Console aircraft: yes
Console infantry: yes
PC aircraft: yes
PC infantry: no

While this seems like I am almost completely inverted, the amount of time I spend on a console is measured in hours per year, and the amount of time I spend in aircraft on a PC is pretty small compared to the amount of time I'm on foot.

So I'm at least 85% non-inverted.

I used to always invert than one day I stopped.

I hope that was interesting.

I can see where people would want to not invert their y-axis, up being up makes sense. But when I first started gaming, I played alot of flight simulators, one of the old ace combat games was a favorite among my middle school friends and I have inverted ever since. I have done both, but I personally think inverting is more intuitive, like what ThatJagoGuy said, It feels like your pivoting a camera from behind over a fulcrum.

Although, It is very difficult to do the minor directions with inverted (you know, up and to the right, or down and to the left, etc.) But the only game that being able to easily look in minor directions was important was online Halo. So other than exteemly competitive online FPS's I always invert.

I only use inverted camera on City of Heroes/Villains. Anyhting else and its up is up and down is down.
It drove me crazy that it was inverted on coh/cov.

Was normal to them inverted? Cos it seemed that way, I have to change it every time I log in and it lies and says the camera is normal but it isnt.
yep, it defaulted to inverted camera and I hated it so much.

Those sneaky bar-stewards, although it is still my favourite MMO and PC game... in fact, I actually played it inbetween my last 2 posts. :D Corrupters/Blasters for the win!

Wait... are people who are left handed supposed to go inverted? Because I am a lefty and I hate inverted controls, I just can't handle it! Up is up, down is down, up is up, down is down, up is up, down is down, ARGH!!!

My step-brother did that, i guess he just stopped because everyone got annoyed with the fact that he always paused the games to change the Y-axis and he was the only person that ever paused it!

It belongs in flight environments and other crap where three-dimensional high-speed movement is the norm, but anything else, and... well, yeah, burn her as a witch.

Good god, no. I have friends who invert - if they ever hand off controllers to me, the next few seconds are huge WTF moments for me. I can kind of get used to it, but it feels really uncomfortable and just wrong.

If you're fling there is no choice ... and if you want to get specific, inverted would be normal ... if that makes sense, since planes are like that ... or ... I'll stop there.

Normally though HELL no! Up is Up and Down is Down! - except in a plane of course ...

I used to invert all the time, now I cannot play with invert if my life depended on it. I don't know why, I guess I grew out of it?

Only when playing a flight sim using an actual joystick. I never do with a gamepad. Too confusing.

i just realised I've played SA-MP for 500 hours, with the mouse inverted. i immediately fixed it.

though i can play both ways i guess, it just makes sense to be non inverted.

.....a far bigger problem is that i always move my mouse using my left hand, when its to the right of the keyboard.

Apparently, when you pick up a game for the first time, whether or not you like the inverse thumbstick/mouse setting depends on which side of the brain you use most.

I use inverse. Because I can.

P.S. To anyone wonderring:
The y-axis is the up/down.
I found a paper during my psych degree research which theorised that inversion often comes down to perspective. Inverters apparently tend to view the camera as a physical mechanism wthin the virtual environment to be manipulated much like their neck would move to adjust the view in real life. Non-inverters allegedly see the environment purely as an interface so their logic dictates up be up and down be down.

Of course, we adapt to different styles, but I think our initial approach may indeed be dictated about whetther you use the creative or logical side of your brain.

Hrrrm... I should have done my thesis on this and not VR. :-/

Does that explain why I can only use invert while in third person?
Like in gears of war i can use either, but it drives me insane in Call of duty

If it's a game that involves flying planes, I invert the Y axis for the planes only (if possible)

Everything else, down is down, up is up

Evil. I hate inverted Y axes, they give me motion sickness. I often have to stab my housemate for messing with my controller.

Non-inverted for most games, inverted for flight sims. Seems more logical that way.
