Poll: Should Sonic go back to 2d?

Here's the thing, though: Nobody but the morons who have no idea what they're talking about WANT that. The fact of the matter is that 2D is DEAD AND GONE on consoles, and is slowly dieing out on the handhelds. If ANY series is to survive, it MUST make the transition to 3D. Mistakes are inevitable, and it's whether or not the developers learn from those mistakes that will decide. If people actually opened their damn eyes and played the games, they would see that Sonic Team HAS learned, and is STILL learning. True, some games were crap (Sonic '06), but usually the ideas and gameplay is good. Even Shadow running around spraying lead makes sense in-universe: He has amnesia and CAN'T REMEMBER THE EXTENT OF HIS POWER. If you were someone looking for answers in a world that is going through its most devastating war ever, and you were caught in the crossfire, would you not pick up a gun and fight?

Again, 2D is dead on consoles, plain and simple, and anyone that things handheld-exclusive would allow a series to live on (and in 2D) is blind to the fact that 2D is dieing on handhelds, and that handheld games do not generate enough revenue to keep a company alive.

I don't know about you, but I know at least 40 people who would buy every single one of those remakes, myself included.

I recently bought the sega retro colletion on PS3 and just found the games, I had such fond memories of, were just frustratingly bad. So sonic team should just call it a day and let us look back nostalicly.

I don't care if he was okay back in the old games, they need to removes all the characters and have it to be ONLY, and I say ONLY about Sonic.

Tails & Knuckles were around when the series was still good so they can stay
i've said it elsewhere but the ideal sonic game would be

2D Sprites or graphics like Unleashed (depending on wether it on a home console or a portable)
Old fashioned side-scrolling gameplay like the good old days
and a soundtrack either by the team who did the genisis games or Hideki Naganuma (Sonic Rush)
and a Chao Garden like SA2

It should never have left 2D. Once it started relying on Nintendo to keep it from bankruptcy, it should have become a handheld exclusive.

To true. Sega needed nintendo to avoid bankrupcy after the genisis ad-ons were absolute garbage, and after one messup they just gave up. the genisis was good, but they just gave up. Sega should try again, and put sonic back to 2D

They could bring out remakes of the first and best ones for XBLA and PSN? Those were my favourite. Also if you want to try some good old 2d sonic without any hassle just type sonic the flash game and youll eventually find a remake of a proper sonic game done in flash.

Maybe, but I remember the words of HellfireComms, "It's no the 3D fans ruining sonic, or the furries drawing sonic porn ts the retro fans who want every fucking game to be 2D.
