There are many things that make me refuse to buy this game. Firstly its an MMO I utterly refuse to support anything to do with mmo games as they are made for companies trying to farm for money.

Secondly Bungie gave a big finger to PC users as someone has said, so screw them I wont be supporting Bungie untill they change back to Pc users with some more origonality.

Bungie preached so much about something new, instead it seems to be some reskinned rpg fps hybrid of Halo. What ever happened to bringing back the classic myth series, a series that is still rated the goriest and one of the most advanced games of its time even after 13+ years (made in 1998) there are still tournaments and events being held on community made servers.

The apple has fell far from the tree, and if you want to see some cool myth stuff check video below.

I'm going to be honest, it just looks like a serious version of borderlands, clunky combat and all. Considering that not many of my friends are interested in playing it either, it looks like it will be intensely boring

I would love to at least check it out, and I am interested to see how the reviews go, but from what I have seen, I am not overly impressed. Not that it really matters, there is no PC port, and I dont have any other platform that I would want to run Destiny on, so right now it is a "no", but if there is a PC port, then I will see what the reviews are like, and probably get it when it goes on sale.

Not played the beta, not really invested much time in reading into the game at all. But I've got nothing else to play at the moment, and I'm dreading the thought of having to start yet another fucking slow arse campaign in Civ5 with my mates. Plus, if I dont like it, I can always trade it in in two weeks time for either FIFA or NHL.

So its a maybe, I'll have to see what kind of mood I'm in after work on Tuesday.

I guess thats a good way to say it. Halo games are definitely more light hearted then Half Life 2. Although I got to admit, the books are surprisingly good at portraying the world in a much darker, much more desperate way. The covenant are more fearsome and much better then they appeared outside Reach, and it has some surprisingly good writing. Too bad the Halo games never focused on those parts, and Halo 4 was just awful so its unlikely 343 will make a good Halo game anyway.
Interesting, I thought Halo 4 was one of the better single player campaigns because of all the elements it took from the novels. As someone who's read most of the novels it was joy to see a Halo game that felt like it was part of the same universe as the novels rather than some separate entity.

Though I agree, the novels have always been better than games when its comes to portraying the Halo universe.

I will be. Already have my PS4 pre-order paid off.

I figured might as well get it now, since I'm going to be getting one for Bloodborne anyway.

If you buy a game based on a beta then I would hardly call that smart.
You seem to have misconception about Betas. A game doesn't changes much from Beta to RC. If you liked the Beta I'm certain you will like the RC. Though I have to agree that the Destiny Beta was less like a Beta and more like a Demo.
Anyway if the Beta/Demo is no fair base to judge a games enjoyment factor for you and therefore make an informed purchase decision than I'm afraid nothing except the full game is and by that point you already paid.

Aaron Sylvester said:
The fact remains that pre-ordering games is POINTLESS in a digital era. The entire reason pre-ordering came around was so that people could get their hands on a product before it sold out.
Or get it right on release date in a physical format delivered to you. Broke you argument right there I suppose.
I'm just as annoyed by the mass-pre-ordering-culture than the next guy and think we should dial it down. But if someone is dead certain to buy a game on release then I think it is okay for him to pre-order out of comfort.

Aaron Sylvester said:
But pre-ordering videogames? Seriously? What benefit does it give you BESIDES the pre-order bonus, a bonus that exists entirely to entice you to pre-order the game to begin with?
It gets delivered to my door step on release date. Sure I could go and buy it on release date in a retailer but why make that detour from work when I could have it delivered free of charge anyway.
It is less stress for me granted more stress for the package deliverer. At least I ensure he got some work to do.

Aaron Sylvester said:
Like I said, it's a poisonous state of mind. Doesn't matter if you trust the developer or how much you were blown-away by the beta, just hold off clicking the "purchase" button until the game releases. Will it kill you? Do you risk anything by doing that? Is it too much to ask?
No and yes.
No it won't kill me but it is asked too much as you just asked me to make a detour into the city coming off work during rush hour to buy a video game I want to play on release that I could have delivered to my door steps free of charge. Screw that!
And no I don't want to "rent" a digital copy.

In some capacity, the boyfriend and I will probably get it, but I suspect that he'll want to get it on one of the new consoles. Thing is, I don't really think that he'll buy a new console for one game (there's maybe one game that exclusive to either console that either off us are interested in). I think he's leaning to the PS4, but since the XBone has gotten rid of all that crap no one wanted, and we already rock the 360 [accounts carry over], there's a chance he'd go for it.

