Well my High school experience is... in progress. But so far so good ;)

Godawful in nearly every conceivable way. I was large, disabled, and started puberty at nine and had C-cup bras by age eleven. In an itty-bitty rural HS in the 1980s. I didn't have a chance.

It was fine generally. My only problem was that I was too much of a loner and didn't really socialize much or get into clubs.

Still in high school, it really sucks. Go to school, learn literally nothing all day, come home and do things that will actually get me a career that I want at some point. I learn more about math making games then I do in math class... and that says something.

Edit: Not having any problems with bullying so far...

How do you rate a vacation where you discovered three new activities you love but got food poisoning from the hotel's buffet?

I made friends in high school who are almost as dear to me as family; I also had to deal with people in high school I would be hard pressed not to deck if I ever saw them in person again, which I have no intention of doing (see them in person, that is- on the punching I'll continue to reserve the option.) I went to the most open, liberating, and intelligent high schools in my city, but I was so relieved to not have to deal with the attitudes and people pervasive in my state that I didn't fully understand that relief until I was long gone. I made rooms full of people listen to me with attention and respect, and I also once got taken away from the school grounds in an ambulance.

What I'm trying to say here, in case it wasn't clear, is that I have a hard time reducing the experience to a number of stars.

Great TV was still on
Awesome Music came out during those years
Had A group (The Crew) of friends
Went on school trips
Had a few GF's
Parties
Played Football for 2 years
Made good to above average grades
Took summer courses so Senior Year I left school around 11:30 almost everyday
Won Awards
Won Scholarships

Ya know, It's true what they say. You don't realize how great High school (Or youth in general) was till you look back. If I could go back. (2001-2005 High School) WITH ALL I KNOW NOW... I'd do it.

But If I had to go back to High School as a teen now, in 2011 High School oh Hell NO.
I love to think of the past from time to time but I'm good where I am now.

Considering I was borderline suicidal which was brought on by intense depression, the result of being teased, mocked and generally treated like shit for 4 years straight I'd say highschool could have been better.

But hey don't let me ruin all the fond memories of everyone elses highschool time.

Freshmen year: Boring and shitty
Sophomore year: Decent
Junior year: Best year ever. It literally defined high school for me.
Senior year: Chill.

Christian schools are hell.
At least, mine was.
This. I was both lucky and unlucky at mine though. Lucky because I am an athletic dude and that is one way to at least make the time pass quickly and guarantee that people respect you, particularly if you were halfway decent. I was unlucky in that I was the "poor kid" at my school. Understand that my parents do VERY well for themselves, Mom teaches and Dad is an IT guy that makes a considerable sum per year. But one of my classmates got a brand new chevy silverado for his 16th birthday, didn't like it, traded it in and got a VW Toureg, didn't like it and then settled on a lightly used ford f-150. This was the norm for the school. I would never EVER go back.

People who say that highschool was the best time of your life seriously need to get out more.

I would rather die than go back to that hellhole. I'm not even exaggerating or joking I was miserable.

People try to add me on facebook that made my life hell for 5 or 6 years. Yeah you are part of the reason I have PTSD and anxiety disorder of course I want to be friends with you. >_>

I get the feeling that there's a massive cultural difference between Australian schools and American ones, because asfar as I can tell from tv and movies - probably not the mow accurate sources, I'll admit - they seem utterly different. Senior school is fun, most of the teachers are great, and I'm having a good time. My school is obsessed with religion, but even that isn't too bad, and it's easy enough to ignore, after a while.

I enjoy the after high school period to be honest. It's so much more awesome and people are so much more mellow. Stuff that whole growing, emotional stuff.

High School was lifes way of apologizing to me for the agonizing suicide desiring hell fire that was grade school.

I had friends, (and even 2 knew me well!), I was popular, but in a geek way. And girls found me attractive. All in all, high school was good. I was no star quarterback, but damn it I was somebody and it was nice.

Seeing as I was frequently set upon by kids I didn't even know and seeing as my teachers were rather afraid of the underclass kids whilst sucking up to the rich kids, I was singled out for being lower-middle-class, getting good grades without much effort and for - honestly - not owning a pair of GHD straighteners. I'm not making this up, I was ridiculed for having CURLY HAIR. And when I tried to express my anger at my classmates for how they treated me, they dismissed me by calling me a "creep" or a "freak" (both words which are now utterly devoid of meaning) and one even going so far as to suggest that our small town community collectively tell me to "Fuck off!".

Auchterarder - a place of racist, homophobic, xenophobic EVIL. Excuse me while I shake with rage in the corner.

To be completely honest, it wasn't BAD, but it was a complete waste of time. We go to high school at 14 here and we are FORCED to choose what specialization we want, sooooo if you choose the wrong one (being 14 and completely devoid of any calling in life) it is a massive waste of time.

That's the only reason high school here is a joke and even if you DO pick a "right" spec, the material is so outdated and useless it's laughable, but at least you can have SOME interest. And no, I don't consider it a place to "socialize", all my best friends were not from my school and we saw each other plenty.
