For me, the biggest problem is a problem I've had with a lot of games and related services: they're holding features I want behind things they want. Example. Origin. There are a lot of game I really like (like DA:O) that requires you to get an origin account to play it (it used to be an EA account, but it got converted, I believe). As such, EA frequently boasts that millions of people are using and loving origin. No... actually you held the game I bought to ransom until I got an origin account. This does not mean I support origin. Unfortunately, there's no option to add subtext saying you are buying or using something under duress.
Getting back to the point of the thread, I feel like microsoft is doing the same thing. There are some things about it I like/want, like the voice control for, say, netflix, or the nice simple controller, or any of the exclusive titles. But if I buy it, my purchase will not indicate to them that I object to all the many stupid and blatantly anti-consumer policies that are being implemented with it. Instead, it will be used to validate them in the future. And I'm sick and tired of validating things I don't agree with.
