I call it by whatever it is named.

If it's Coke, I call it Coke.
If it's Lilt, I call it Lilt.

Well, you get the picture...

(I'm in the UK.)

whereabouts in Yorkshire, if you don't mind me asking?
Wakefield, near Leeds. Pourquoi?
I was just curious. I don't see many posts by other people from Yorkshire. (There might be a load of people from Yorkshire on here, and i just haven't noticed XD )

I call both Coca Cola and Pepsi coke (but not diet coke, disgusting stuff). Both for like sprite, fanta etc I call them all by their actual names. I don't really have a catch-all term.

I refer to them as it's brand.

If it's coca cola it's coke, if it's Fanta it's Fanta, why beat around the bush and give a term like soda?

What are you drinking?
Soda?
What kinda of soda?

As opposed to:

What are you drinking?
Fanta
Cool, I like Fanta, although I prefer Tango! :)

Like everyone else from the UK, I call it by its name! To call em collectively I guess I call them Softdrinks.

Coke or pop, depends really. If we have Coke, then i'll ask for it. If I just want to make a sweeping generalisation among all of the fizzy beverages in the house, then it's pop.

England here..

I live in Australia -

I wouldnt use a single one of the options on the list (except for coke, when specifically refering to coca cola and only coca cola), nor have i ever heard any one else ever use any of those terms.

Its only ever called 'soft drink' as a general thing (MAYBE 'fizzy drink' but rarely), or more commonly refer to each drink by brand ie. coke, pepsi, sprite, fanta, etc

My general term for it is fizzy but if we are talking specifically about coco cola then I'd say coke. But I'm more inclined to say fanta. :)

I call it unpleasant. The bubbles hurt my nose and it doesn't taste good either. Considering how bad it is for you I just don't get the appeal. Guess it's like beer or something.

Just because your post does not immediately appear does not mean it didn't go through. If you don't see it as soon as you post it, wait for other posts to appear before you try again. Otherwise you end up appearing to be a spambot ;-)

In other news, I call it soda here in Missouri. Always have, always will.

My whole family said pop growing up (parents from the midwest), now I'm the only one who doesn't call it soda; although I haven't said pop in forever, it's the correct name of the drink for me now.

In my home town of Norfolk Virgina nearly everyone called it soda, while out here in Tulsa Oklahoma they call it pop. I, myself, call it soda when I'm not referring to a specific brand (i.e. Sunkist, Crush, Dr. Pepper etc.). Hearing it called pop or soda pop grates on my nerves.
