"we"?
uggghh no no no no...don't group me in with people who act like "gaming" is some kind of identity
Oh, for fuck's...
Listen, I identify as a gamer, not because video games identify me, but because it's something I'm passionate about.
Just because I'm a gamer, say I'm a gamer, and I'm proud of it, doesn't mean I think that it's my SOLE DEFINING FEATURE.
I'm also a writer, an actor, a cashier, a hopeless romantic, and (to stay on topic) a beast in the sack, but I don't identify by any of those things.
"Gamer" isn't an identifier, it's a describer. It's one facet of my, and other's, lives. We're just more passionate and into it than other people are.
So please, you and all other people who think that people who call themselves gamers see it is an identity, stop badmouthing us that don't have issues with the term. It's getting silly.
(This isn't totally aimed at you, I had a shitty-as-hell day, and it's simply venting a bit of frustration that I've had about this topic for quite some time.)
