Because a game needs to stand alone on campaign and the Halo series (excluding Halo:CE) falls shorter than a drunk midget on an escalator.

And so far the silent majority seems to answer no, or not care.

Why hate Halo? Did Halo come and kill your family, eat your dog, and leave you an orphan when you were younger? Is Halo the reason you live on the streets smoking crack?

Forget you guys,

I think Halo is a pretty cool guy. eh kills aleins and doesnt afraid of anything...

..so there.

Oh boy a controversial thread trying to start a flame war, but lets focus on grammar first

Everyone says this, I've never grasped why though.
Well its just a general opinion, no need to explain it.
Halo is a mediocre game series but it has gradually gotten worse and so have people's view on the game
Well thats your opinion, to me they were quite good
, why hate a game?
Better question, why hate anything : /
It's a bit stupid, but I was on Halo the other day and tons of my friends were online for some reason after declaring Halo was boring.
What is this I don't even XP

Thoughts?
I got one, why start this thread, its just flame material.

I love halo. It is my favorite FPS series. Only the Mass Effect games are better IMHO.

Halo has started to become overrated, but to say one hates the games is a lie. The first two were great, Bungie just started to lose its way with the third. Most people who say they hate Halo have never played it because they own a Sony or Nintendo console and don't want to admit another console or developer has designed a game that they desire, thus they look for every flaw and can find in order to diminish the value of the game. This doesn't stop them from getting excited every time they hear a rumor its coming to their own console though and now that bungie and activison are working closely together all the Sony fanboys will be dieing to get their hands on whatever they produce.

PS: In regards to Halo being a generic game, just grow up already if that is your only arguement, many people would argue the original Half-Life is a generic game, doesn't change the fact it was great.
Yeah, because going over to a friend's house who has it and playing it there is impossible...
I'm a PS3 owner. Last gen I had a PS2. You could say I'm a PS3 fanboy. I'll take liitlebigplanet over Halo any day. Because LBP is fun, interesting, a fresh take on a platformer, allows creativity (yes I know about forge), you can make a variety of experiences in the level builder, and it has a nice, accepting, and more mature online community.
Halo 1 had a good story. The books have a good story. Halos 2-3 do not.
Halo (all of them) have repetitive areas, poor enemy AI, bad voice acting, and it is extremely generic. When it came out, it was one of the few Space marine badass killing aliens. Now, that same title has become generic. Half life has the Orwellian society (at least in 2), good story, and varied level design going for it. The majority of the Halo franchise does not. I've played halo, and was not impressed. And you, Crimsion Sniper, are not different from the other fanboys. You are blinded by loyalty to the xbox that you can't believe halo has flaws and you must degrade anyone who says otherwise. Halo looked cool. I do not desire it because...THE PS3 HAS LITTLEBIGPLANET!!!
BTW, I think that Bungie is cool and would be willing to buy a good, non generic game made by them. That doesn't mean Halo is any less of a generic shooter with a poor story and copy and pasted environments.
P.S. Halo fans cause a deep burning hatred in my soul.

Another thread where idiots voice their opinions and say it is the voice of God.

If I go by the logic that everyone has on why a game sucks then I guess all these games suck because they are share a similar if not equal footing in terms of what everyone lists,

According to the fanbase, these listed games suck:

Halo
Killzone
Half-Life
Gears of War
Metal Gear Solid
F.E.A.R.
Crysis
Resistance
Boarderlands
Call of Duty Series ESPECIALLY Modern Warfare 1 and 2.
Every FPS ever made
Every Playstation game ever made
Every Xbox game ever made
Every Nintendo game ever made.

All these are considered the worst games ever made.

Truth is, if you go by every opinion every jackass who calls himself a gamer says than every single game ever played sucks.

Just remember people, a game has a fanbase for a reason. If that fanbase is big enough then you know that there is something the game did right to receive that.

Opinions are only opinions and that's it. You don't have to like Halo, but a true gamer accepts that it is a well put together game. The success alone is proof of that.

I don't like the Metal Gear games, but I can see why people like them and why they are popular.

Half-life 2 is copy paste. The game doesn't change much from Episode 1 to episode 2. Wow

Modern Warfare 2 is copy paste. "We fight Russians. Wow, like no one has done that before." and how about all the World War 2 shooters? Aren't they all copy paste? Modern Warefare might as well be Goldeneye 007 with a new coat of paint.

Metal Gear Solid is copy paste. "A man sneaking around." Yeah Splinter Cell anyone? I guess that makes Metal Gear SOlid 4 generic since Thief, Splinter Cell, Call of Cthulhu, and many others did the whole "stealth."

