As a true Swede I chose "Neither side and remain neutral", though tbh I'd root for England.

This!
Sweden is great and all that but there is to much of a "Shhh!-Perhaps-they-didn't-see-us!"-mentality over the nation, and there has been for a LONG time. But I would root for England, no doubt about it.
The best thing is... When they had fight their war and the costs have crippled both nations. Let's just say you should start liking Meatballs quite soon, world...

Mwahaha! We will reign supreme!

This is worth posting on the topic:

It would likely be a one-sided affair, I would likely support the Pro-American English faction.

We just de-commissioned our only remaining aircraft carrier - anyone who sided with us would be retarded ^_^

Plus, I have a feeling that the US would have to release us our own launch codes before we could even think of using our deterrent.

And even if we did think of using it, just what, three modern nukes would pretty much blanket the entire UK in lethal radiation whilst taking out all major cities.

In fact, given how much of a dick our government is I'd probably fuck off and chill in Sweden or Switzerland and do my best to not give a fuck :/

Waes should be fought personally by the guys who start them - make life a hell of a lot better for the rest of us just trying not to get fucked by politicians and corporations!

As an American, I would likely just hide in the mountains and just keep away from the war. Why? Chinese invasion. While the US and Britain are fighting, if the US does go full out (excepting nukes), that would leave the entire West Coast unguarded. But knowing this country, there would be something over there still.

All I can say is that I bet our nuclear subs are probably hiding near the UK (as well as who knows how many other places). So... if anything happened, a few missiles could get launched before any sort of other attack even took place.

What I would prefer to see is if some country could get a mass VR simulation so that countries could train by warring each other... virtually. That might be a bit better, wouldn't you say?

Well the War would end up just like the Cold War in that no fightnig occured for fear of bieng nuked into obliveon. Either that or both sides would nuke each other into a tiny radioactive blob. Nothing else would matter.

We Netherlandic Folk have been neutral, or atleast attempted to be neutral for every mayor war. ( besides whatever is going on now ofc, and somethings before that.) England VS USA would pretty much be WW 3, so I suppose we would be neutral, or support England since they are closer. We could also support both. [sub]we could also... and ...[/sub]
I am not into politics much :D

The only reason I can see America going to war with us is because we're more Left Wing than they are and in that aspect I think a few European country's would at least show some form of support, if not out of similar ideals then because of the "we're next" train of thought. Overall I think we'd probably lose. Although I feel our military is better trained and more cautious and disciplined (NO THAT DOES NOT MEAN THE US MILITARY IS BAD) we won't be able to compete with the numbers advantage without a lot of allies. Even if we get invaded though I don't see it lasting for more than a few years as I doubt this will sit well with some of the bigger and more threatening countries. On the other hand we could try and get some nukes and threaten Nuclear War in the hopes of causing a stalemate.

As a Scotsman I have to say a big "Fuck you" to both England and America. We'll be kicking back in the Highlands drinking whisky and placing bets with France on how things finish.

Yeah two countries, both with enough nukes to turn the world into a glowing sheet of glass...

why is the discussion going into any more details than this?

I blame Homefront for this new wave of crazy what if scenario threads.

If Nick Griffin get's into power by some cruel mockery of justice I hope to see American come and kick him out of office, the bigoted moron. As it were, I live in England, but I'd "side" with whomever I considered in the right. Whoever started the war would have to defend their position, then if I thought it reasonable I'd stay / leave as I see necessary. Despite what has been said it would be very unlikely to come to nuclear conflict, both countries are too well aware both the toll of human life and the message that declares to the world. Even ones own citizens are likely to revolt if you begin aiming attacks at civilians.

As it is, there doesn't appear to be any conflicting treaties or alliances that would mean the UK / England and the US would be obligated to honour and find one another of opposite sides. Nor are either of us at this time interested in expansion? Nothing of our futures is certain; something may arise that causes friction between our relationship, maybe fuel, that could lead to hostilities. It'd be a dark time for us all. Especially given the other major powers in the world would likely be facing the same plights.

I'm from a very Yorkshire family. Ergo I'd be taken out and shot if I didn't choose England.

America has Nuclear weapons, and if they didn't, they'd probably fight with sheer numbers. England has the better trained military, but America has numbers, so if it weren't for the nukes, we'd have to fight with Guerrilla warfare and tactical insertions and the like. Wouldn't be easy, though, there's so damn many of you. Plus you have looser gun laws, so civilian combat would probably take place. I suppose we have Nukes, too, but if there's nothing else fearsome about America, it's their WMDs

I'm an American, but I wouldn't really support either side. I'd hope that America wins this one nice and quick, but I'd just continue on with life and hope not to get drafted. The world must be a hard place when too nations that used to be so close decide to go to war with each other.

I'm English. All I would say is, if England threw the first stone then we'd quickly get crushed by America and all the military help they can get. At best, we could try to persuade some third world countries to help us, but more likely than not they'd rather see us fall than survive. If America started the war though for some obscene reason, well, that'd be interesting.
If the U.S did...and went all out ya know...and not dicking around like we do in the sandbox....It could be over in less than a month
You're right. If England starts it, it'd be over fast since America would just trash England. However, if America started it, thanks to the rest of Europe and other countries like Canada and Australia, it'd probably be over pretty fast. However, war is never simple and those pesky current inhabitants would interfere with the invading army's plans.

Again, depends who starts the war.

First off... why? For god's sake, why? We have no beef with the Brits. Not only does this country have no reason for war against the UK, but it's one of my personal favorite countries: it's at the top of my "places I want to visit one day" list.

Despite all that, as a future military man, I'd be obligated to side with the US of A. Doesn't mean I'd be a fan of Abrams tanks rolling into London.
