I live in New Jersey, we're expected to get hit by the worst of the storm.
Governor Christie has already declared a state of emergency. Maybe this'll be like Irene, but I'm not hopeful.

We don't get hurricanes where I live. They spend all their strength a few hundred miles away. Bit of rain, stiff breeze, that's all we get.

It's fun to watch everyone panic, running around like chickens with their heads cut off, as if they honestly don't remember that every "hurricane" does the same thing.

You can't buy a flashlight, or batteries, or bottled water in my area right now, the fools have already been shopping. A few days from now, when it's over and nothing has come of it, those same fools will be bragging how they knew it was going to be nothing major. Buncha hypocritical pussies.

I live in Louisiana. For once, the hurricane isn't going for me!

I'm gonna hate the water damage, but I'm beginning to love this meme.

I'm in New Jersey. I'm a mile away from the ocean, but I basically couldn't be at more risk unless I had a house on the beach. I'm glad I don't. We're getting hit with the worse wind here, like 70-100 mph. I hope my neighbor's halloween decorations don't end up crashing through my windows...

I live in Ireland! No hurricanes for me!
Now, I must go to a Halloween party!

Our weather always sucks though, how bad is this hurricane gonna be?
They're closing the New York subway tonight, has to be pretty bad to have New Yorkers do THAT >.>

OT: Living in North Carolina, not much besides some wind and a depressing sky

Grandparents live on the coast of Delaware though, don't know how bad it'll be there though
It just finished raining here, it's cold and it's nighttime...miserable looking day...
Eh, that's our typical day, it's shit even now, i don't even recall we had a summer this year!. I remember being caught in a hurricane in HongKong, i had to cling to my dads neck because the winds were so strong they'd pull me back, i was about 5. I hope everything will be alright for the Americans.

I guess that's how our weather works, we get constant shit weather and in return we don't get these crazy hurricanes. Good trade i think since i'm too lazy to do any of this survival stuff.

I live in New Jersey. This storm is currently predicted to roll right over us. We all ready had a small tree come down. Time to get my game playing in now before we lose power. It's predicted to stay out for 7-10 days.

Well my school decided to close for the day which I'm enjoying but right now there is a little wind and some light rain. I live in central Virginia and from what I've seen on the news I should be seeing 55 mph winds right now... nope. The hurricane may have swung farther north than we where expecting or it's gonna hit hard in an hour or two, we'll see.

Any case I hope the power doesn't go out i've got too much food in the freezer, it would suck if i had to throw it all out.

Flood warning till 8 PM tomorrow. Not worried since I live on one of the highest points around. Until then I intend to shuffle up the cards and let the liquor flow.

Yep, I'm in New England, we're aiming to be hit with it this afternoon. My GF is in DC, tho. At least the gov't shut down, so she isn't working.

Do you think it will reach Nizhny?

I'm not sure exactly how bad these kind of storms are, what kind of damage are you expecting in USA?

Damn, doesn't sound good at all.
Natural disasters really suck- you can't really take out your anger on anyone for them happening because they're never anyone's fault.
Hope it doesn't cause too much damage to those in its path...

I live in Northern New jersey, just outside NYC, and everything is shut down. Fortunately I live on a hill and own a pair of waterproof boots, so I think I'm set.

Just looking at the path Sandy is taking, moving out to the Atlantic and then curving in to hit us, this seems to be Mother nature giving us the finger.

On the other hand fu fu fu, you guys over there on the US coast are gonna have a wild ride, I can just tell. For me, I live on the West side of Australia, it won't effect me one cent. Now excuse me I must prepare for Assassins Creed 3...which comes out in one day. :p

I live in Florida, and for once we didn't get the hurricane. We got a little bit of wind from it on Saturday, but that's about it. They're gonna get hammered up North, though. They just aren't equipped to deal with these things like we are.

And speaking of which, I saw a bunch of heavy equipment (cherry pickers and stuff) on I-75 today, presumably heading North to help out. So if you're up there, the cavalry's already on the way.

I live right outside of DC so I'm actually watching the storm RIGHT NOW. Doesn't look too bad. For the record, I've had tornadoes go by this house so this actually doesn't seem so bad by comparison. I highly doubt we're going to drop into the ocean like New Orleans down here but that hasn't stopped the waves of residents grabbing pounds of survival materials.

I'm one of those rare people that's actually walked out into the middle (the eye) of a hurricane, and dealt with the leading edge, and the trailing end of a hurricane. I'm the psycho that's going to find a pay phone, and order a pizza in the middle of it, and see if it gets to me on time (last time, it was 3 minutes late).

That said, this one has my wife freaked right the hell out, because she's never lived through an honest-to-whatever-deity-you-hold-to hurricane. The biggest problem with this particular hurricane isn't the wind. It isn't the rain or the flooding. It's the people. People, as individuals, are fine, rational, often times logical beings. But we suffer from what's called 'Mob Mentality'. For each logical, rational being there is in a group, the collective IQ of the group falls. Eventually, the group devolves.

Living in NY (upstate NY mind you, about 20 minutes north of Albany, just outside Troy) I can say that this one is going to be one helluva ride. As to the generator 'shortage'... a few years ago, there was another run on generators because we had 3" of ice on everything. Limbs fell off the trees because of the sheer weight, crushed my back fence, took out the power for both major power companies here, killed a transformer, started fires, general chaos. Afterward, people died because of those shiny new generators they rushed out to get. They were installed improperly, and carbon monoxide poisoning took some lives. If you're rushing out to get a generator, or already have, make sure it's installed in a well ventilated area, away from windows and doors, and definitely NOT in a garage.

The way I see it, if it rains, it rains. If limbs fall off the trees, they'll fall. If there's damage, we'll fix it. Adapt, Adjust. Move on.

My family lives in Norfolk (Virginia, not England) and as usual there's a lot of flooding going on.

Also, the HMS Bounty has sunk, with two hands missing. [http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/29/14775512-14-rescued-2-missing-from-hms-bounty-off-nc-coast?lite] They may or may not have been friends of my dad--crews on those boats change around a lot, and he doesn't know who was on board when she went down.
