I'm straight and I've got six cats. I was also very attached to a cat that I'd raised since birth who died young. I like dogs to.

It's not that straight men don't like pink, it's that gay and/or insecure men are afraid of what people will think of them liking pink.

There's nothing ballsier then looking a big scary stereotype in the face and saying "I'll do whatever I fucking want!, if you don't like it then you get the fuck out of my face before I bash your fucking skull in, with my pink Barbie Collectors Edition Baseball Bat, *****!"

When people see that you're not intimidated by trends they'll respect you more for it, and feel less boxed in BY the trend.

I think cats are great. When I get my own house or rent an apartment I intend to get one or two pet cats. Plus, I am a very lazy guy and to me cats seem like the lazy man's best friend.

Cats are bags of piss with legs.

You know the worst thing about kittens? They grow up to be cats.

Damned, stupid cats...

All that aside, I love cats. Especially smart ones that can open their own freaking doors instead of clawing the crap out of the wood and carpet.

As for if men are weird for loving cats? It's about as weird as men loving pussies, which is not at all.

Every cat looks like they're scheming for household domination.
They start of as cute little fuzz-balls, so that you don't run them through with a spear, and by the time their evil begins to show, they've already corrupted your soul so much that you can't see it.

I'm a dog person myself. Working dogs (or sheep dogs) are a personal favourite (all of my dogs have been cross breeds of sheep dogs).

OT: Cats are creepy and are only loved because they are 'fuzzy, wuzzy adorable', which is not a very masculine reason to have a pet. So yes, it is weird when men (the gender, not the sex) love cats, because it is so very contrary to the rest of their image.
I've got to say that there are more reasons to love a cat. They're just good companions in general. My cats have always been more loyal to me than my dog. Instance: I get sick, nap on the couch. My dog raids the kitchen and eats everything. My cat curls up next to me and cleans my hair
I would've said the exact opposite. Every cat I've met has either still been a kitten or has looked like they were one moment of weakness away from mauling my face off (sometimes they are both!). My dog, on the other hand, loves me to bits. We can just hang out, lying on the grass and he'll come up and make sure I haven't hurt myself (as a cause of the lying down), then he'll hang out next to me, give me a lick, rest his head on my stomach and just chill. And whenever I get home he races up to me all excited, tail wagging.

I guess it really depends on the individual pet. I have probably just had bad luck with cats, but I've found them to be lazy, self-absorbed, evil balls of furry death, whereas the grumpiest dogs I've seen are just being territorial (which is understandable), and for the most part they are friendlier, more energetic and engaging, and are just better companions in almost every way (except that they pee on anything new that's bigger than a breadbox, but I've always viewed dogs as 'outside pets'.
I think it really depends on the person. Me, I just connect with cats really well. Grumpy cats like me. Friendly cats love me. My cats always greet me at the door. Whenever I faint or fall over(I have some health issues), my cat comes to make sure I'm alright. I just have bad experiences with dogs since I've gotten stitches from them biting me on occasion

I'm... gonna... say... yes.

Mostly because I'm a dog person but... cats. Meh. They're aesthetically pleasing but as far as personalities go you get better from a plastic houseplant. At least they don't try and break your neck by walking through your legs and bite your feet for no goddamn reason.

Also the only man I know who liked cats had a... very strange cat. It looked like it had been possessed by a demon. And not in the badass "Oh man my pet is so cool you guys it's straight from Hell!" way; it was just... disconcerting.

I don't see any thing wrong with a guy liking cats a lot. I like rats a lot if that shows anything. You should see the expression on peoples faces when I tell them that.

I was once injured by a dog at a young age, so I suppose I'm biased, but I've mainly gotten over it and I still don't like dogs. Plus, cats are just better
Me as well. Didn't stop us from getting a Doberman though. Sadly, he died on Aug. 10, 2010.

As for cats, well, that depends. I love the cats that belongs to one of my relatives, especially the black one. Makes me wanna stop what I'm doing so I can scratch his head.

I don't like the cats that hang around my home though, especially when it's night time and they start crying and shouting.

Now, If you'll excuse me, Mr. Sanders is calling me to get his scratch post. And some fish.

Wait...where's the poll?

OP: Cats are a practical pet. They crap in the same 2 square feet every time so there's no hunting for it. They don't need to be walked. They're hilarious and very entertaining. And every cat has a distinct personality. I'm a straight dude, and I'm a cat person.

Besides, with a cat, you can also say you get some pussy. Heyoo!

personally I dislike both cats and dogs.....and birds.....and fish but that's because I'm lazy. All for personal reasons mind you, I don't think anything less of anybody man or women who prefers cats over dogs or vice versa. So no I don't think it wrong for a man to love cats.

It had never occurred to me that it might be unusual for men to like cats until I started seeing articles that said "It's OK For Straight Men To Like Cats" and then other articles that say quite the opposite. So, is it really that weird for men to love cats? For girls, is it a turn-off if your date says that he's a "cat person"? I'm not trying to make you all love cats, I'm just curious.
I see no weirdness in men keeping and caring for our fuzzy felines. Do people think that doing so makes you Jon Arbuckle or something?

Cats are cute! Love them a lot. There's actually an entire family of them living in my neighborhood. I leave out a dish of milk from time to time. So cute.

Also, catgirls.
