I'm fine with the idea. For one it keeps the game competitive for people who want to be competitive, and secondly it allows the groups of assholes to play together without bothering anyone else so that all the hate and rage against F2P players is concentrated on just a few servers instead of having a little of it everywhere.
That assumes two rather hilariously unlikely things:

1) All TF2 players who bought the game are super-good at it. Yeah. Riiiiight.

2) All TF2 players who use the F2P version have A) never played the game before B) terrible at it and C) monstrous assholes.

Care to justify either of those?
In answer to 1: No, not all TF2 players who bought the game are super good at it, but they have played longer, know the maps better, and have more and better weapons than the people who just started.

In answer to 2: I never said that the F2P players are assholes. I meant that the people who use this plug-in are the assholes. You completely misread that. And yes, the majority of the people who do TF2 F2P either never played the game before, or played very little of it, because anyone who had much interest in the game in the first place would have already bought it during the many years of the game's existance up to now. Again, the F2P players aren't worse at the game, but they are in a much less competitive state because they don't know the maps or have any weapons but the basics.

Honestly though, are their any F2P players who would actually want to play on the servers that use this plug-in? I don't think so, so the plug-in really doesn't hurt anyone.
So obviously because "their kind isn't wanted around there," they'd have no desire to play there? Man, you're a master of iron-clad logic.
Would YOU want to play with people who constantly insult you through the entire match. No, I didn't think so. If the people don't want to play with F2P players, and are hostile to them, then what exactly would be the draw for F2P players to WANT to play with them?

Snarf snarf snarf, let's do something to keep the dirty, poor, free players out.
It's okay! You can pay for your own servers- Oh wait.
You seem to be working on an assumption here. Protip: It's wrong. I don't play TF2. Never have and the ability to get it for free probably isn't going to make me.

If those who paid full price for TF2 are now so bitter that they want to exclude a slew of new players then fine. P2P users seem to be working on the assumption that everyone who got the game without exchanging currency for it is automatically a useless, dust-eating cretin who is completely incapable of civility or playing the game with any skill.

Why am I so venomous about this if I don't play TF2? The exclusionary behaviour is just that of high-school cliques, or of toddlers throwing their toys out of their prams. It just irks me.
Read the following.

Whenever there was a sale or free weekend there was an influx of new players, but it subsided. Now that the game is F2P there is a rush of new players, the majority of which will stay F2P for a while if not forever. There has always been newbs on servers, but with the plugin it greatly reduces the amount at one time.

Who says f2p players arent as competitive as others
The majority of the F2P players only just picked up the game, and therefore either never played it before or played very little of it, meaning that they would not be very well practiced with the new classes or know many of the maps, and they wouldn't have any of the new weapons, just the basics. I'd say that's enough to consider them temporarily limited on a competitive level.

The funny part is that even if the server plays exactly the same either way people still won't admit that F2P discrimination is bullshit. Anyways, its elitist pricks being arbitrary discriminatory like always so as always I call like I see it and avoid such behavior.

Actually, you know what I want? A plugin that won't let you join unless you've done the tutorials.

I see experienced players complaining about inexperienced ones to be completely immature. Valve implemented the "be a coach" feature for a reason, and even before that if you were smart, you'd know the right (not to mention mature) course of action would be to teach the newbies how to get better in a friendly and welcoming manner.

While I can understand the rage at having something you paid for and worked hard at be opened up to bunch of what you may perceive as jabbering morons, this kind of mod is just elitist. I see the influx of a bunch of F2P players as easy kills.

Well, this is shocking actually... So I'm one of the f2p ones yet I kicked some p2p ass. So now I can't play with them even though I'm at least as good as them just because I didn't play for the game?
I'd understand if it kicked NEW players under a week\2weeks but just all f2p? That's INTERWEBZ RACISM!

as long as it's only on a few servers, they're free to be assholes, although if they wanted to get rid of the multitude of n00b players faster they should let them play on their servers- routinely playing against people who are way better than you is the best way to improve

So basically you're asking me:What do I think about an elitist server?

I don't like the idea, there are more newbies than idiots who just want to improve and to be frank if I started a new game and there was a server for veteran players only, I'd feel more than unwelcome. It's just a way to try and funnel out the terrible and stupid players but there are other ways of doing this.

The server i played on installed this plugin. I was quite... um... public about my disgust of it on it's forums. I did pay for it when the orange box came out. But i couldn't stand the principle that i will be playing on a server that discriminates the people that would join.

I saw this post on the TF2 forums a bit ago and thought to bring it here, so you all know that TF2 is now free to play which leads to two main groups of players, the guys who paid for it and the guys who didn't. Recently a server plugin was released that automatically kicks any F2P player from the server as they try to join, people seem to be really against the plugin calling it "discrimination" as others really like it because it keeps servers "noob free". I was just wondering what the escapist community would think of something like this.
I hope that Valve will do something with it because it stands against its policy.
The fact that TF2 is F2P doesn't make th free players a lesser breed.
Actually....it doesn't. Since they are private servers they are ok to use this plug-in.

Though I guess if enough people complain, they will remove them from the server list.

I think this is crap. I'm an F2P, but I'm not planning on jumping into a lot of big games until I get good. We're not all children.

Then again, look at it from a different angle: The obnoxious, elitist loudmouths will take their junk to a server I can't access, and the skilled, non-elitist players will probably still hang out on other servers. That might just work. :p

Just a note; this plugin was in development before F2P was announced.
The plugin actually uses something that's part of the steam api. People who have paid for Team Fortress 2 before F2P came out had something called "Team Fortress 2 Premium." You can't see it on steam normally, but it's there.
The writer of that plugin found it, as it was aded to steam before F2P was announced. At that point, is wasn't that hard to write a plugin to kick players who didn't have it.

Oh, and any server with the plugin is a self solvign problem.
Valve has a system by which servers are rated. For a server to get a good rating, players must spend lots of time there, as well, you spend time on servers you like. But if you don't spend time there, the server's rating goes down. Therefore, if a player is kicked as soon as they join, the server's rating goes down because the player spent less thana second there. If you've got lots of players constantly trying to connect and then getting kicked by a plugin, the server's rating plummets.
