I spell it as colour. Although I guess it's because I was raised in N.Ireland and was taught to spell it that way during my school days.

The Brits say colour. Their language, their rules.
In Australia we spell it 'colour'. Though, in Australia we speak a very bastardised form of their language, or so say my English mates.

Australia, with a U.
It's the American spelling where they drop the u.
They like to shorten words just because they can.

being a Canadian, Ive always spelled it "Colour".
everyone does it differently, but im guessing "Color" is probably the most popular.
You guessed wrong.

Also, it really doesn't matter how you spell a word. There is no "proper" way to spell anything, it is just implicitly decided by the society. As I foresee it, slang words like "dat" "dis" "wen" "lol" will become accepted part of the English language, and they will be slangs no more.

wow...
charizard also ot alot of picks.

I like how you explained that, thats somthing ive been trying to tell people but could never find the words.
there is no such thing except what is explained to you, and that becomes the truth to them.
and I really hope those words dont become part of the english language, I want to cut people whenever they say that T_T.

Fun fact: Australians pronounce it "cull-a" due to their inability to pronounce the r on the end of words. Water is "war-ta" runner is "run-ah" and colour is "cull-a".

Funner fact: Singer in Australian would be "sing-ah", however here in Manchester in England it would be "sin-ga". WOOOOOW
You seem to know everything.Kinda like me.But I was programmed to do so.

OT:Well I write both color and colour. It just depends on if I am writing english or English. With the latter being more fancy.

I've always spelled it as colour even though it's apparently "wrong" according to my laptop as I type this message, who cares what my laptop thinks though. =P

I was going to make a thread with this poll.

I use colour.

Question: To those of you who use USAmericanised English, please explain to me the reasoning behind removing u from colour, o from foetus, etc.

I honestly don't know. Same reason we call "football" "soccer", I suppose, which also confuses my friends since I say "football". xD

Despite being American and generally getting made fun of whenever I include "u" in words that typically don't have them in "American" English, I spell it "colour." I have no idea why.

Its more of a region thing. Like um... Countries like great britain, and canada, spell things different. Words like color and honor in the United States are spelled with the -or. not the -our. There's also a difference in how they spell theater. in the US its -er in UK/Can is -re.

its really preference and region. At least, thats how my english teacher explained it to me.
