Do an easy one, like for me Yagami Light. Have the clothes and hair already,so can say you're him or yourself depending on mood.

Light for me seems too easy an option, as my hair is pretty much the same as his anyway and I tend to dress in the same manner. Nice fall-back option :)
Blasphemy, he should go as L.

Even I do, binding, jeans, a loose shirt and (possibily) sneakers. It's simple.
While I prefer L as a character, It would be much easier to go as light, as my hair is the same colour meaning it wouldn't need to be died. And i have a very large grin, so the whole L personality thing wouldn't work too well.

The goal is to have fun with your girlfriend. Tell her you'd be interested in trying to do a cosplay with her and see if there's anything that she could help you get together for you guys to do as a couple cosplay.
She's already sorted hers, she said that we would go as a couple cosplay next time if I enjoyed it and wanted to do it again.

Please don't. Or at least, if you're really gonna do it, dress as something western. Not magical robots with blue hair.
I've never actually seen a magical robot with blue hair, my interest in cosplay is increasing thanks to your comment.
You're welcome???

I've been suggested Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji, and it seems a fairly safe option :)
Don't you dare go as Seb unless you're certain you can do him proud. >.>

Nope, angry fanboy alert. :p

But I'd love to help, I just need a general idea of what you look like. :)

Go for it. Other people are doing it there too so there's no reason to feel embarrassed.

I'd advise looking for both a character you like and, if possible one you can pull off with your body type. Try and find a character that looks like you if you can or has similar physical features. It'll make the entire costume making process a hell of a lot easier.

May as well go for it. I'd jump on the chance to cosplay, especially if I had someone to help me get it together.

Besides, would you rather regret having done it and not liked it, or never having done it at all and never knowing?

Well then I'd say your all set. My girlfriend and I find a nice bond in cosplaying together so I hope it works out for the two of you too. Something jsut the two of you can do together and it'll be even more special for her knowing that she can enjoy it alongside the ones she loves.

Who says you want to be remembered?
Isn't it a better point to enjoy oneself over making an impression?
Being remembered is a bonus. :) There are also so many ways to do it.

I, for example, didn't have a costume this year, but I did bring a couple of packs of ramen noodles. These were meant to be an alternative to buying food from restaurants or room service all the time, but alas, there was no microwave. For the sake of justifying my purchase, I went around looking for good Naruto cosplays and gave them my ramen. The reactions I got were just awesome.

Honestly, I say, if you're gonna do it, do it big, and do it right. Here's an example:

Now, it doesn't have to be THAT crazy, but don't just throw a sweater on and comb your hair funny and call it cosplay, because lets look at it bluntly.

If she's that into it, and you like her enough to be part of her life, it's going to become part of your life. The sooner you jump in and go as nuts as she is, the better.

Terrible pictures, but the best I could do from my own pictures. I don't photograph often or well.

Well, because she is going to be Envy, and you said you had neck length hair, I would have suggested you go as Ed from Full Metal Alchemist, but now I see that you have a mullet. Either you could grow out your bangs, or you could go as Neebs, I guess.

Well.. How about Cloud?
Bad idea. The OP will get more recognition for being someone who isn't seen a lot, like Gene from Outlaw Star or a character from, say, Gundam Wing.
I don't get your point.
Unless you're refering to the fact that he is the main character and probably one out of 100 people who'll cosplay Cloud. Even so, how is that a bad idea?
This may be because I personally don't care for almost anything Final Fantasy related, so when i see a Cloud cosplayer, instead of eliciting a gleeful "Wow! Cloud!" I exude a deadpan "Wow... Cloud...".

I dunno. I'm a bit of a "tourist" of sorts, so I prefer something new and exotic than overdone and outdated, so to speak.

I think I'm starting to sound a bit like a pompous jackass, so I'll just stop here.

Pyramid Head if you have the build for it.

1: Obscures face.
2: Easy costume.
3: No woman alive doesn't want to be... taken... by this ultimate symbol of masculine sex, domination and violence.

Seriously, women love Pyramid Head...

As much as it may look like it on that picture, i assure you it isn't a mullet, my hair blends into my suit.