Then again, the beta played fine on the 360, so may just get it there.

TL;DR: At some point, probably, but for what console, I dunno.

So, I have to post in this thread after seeing the fucking Destiny commercial with ZEPPELIN music. You have to shell out a HUGE amount of money to use a Zeppelin song. I'm guessing Destiny is going to have to sell around 10 million to even turn a profit. The amount of money spent on production (graphics, voice actors, etc.) and the marketing is just through the roof.

I'm going to predict Destiny is going to end up being huge failure and being the biggest example of why the AAA game industry can't make money (it will be featured on the Jimquisition). I also predict Destiny is going to end up being another Titanfall, it will enjoy good initial sales and popularity, but it will be forgotten shortly afterwards as I played the Alpha and the game is just boring, the powers and skill trees are so underwhelming, just not nearly as interesting and fun as Borderlands while also lacking the charm and humor Borderlands. I'm not saying the game will flop as I predict an easy 3-5 million sales but it's going to need more than that to turn a profit, thus it will be a failure. Plus, it's a game that will require a lot of post-launch support (so even more $$$) as it is an MMO.

It's severely over-hyped, and not coming to PC.

So a definite no. Even before that, nothing about the game draws me in. If Bungie could just go all in with their unique vision of the solar system and spent more time making it feel, well, more alien(because the combat is familiar, as are a lot of the enemies, and the story is bound to be meh).

It doesn't push the factor that draws me in enough that I would consider buying it. Even if it did, I still can't because either Activision or Bungie are idiots who've never heard of Steam.

I've heard this is online only and that coupled with the fact that it's primary focus is online multiplayer so my interest is...well, start digging now and I'll let you know when you get to it. If this game had an offline, single-player mode I may be more interested but I still see this as a new flavor of Halo and I'm just completely Halo'd out after the 4th failed to captivate me like Reach.

edit

Hey, I watched the Angry Joe video thing that he put up! Destiny looks like what you would get if Bungie was commissioned to make Borderlands. I didn't like Borderlands and the weapons in Halo have felt under-powered to me since the second one so the gameplay I saw looked like it would be overly drawn out when you're not in a vehicle. It's just not my thing so I'm going to pass, even if you can play the thing offline.

I didn't like any Halos (don't judge), Destiny doesn't intrigue me and I don't have console (except my 360, but hey, PC Master Race, and it's not coming out for PC). So, no. If it was released on PC, I might have thought about it.

EDIT: Just learned it's an MMO. I'm a bit out of the loop with this game. I generally don't like MMOs. I find them all to be grindy after a few days. And also, the player reception so far is meh.

I'm not all that interested in it, and I don't even have a platform to play it on. If I somehow happen to inherit a next-gen console, maybe I'll consider picking it up. I'm still a little sore about their treatment of Marty, though, which lowers the chance of my purchase to "very low."

I looked into it until I saw that whole bit about a single player meshed into an MMMO-ish/ Borderlandish/ Quasi-Mass Effect-ish hybrid slant to it too....

I'll pass.

I loved Halo but this to me just seems to be a game catered to people whom want or have the time to grind endlessly for new weapons/skills/armor ect.... no cohesive story and most likely will become some Fee Fest with endless " DLC Maps".

I'm good. I won't knock anyone whom likes that sort of thing but not for me.

Also, I don't think I can get into it's art style either with each character basically looking the same.

AAA games can make lots of money but its just seems to me that any game with a large amount of marketing $$$ behind it seems to be a per-cursor to a bad failure. Its like its an ultimate sign that there is definitely something wrong with it so they have to use psychological forces to promote the game for gamers to buy.

I think what these guys making this type of medium need to understand is that you can't simply sell something for grinding and multi-player purposes only.... you need to be creative and add something extra to get everyone into it. This ditching of a cohesive story people like to follow is in my view, a big mistake.

Oh, what's that? Destiny? Sorry, I was busy being hyped for something a bit different.

In all seriousness, not really. It looks interesting and like something I could get into, but not immediently interesting enough for me to do any research on it.

Haha, nice. Bayonetta 2 is BY FAR my most anticipated game of 2014 and I don't even have WiiU, but I'll have to get one at some point. Bayonetta was my favorite game of last gen and I wasn't even much into the genre before playing it. I just loved the dodge offset mechanic. I'm really shocked other hack and slash games haven't incorporated the mechanic into their games, it's just so great not having to restart combos, even a block offset would work.
