As said so many times, if it's a part of the story, and is done tastefully and mature, even a fully covered sexual act wouldn't bother me.

However, then you have games like Red Alert 3, where Tanya is reduced to a blond bimbo from the kick-ass brunette she was in the previous games, and Natasha is dressed like a bad whore. That's done baaad. Way too much emphasis on 'sex sells' <.<

Damnit EA, if I wanted bare thighs and bellies, I'd watch porn instead.. I wish they kept meaningless sex appeals out of it, and kept it all about the whacky, out-of-proportion war between the Soviet Union and the West (Also kicking the Japanese out of the story, I for one never cared for them)
Ah that's another thing that bugs me, where they put some half-dressed chick on the front solely to try and sell more copies (eg Dead or Alive, I'm pretty sure there's no requirement in most martial arts schools that if you're a girl you need implants and a half-done-up kimono). Women don't need to be exposed (or even hot) to make me buy a game; give us a little more credit than that.

The same as in movies, if it's done tastefully and is appropriate to the story then fine, but if it's just thrown in there for shock value and has no real relevance then I have a problem with that.
Seconded. :)

It's fine to add sexual content to a game, but it shouldn't be used as a selling point.
Also Seconded. :)

I don't think it would be good if they just threw it in anywhere, but if it had some sort of relationship with the story than yeah, its fine.

I don't really think a kid is going to be traumitized by seeing computer generated tits. Sometimes, its not even that bad, they just imply that sex had just occured.

If parents don't want their children seeing violence or sex in videogames, then dont buy them the fucking game!!!!

Sex is real, everyone has sex, it's an undeniable fact. It SHOULD be in games where it's appropriate to have it.

I think an implied sex scene is most effective in a video game. We're playing something to interact with it (hear that, Kojima?) not to just watch a movie. I seriously doubt there would be any time in a game where a full on sex scene would be necessary for furthering the plot/enhancing the narrative. Plus, get very explicit and find yourself slapped with an AO rating.

Sex is fun. It is natural. Women want it as much as men do. So why cant we just accept it in our lives and in our mediums of entertainment? Just have fun with it. In fact, I'd rather play a game that had sex than one that solely focused on ultra violence. I guess I'm a lover not a fighter X-D

It's the american mentality.
Don't be so generalistic.

Video games don't even need it at all. The industry as a whole needs to grow past it's phase of awe and wonder at shiny things and explosions and sniggling like a little kid at the word penis, it needs to mature into a greater something, so that it can equivacably rival the Film Industry, so then there will be a constant deathmatch against Hollywood and VGStudios to see who can top the other in the best way possible. Just like Coca Cola and Pepsi are doing, just hopefully less gimmicky.

Mass Effect pulled this off brilliantly. The sex scene was tasteful and was not awkward to watch, even with my friends sitting besides me. Mainly because it wasn't just thrown in, it was pretty logical.

If it fits in the game, then why not?
I don't see the big deal with it to be honest.

I've "fixed" your poll. If choices can't all be covered by a poll (i.e. what's your favorite game) or has too much nuance to accurately represent people's choices (i.e. opinions that take full-blown discussion to explain, much like this one) then feel free not to include one.

P.S. Vote for nilcypher!

Put it in this perspective:

I PLAY the game to enjoy it, Not watch the game for amusement. You want sex? The internet is riddled with Porn.

Interesting, sex is a good thing, violence is a bad thing. Yet sex is more censored.

i don't see what the big problem is really... you could kill kids in fallout 1 while in a church on a mission to kill the priest and his followers...and that was what, 10 or more years ago?
I'm ok with anything as long as it brings at least some originality as i have given up on consoles after looking at my xbox360 and seeing that i have 30 games that i don't even enjoy(excluding mass effect street fighter and ninja gaiden)

What i want to play is something like those old rpgs where you had many crazy things you would end up being sued in these days
