game sells well on PC. It won't top the console sales obviously but I hope it still sells good. Crytek make really good games that manage to stand out more than most think from the rest out there.

I certainly misphrased my opinion. I don't quite mean 'my problem' or 'my responsibility' I think I more mean 'my fault'.

Sign'd.

I view this as a way to say, Crytek, we care about your work and support you. We are apologizing, through our words and through our deeds, for the immoral actions of our fellows.

I'd love to sign this if only in support of PC gaming as a whole. However, I got a chance to play the leaked version at a friend's place for about an hour, and I can honestly say that if this is the product quality we can expect to see from Crytek from now on, I don't care if they stop developing for the PC.
See, idiotic shit like this is one of the unseen side-effects of piracy. Slackjaws get their hands on a pre-release build of a game, play it, it's not 100 percent (see: pre-release build) but start making all kinds of noise about it on public forums. Negative perceptions build, sales decline, developers and publishers take it in the ear twice, once directly thanks to pirates and again their stupid bleating about how shitty the game they didn't pay for is.

The level of ignorance is truly stunning.

Fair enough, and I can definitely roll with that. But the fact is that like it or not, piracy is our problem. We may not indulge in it, but we suffer for it.

This is more of an oath than a petition.

Even so, I've signed. I've got a couple hundred bucks sitting around from Christmas and my Birthday.

This petition holds as much weight as the Left 4 Dead 2 Petition and the Modern Warfare 2 petition. Meaning none.

Signed.

No. 347.

I'll gladly buy a copy of Crysis 2 on release day. My PC can't run anything like it, but I will give Crytek my 49.99.

I'd do it if I was already on the fence about getting it, but I had never considered getting it in the first place. So no. I applaud them though.

I'd buy it and avoid pirating if I had an interest in this game... plus I doubt it would run well on my PC anyway. I think I'll stick to waiting for Portal 2, Arkham City, and maybe DNF

Haha, another whiplash reaction! A petition is a big fat waste of time. Buy the game in a month for gods sake. I hate stuff like this. They already said they are committed to PC gaming despite this happening. We don't need to kiss their asses to make them happy, we only need to buy their products.

Also, this isn't going to prevent any piracy, a pirate with an honor code will simply not sign the petition.

Count me along the people who will buy it legally...

Just in a few years, when the price drops on steam.
Amen to that. Luckily enough, any of the holiday summer sales should fix that, at the most you'll probably have to wait till Xmas time for that.

Maybe you misunderstand.
Maybe I do. And believe me, I want to see a PC demo as much as anyone. The absence of PC demos is making it increasingly tough to lay down big bucks for new game releases, particularly in the shooter genre. But I don't believe there's any legitimacy to the old standby that people pirate games because they want to try before they buy, and it's a particularly big Cup O' Shit when people condemn games based on pre-release builds.

Apologies if I came on a little harshly, but I don't like piracy and I don't like seeing games and studios take a beating based on games that haven't even been released.

I won't buy it, mainly because I have no interest in the game, so no pirate either! woo.

Also I wish more games were released on onlive, free demo!

If there was a Crysis 2 demo I would probably support this idea. However, back when Crysis 1 was new and shiny and all I had to go on were trailers and glowing reviews, I wanted to know if the game was good. I tried the game on a friend's machine and found that the game was absolutely nothing like what I wanted to play. He saved my ass around $50. So unless Crytek suddenly turns around and releases a demo on the PC, caveat emptor.
