Well if you pay for the server, you really have the right to use the plugin. Not that I'm against F2P players, though. This is one of the few times that Valve have given me a decent hat.

I think it's disgusting, and I don't even play the game! Why penalize people for saving a couple of quid? F2P palyer does not equal a bad or rude player. Looks like the elitism hierarchy will need a tweaking:

1. P2P PC Gamers
2. F2P PC Gamers
3. PS3/360 Gamers
4. wii Gamers
5. Facebook Gamers
lol what about iPhone gamers :p
I'm pretty sure the P2Players don't even recognise them as gamers. :p

the idea of owning a server is that you can decide who gets to play on there, and that you play how you want to play. theres national servers where you get kicked for not beeing from a certin country, so to me it seems fair if people don't want to play with f2p players then they can do so. theres a shit ton of servers that don't care if your a f2p or not, i certainly do not.

Wow. Just wow. I've been really playing TF2 a lot in the past few weeks since it went F2P, and I've NEVER ran into some F2P idiot. In fact, I can't even tell the difference. I often wonder if that medic healing me is F2P due to the fact that he doesn't have any hats and only the basic weapons, but you know what? He gives me the heals, we get the top 2 scores for our team.

I don't care if you're F2P or P2P, if you play well, great. If you play bad, well that has nothing to do with money or hats, just down to you personally being bad.

Also, I won't be playing on any server that announces it has this 'mod'.

I wish that there was more options in the poll. Not just to be one of those who says that there isn't ever enough options. But, this isn't an issue that you can really be just for or just against.

Where I stand on it is it is up to those who pay the bill for the server in question. Their server, their rules. Granted, this makes for some servers that are really bad unless you fork over money to the all mighty admin. But, it also clumps people that I wouldn't want to deal with into those servers. Let them have pay to win servers where you have to pay a subscription fee. Saves me the trouble of muting players in the long run.

It is the same idea here. Those who set up and play on those servers with knowledge that the plug-in is on it will likely make the lives of F2P players a living hell. Yelling at them for the smallest of mistakes and being general asses to anyone that they even think is a F2P player. If they want their little private sandbox, let them have it. It cleans up the pool of players for those who don't mind the F2P players.

For full disclosure, I'm a P2P player. I've had the game for quite some time and I'm fairly decent. I'm not going to be in any pro leagues. But, I can hold my own most of the time.

Do I personally mind playing with F2P players? No, some of them are surprisingly skilled and can put up a good fight. Others, no so much. But, those who aren't very skilled in TF2 and wish to learn and improve in the game, I have no issues with.

Everyone started a newbie.

I voted "I like this plugin idea" simply because it's about the freedom of server owners to do what they want.

When someone pays for a dedibox or similar, it's up to them to decide what goes on in that box.
Do they want F2P people there, F2P people gets to go there.
If they don't want F2P people there, then the F2P people doesn't get to go there.

It's not your "right" to play on anyone's server. I mean, when we're on the subject, how about banning password-protected servers? I mean, it's like discriminatory! Just because I don't happen to belong to the group of people knowing the arbitrary string of letters I can't join!
VAVLE BAN PLZZZZZZZ!

You know, the sense of entitlement some people have... really...
No wonder you can't ban people anymore without having to deal with a DDoS these days :/

I personally don't mind F2P:s, far from it (they're great fun to backstab repeatedly), and some of my good friends play for free. I mean, as far as I'm concerned this plugin might as well not exist, because people can, as others have mentioned, join more welcoming servers.

So, please drop that attitude. You have absolutely no rights to play on anyone's server. They spend time and money (servers are expensive) in order to keep their server up, because they are nice. Every time you're playing on a server, always know that there's a LOT of work behind it.

Though, if we're talking plugins that shouldn't exist, how about that playercount-spoofing thing? Or the thing that assigns various names and pings to bots, so you think you're playing on a server with people on it.
That if anything, is unethical.

How could you possibly complain about this plugin? The only people who it really affects are those that got the game for free and to those people I would say YOU GOT THE GAME FOR BLOODY NOTHING. If you complain about anything to do with it you are expecting far too much from a free game.

Good, all good servers have rules. Wether it's to block specific player or certain styles of playing. All that gives a way better server.
Sorry for the guys that want to get in, but it's not like it's the only server out there.

I think it's pretty offensive, why would being F2P influence your skill, but the way I see it is that if they don't want F2P players, then I'm pretty sure that the F2P players wouldn't want to be there either.
When will the opposite plugin come?

That's horrible...

It's as bad as 'can I play with you?' 'no, I HATE you'.
[sub]No, I didn't hear that often when I was very very young[/sub]

I reckon people supporting the plugin are acting like a bunch of children and should grow up and wake up to reality, Free to Play is here to stay and Valve and changing it's stance. instead of wanting segregation (i thought the world grew past this stupidity by now, next thing you know theres going to be a Civil Rights Movement for Free to play players.) i think people should accept F2P and instead of shunning the noobs, we should welcome them and teach them how to play. Don't act so self entitled.

If your complaining about an influx of player your looking at the whole issue wrong. It takes time for new users to become valuable members of a community.

I don't mind it being there but I will not actively seek out servers with the plugin, I personally don't care less. But if a group of people wish to play on a server with the plugin then fine, let them do it.

The poll lacks an "I understand why they'd want that" option. I'm not entirely liking it but the servers are paid for and the people paying for it have any right to deny people who are new and won't play their classes very well the time on their servers. It's probable that the server owners have limited free time and they don't want to put up with explaining the game and enduring a new guy messing up as they are bound to do (which isn't bad as long as they're learning). I can't say I would want every server to deny new players, but if they don't want anyone on their server other than people they know, that's their right as it is their server.

There's probably some who just don't want new players and want to be snobbish like that, but I suppose the majority just has limited time and don't want to take care of new players. It's not a crime to keep a server private, nor is it objectionable. It's their right to not allow players who don't know what they'll have to do with their class into their game. Just as there are servers for Swedish, Dutch or German speaking people only, it's their decision on how they want their private leisure time to be like.

Of course. Every noob is a F2P. Wow, hooray for generalizing.

This is stupid. Is paying to buy the game a requirement to be a douchebag, a rookie or a microphone spammer ? No. There are assholes on both sides of the spectrum. This is a malevolent and spiteful action against people that simply want something to do on their free time.

And noob free? Hah! If they ever REALLY cared, this kind of plugin would be installed on day 1. But wait, that would only let players who weren't rookies or somehow had their hands on a beta earlier. Whoops! Hollow logic is hollow.
