I haven't noticed them being unfair. Every time I've seen someone get mod wrath, it's been deserved.
Just writing first or such. They ban people on Yahtzee's page for no reason at all. read the latest and see why the first four people were banned. Absolutely no reason. I condone anything that suppresses freedom of speech.
Writing "first" is against the rules of the forum. Free speech or not, you must follow the rules of the forum you are posting in.

The mods are just making sure the rules are adhered to.

I said yes. (Not that the ones here are actually unfair, just that the type of mods we have are, if that makes sense?)

I always hate having moderators who are from the forum community. I hate members having more power than others, making them appear superior.

The only mods I actually respect are the ones who actually work for the company hosting the forum.

They're probated or suspended because they comment before it's even possible to have watched the video. Look at the times they posted at compared to the time the video was put up.

And I feel the mods do a fine job. From what I understand, they don't go around searching for things to hit with the hammer, but wait for users to hit a shiny red button over to the left of a post to bring it to attention, then decide what to do.

I think they were put on probation for commenting before they could have watched the video. (The posts are tagged at 3 minutes after the posting of a 6-minute video.) It's basically posting "first".

EDIT: Or, the above post.

They quite directly put in the forum rules that posting low content posts, such as "FIRST" is against the rules and that is typically why there are groups of bannings at the top of Yahtzee's videos.

But yes overall the mods seem to do a fairly good job around here.

And ninja'd on the first part.

I love it here. This is easily the best forum on the web. It has people you can hold a conversation with for more than 5 seconds. I mean, c'mon! It's not like I'm saying this because of the fear of an Orwellian nightmare watching over me...

The mods here on the Escapist are very good.Maybe the best moderatorship that I have seen on all my years on the interwebz.
But I have also been a part of websites that had horrible moderating.

Have your say. (Even when I'm writing this post I know I may get suspended for trying to resist Big Brother.)
This isn't Big Brother. That statement makes you look quite demanding.

I love these mods, they're great. They're a heck of a lot better than Maple Story mods.

Anytime I see a post that got suspended or something, it's usually because they deserved it. So I'd say they're pretty fair from what I've seen.

No, I've never seen any really unfair things happen here, unlike some sites which ban you for opinions.

Also, word of warning, these threads don't usually last too long.
This is what I am talking about. You guys are scared to question them.
Ummm... no. Quite a few people are friends with the mods, some IRL, no less.

Well I guess if you all agree that they are fair. Still no one had actually given their choice on the poll. I still think you're all scared of BB, but anyway...

I would say they are fair. I have not seen any reason to doubt their judgment.

I have to say yes.

Mostly because i once saw a user banned for expressing his views on the value of moral without religious guidance.

(An Atheist that said that he thought that Atheist had moral highground because they do good without fear of punishmennt or hope of reward.)
You are going to have to show us the quote for us to side with you

Well, there's a simple test for that. If your posts get you disciplinary action, I'll feel worse about my security with the mods.

I doubt it will happen, though.

Depends from forum to forum, but if we're talking about The Escapist, I think the moderators are totally fair. They're active, too, which is a huge bonus in forums that receive heavy traffic.

Maybe. Most of them are pretty reasonable.

Still, I think they all have "selective look-away syndrome". It's where one guy gets in trouble for something, but another guy who does the same thing gets off of the hook.
I'm gonna go with this^
I myself have never been in any trouble but every now and then I just see a suspension that seems a little unfair. Though I'll admit I might not be getting the whole story. Anywho, the mods on here are really fair and they do give you options to defend youself.

I've never had a problem with the mod's sense of justice on this forum. Whenever I've been warned about one of my posts I've always gone back and thought, "Yeah, it wasn't a good post". It's one of the reasons why I'm still on this site.

Well considering there seems to be no set standard of rules. A lot of the things the mods do seem to be whim based. When there isn't a set standard, and the mods are just as human as the users there is bound to be a cluster fuck of errors and "misjudgments". I'm sure they are given a brief over view of what is "expected". But, from what I've seen around here it's really just a flip of the coin/the mood of the mod...pile on top of that the rampant orgasmic snitching on this site...well the results are all around. It does seem to be based on the size of the site, bigger sites are much more open to interpretation of what is a moderated offense or not. This place being rather small, I guess there's much more room for sanctimonious behavior.

That's what it's about though. To go around saying they are unfair and not getting the perspective of someone with 3000+ would be unwise.

The mods here can be very harsh on things that I don't think that deserve the punishment they get, but overall, they are very fair. They never ban people based on personal reasons.
