Also, word of warning, these threads don't usually last too long.
Doesn't that prove this? If this topic gets closed it more or less proves the point of the topic.
No it doesn't read the rules. Bashing on the mods is against the rules like it is for anyone else. In fact it specifically prohibits creating threads to question the mods and provides official channels for you to do so. Try reading the rules and the posting guidelines sometime.

Well considering there seems to be no set standard of rules. A lot of the things the mods do seem to be whim based. When there isn't a set standard, and the mods are just as human as the users there is bound to be a cluster fuck of errors and "misjudgments".
Again read the damned rules. The guidelines by Kuliani are a great place to start as well and are stickied on the forums.

I've been around the forums longer then most other then staff. The mods are not unfair, and I trust the people Kuliani selects to moderate the forums.
That brings me to a very good point, fanboying of this site. People do it rampantly. Completely kills objectivity around here.
I see, I disagree with you, therefor I am a fanboy? You don't know me, and you don't know why I said what I did, if you did you wouldn't have said that. I never fawned over the site in that post.

I don't get this anyway if you have such a problem leave. It's not like all 158 of your posts have left you with a vested interest in staying here. So what really is the problem? You made an ignorant post, then shown you are wrong. So what now you are going to attack everyone and this site to somehow validate your misguided opinion? I am not bashing you here I simply want you to stop, take a deep breath and ask yourself why you are really going down the path you are. Isn't there something better you could be doing with your time?
Please read comment 64...i like how your tone is completely confrontational. I think I pushed a button there...interesting.

The mods are gods and all shall fear the mighty banhammer.
*Hides in fear*

If you get the wrath of the mods, you probably did something to deserve it.

For the most part, they have been fine, but some people who got in trouble, seems for a silly reason. Also annoys me when some get in trouble when others do not. (Admittedly, some bitterness with that)

I fail to see how correcting you on "There's no set standard of rules" is considered fanboyism. But anywho, there's a reason people come to this site, because they like it. I wouldn't call it "The last haven of intelligence on the internet" that others do, but it's still pretty good.
Again context...

Also people jumping in to defend other peoples conversations is rather, well fanboyish...regardless, thanks for assuming I was referring to anyone specific to this thread or at this given moment. It lends credence to my original points.
You quoted me, and only me. Evey thing else was in my response. Makes it pretty obvious who you where calling a fanboy there sparky. Don't backpedal now.

As for jumping into conversations. This is an open forum. Look up the word forum... Done? Good I figure that's plenty to make my point about this.

So you quoted him, but you weren't responding to him? Then why did you quote him if you weren't referencing what he said? And are you implying that I'm manaman's fanboy? Because I would just like to end any thought of that right now! He's a great guy/sophisticated crab thing I'm sure, but I think fanboy would be going a bit far...

No, I just tend to argue against any point which makes no sense to me, kind of like yours didn't.

Backing out? Hardly, understanding that arguing with random people about a website...really isnt what id like to do with my wkend. Stating my opinion is what i have a right to, just like you have a right to over zealously defend the things you fancy. So, i shall say good night ladies.

Well I guess if you all agree that they are fair. Still no one had actually given their choice on the poll. I still think you're all scared of BB, but anyway...
How the hell is this compared to BB? These guys are just (mostly) volunteers on an internet forum they couldn't care less about monitoring your life. They only even check your posts if you're reported...

Darn it. Here I was thinking I had a fanboy all my own.

I think I am going to drop all discussion with this guy. Now he is just implying that I am insulting him when I made it pretty clear I wasn't. That I was just trying to get him to question his behavior.

Decent, if only a bit haphazard. I've received probations for posting in a soon-to-be-locked thread (never mind all the other people in there) and telling someone I was ignoring them (I fail to see how that was trolling. What the fuck.).

Edit: In all honesty, I would very much like to get away with the occasional one-word reply. I'm honestly sick of having to type stupid random words as gap filler.

Eh, like every regime they sometimes have their bouts of... um... dickery I guess is the best way to put it. It got really bad about a year ago but as of right now, they seem to be doing a bang up job.

When there isn't a set standard, and the mods are just as human as the users there is bound to be a cluster fuck of errors and "misjudgments". I'm sure they are given a brief over view of what is "expected". But, from what I've seen around here it's really just a flip of the coin/the mood of the mod...pile on top of that the rampant orgasmic snitching on this site...well the results are all around. It does seem to be based on the size of the site, bigger sites are much more open to interpretation of what is a moderated offense or not. This place being rather small, I guess there's much more room for sanctimonious behavior.

Be that as it may, its still left to the interpretation of people...who we are to assume are do right? Im sorry, thats still flawed, very much so. There are so many loopholes and unclear wordings there, also context is never fully appreciated, but thats more a basic flaw in a text based world.
I didn't have ANY troubles figuring out what's appropriate and what isn't, as have about 95% of the forum goers.

If you're really that into loopholes, consider going to law school.
Too late already there...granted its military law...but you get the point.
Well, that reinforces a few negative stereotypes...

I don't post here much because the moderation is too high. I like moderation, but in moderation. I prefer forums where the users moderate themselves, if anyone knows what I mean. You'll be called out for being retarded. The Darkfall forums before the game came out is the best example I can think of. That place became a cult, but we loved it and the moderators didn't throw bans in all directions unless they needed to.

Have your say. (Even when I'm writing this post I know I may get suspended for trying to resist Big Brother.)
well, i've seen some unfair moderation on other sites, but our mods protect us, the innocent citizens of the escapist, from our mortal enemies-the trolls. i'd rather have some extra scrutiny on my posts than have to deal with ignorance and trolling. there's nothing i have to say on a public forum that can't hold up to review by a moderator, and i appreciate the ones we have here because they promote debate above argument, and i'm glad there are people in this world that understand the distinction.

These kinds of threads don't usually end well. I've never found it to be a good idea to ask these sorts of questions in thread form.

So far, I find the level of moderation in the forums reasonable. I don't see them as being unfair. Then again, I've never been in trouble with any of the moderators here. Also, if you were hit by a mod's hammer, it was probably your fault.

I would say that the mods here are good, but maybe a little over-zealous sometimes. For instance, when someone gets a probation for something harmless like low content posting.

I DO have two suggestions for the mods though.

1. Require every Mod to put a short explanation on a person's post whenever they are banned or put on probation for it. I know that most of the time they do, but it should be mandatory.

2. Have the Mods be less critical the fewer the posts someone has.