You are blaming Halo for being generic when everyone else tried to copy them? Yeah space marines were around for a while, but nothing like Halo. The other space marines were either fighting bugs that bleeds acid or aliens that were killed by colds

Little Big planet? Creatures that traverse landscapes using tools? Yeah Lemmings dd that too and that was way ahead of its time. Just so happens that they added customization in it which is inevitable seeing how fast technology grows. I could even say it even copies Mario with the side scrolling.

What happens if they create Little Big planet 2 or something else? More copy paste. What about Spore? Sim Earth anyone?

The argument that something is "generic" based on previous made games can be applied to anything made today. Sure the game made today are more complex and add more stuff, but down at it's roots it nothing that hasn't been done before.

All the games I listed are good and they offer different things. None of them are really "bad," but some of them are dated or the idea behind it is dated. Little Big Planet is not that original. It has been done, but LBP is the first one to have the degree that is does what it does.

Halo was the same way. Halo did things that were awesome and fun, but soon everyone tried to copy Halo and they ruined the good name that it once had.

BTW, I hate fanboys like you because you only think one dimensionally. You think only your product is "the best" and you think everything it does is the miracle of god.

Until then, KillZone is the better franchise.

edit: ok, whose fucking birthday is it that the major clique all have the same avatar?
As an xbox fanboy, I'm contractually obliged to love Halo, and I do.

I believe I'm also obliged to make off-colour remarks about the sexuality of any sony fanboys, their mothers, and their dogs... I've never really got the hang of that bit though.

What's up with the all the usual first posters having the same avatar?

EDIT: Hang on, I bet it's something to do with P.R.I.A.T.E. This sort of thing always is. I'll check. If I don't come back, they've probably found me. Hiding from them is difficult...

Have at you good sir, good sir who quite clearly smells of poo.

The Xbox isn't designed very well, since its your console of choice I assume that this reflects poorly on you and I for one demand satisfaction, ten paces at dawn good sir?

Lets see... the gatling spider would probably kill master chief, unless Doomguy BFG'd him first, and if it's a small area with no cover than Spidey would probably kill Doomguy too. However, if it's a big ma like E3M8, than Doomguy would probably kill the gatling gun spider with 3 close range BFG shots. Doomguy or the Spider Mastermind wins. Now, if a Cyberdemon gets involved, this is a much different scenario...
It's a generic area with cover.
It's the final level of Doom 1. There are cyberdemons, but they can't get you in the center building.
Same result =)

[sub]sorry I didn't shrink it[/sub]
If they exist, then they are on that doom 2 level where you can flip the switch and squish them all. The switch (for this sake) is guarded by the spider mastermind. Or the city level where they are about 10 of them running around randomly.
Or, for the sake of humor, it's in the room where there are twenty of them and both DG and MC are standing in the pool of acid. Shoot fast!

Now can we please lock the thread? 9 times out of 10 Halo threads like this devolve into flame wars.
I agree.

We all have an opinion, that'll never change.

Pistols at dawn are overrated and old fashioned. I propose we each use the previous iteration of our console of choice to bludgeon each other with. Mostly because the original xbox physically can't be destroyed...

I liked Halo 1, was disappointed by 2, tried (and didn't care much for) Halo 3. Rented ODST yesterday and liked it. Albeit short, but, hey, it's alright. The Halo series went downhill (for me) at Halo 2. It was too easy, the story was lame, the AI was overrated ("THEY CAN SHOOT AT THE SAME TIME AND STRAFE! HOW ADVANCED!"), and the only redeeming factor was the multiplayer. Halo always had a good MP game. The thing is, I don't really care. Much like what Yahtzee was talking about - good games have good single-player modes, and can hold up by itself on just that, and shouldn't have to crutch itself on its Multi-player. I liked ODST because it doesn't focus so much on Multi-player, and it has a pretty decent story. It's difficult because now they brought back the health bar from Halo 1, and I love a good challenge! (Anybody want to play? Add me on Live, I could use the help/achievements). I daresay that ODST did somewhat rekindle my Halo interest.

The games alright, I find it very typical, I just don't get why some people (including a close friend of mine) are all over it like it's best thing ever, I personally don't like Masterchief either as he is boring and emotionless... then again I'm not the world's biggest fan of FPS's anyway :p

Why the fuck do so many of you have that Lady Gaga avatar? Am I missing something?

OT: I thought Halo to be mediocre... I liked 1's story mode, 2's multiplayer was fun for a bit, and I haven't played 3 or ODST.

Wow, four pages and no flame war yet, just a few minor arguments and a "who would win" competition. This thread has as much fire as Master Chief has personality.
We'll keep you updated as events change. Back to you Lady Gaga avatars.
