I get the opposite, I'm a leftist in a small rural Manitoban town. Everyone here is very right-winged. I also get "made fun of" for being a nerd, then I explain to people the proper way to handle knives against a human opponent. That scares them off.

I'm a Mormon. And I spent two years as a missionary. Can definitely say I saw a lot of discrimination there. Also, just look at the anti-Mormon anti-Prop 8 commercial from California 3 years ago.

A fellow Mormon! Yay!

Using a very loose definition of "discriminated against..." Let's just say that having blue hair severely limits one's job opportunities. Recently, I've been able to get around it by wearing a (hot, itchy, uncomfortable) wig to work.

I don't think that sort of appearance-based discrimination is on the same level as discrimination based on race, gender, sexual preference, religion, etc. After all, I chose to dye my hair blue, and I have the option of covering it up or dyeing it brown again. Still, it does affect my life, and it's pretty systematic--it's difficult to find a job where blue hair isn't, at the very least, a strike against you in the interview. Hopefully that will change as people become more open-minded.

You have been discriminated for THAT? Lesbian Asian woman is one of the hottest things ever! Tis crazy world we live in.
when i was little, someone threw a McDonalds drink at my head and screamed "go back to china you *****!" so yes on the asian bit.

i was told by some christian nut job at school that being a lesbian meant i was an evil whore and going to hell.

The fact that I have little desire to speak to people that don't interest me. And the fact that I'm Russian. Yeah, it happened. And each time that I've been told to suck it up because it's 'badass Russia' is each time said person should go suck on a fat one, as it excuses nothing.

All the time sadly. *sigh*

As a transsexual and a lesbian, I can't even leave my flat without walking in to a world of discrimination. It's sad that the world we live in is such a cruel place. People can be so nasty. I try as hard as possible to never discriminate against anyone, for anything, as this is the only way to stomp out the problem forever. If I don't do it, then sooner or later everyone else will stop to (I hope)

I agree. I don't let what people say about me bother me. Because that's letting them win.

OT: Some people mock me for my somewhat Conservative Libertarian beliefs. But other than that, no. Not really.
Wow, love that whole "victim = choice" concept you're sharing there. There's some quote from Shakespeare about that mindset, but for the life of me I can't remember it...

OT: I cannot answer any particular one of those options exclusively, and even an "all of the above" option would miss out on some gems.
Words have no more weight against me than I allow them to. I simply don't allow something that would bother me to bother me. Quite simple, really.

Actions yes, those you've the right to be angry about. But words? Walk it off.
Look up Borderline Personality Disorder. Read. Realise not everyone is given that option, as it's taken away. All those that suffer from this have to do monumental works daily to one day get to where you so blithely already are...
Not sure if you're accusing me of having it or...

All right. For them, they get an exception. But for most adults, if people saying anything negative about you can illicit such a response, then please, go live off in a cave somewhere.

Yes, for my accent. For some reason, people here think that ' speak funny', and that repeating words, or questions I ask completely straight faced, is completely normal, and not rude at all. Also, in seventh grade (which was when I moved here) my classmates did not want anything to do with me, and just speaking to me was 'a no-go; she' from etc. she speaks weirdly, it is not proper Norwegian...'.

I got a little of it when I was a kid for having buck-teeth due to my overbite (since corrected) and when I got older for being a loner with long hair who listened to metal.

Over time I build up a group of good friends and came out of my shell more, towards the end of my time at school I could have a pleasant conversation and joke about with people I previously had hated. I'll say right off the bat that much of the mockery was deserved, I was quite the twat during my early to mid teens.

Yeah some people have refused to sell me merchandise (TimeSplitters 2 and some T-Shirts) because I'm Mexican, unsurprisingly enough this happened in Arizona I don't remember how the town was called since I was just passing by on my way to California and this happened before that stupid ass law was approved.

Well, since you asked, I have been discriminated against,

because I am a man, in primary school there were only a few boys in my grade, thus we were always singled out by the others when ever they felt like some trickery.

because I am white, I was told in highschool that I could not hang out with one of my friends anymore, because I wasn't 'asian' enough for his group... whatever that means

Politically, but everyone has, not allowed to debate in a discussion because I had so and so views that were predetermined before I got the chance to argue otherwise.

Everyone deals with discrimination, but I don't see the big deal.

Just because I'm black people always think I'm gonna rob from work and be real clumsy.

Mostly I've just been discriminated against for being a furry.

I'm not one of those who goes HI IM MAX AND IM A FURREH or anything, either. It comes up in conversation somehow, and I'm immediately seen as being all sorts of things I'm not. It's kind of more of a preconception thing. Like if you found out your internet friend was black and asked him if he wanted to play hoops or something.

It mostly bothers me because I get a lot of hate for something that really doesn't tell someone much about me. But judging by a lot of the responses here, I'm not alone in that.
What a world.
