I'm going to go with the Australian SASR.
To those who don't know, they haven't had one soldiers captured in action. 14 deaths (most from mishaps, three or four KIA) They secured most missile silos in Iraq (The ones everyone though had nukes, takes balls to do that)
They go on 3 week-3 month long desert patrols.
All in all, they are fucking badass.

Some good reading.

Go aus ^^

The Australian SAS suffer a tougher regime than they're British brothers and have long since been one of the premier combat units in the world. Whether the are the best would come to a dollar amount I am sure, but for true grit, you can't go past an Aussie.

Saw the post above mine right after I posted, can't half tell all the Aussies just got to thier computers :D

The British Royal Gurkha Rifles. They can kill a man in 15 different ways with their bare hands, and can cause people to FLEE by reputation. You do not mess with a Gurkha. Runner up would be Australian Special Forces, for similar reasons.

British SAS. If only for this rather strange (but obviously necessary) training practice: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resistance_to_interrogation

Yeah, I just wanted to mention the Gurkhas as well. They are really badass. Maybe the SEALs can jump out of a plane and blow up a whole city without anyone knowing. Maybe the GSG9 can clear a plane full of terrorists without the passengers even noticing.

But I respect those guys for doing their training between 5000 and 8000 meters altitude. A training most other people couldn't do in the thin air.

And besides: I wouldn't want a person who is not afraid of dieing attack me with this...

... even if I was a SEAL AND a SAS soldier. Combined.

Mossad..oh wait thats an intelligen- **** wrong thread xD.
Spetsnaz, if you have seen the way they have trained people its bloody scary. Pushups on broken glass, jumping into buildings on fire...etc... 0_0;
But yeah, I am sensing some bias toward the American military...

Or better, OUR Australian SAS - go AUSTRALIA! XD

I mean, come on. We have the sniper from TF2 xD...and Russia has Heavy..o_0;..and France has Sp- actually France does have some pretty darn good Special Forces...

one correction: GSG9 are counter terrorist federal police (more like SWAT), not military. they were created because the military cant deploy in germany and the police dont have the right equipment. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich_massacre] they do go on missions with the SAS and probably the other groups from time to time, so the effort might only be 75% down to one group when they operate.
i would say the Israelis do, or at least are on equal footing with the SEALs, given that they're raised in a warzone, are trained to fight from a young age and that they train the Navy SEALs in some forms of combat (probably desert guerrilla warfare and Krav Maga, idk.)
My grandfather was there. They don't have the specialisty training of SAS but damn If they have balls. Seriously they are the guys that extradited war criminals from Argentina illegally.

I am going with SAS though because they are more of an elite forces group than the israeli equivalent (mossad is an intelligence unit so yeah).

Ohh my god you are right. If asked what was the "Best" military in the world I would imeddiately reply China. So it makes sense that they have a spec ops team that makes the SAS pale in comparison (probably no experience though).

I saw a docco on this a couple of weeks ago and as a result I have to say SAS, no doubt they are all fantasticly trained and skilled soldiers though.

I'm going to have to say a tie between the New Zealand and Australian SAS. Both countries have a relatively high quality of military training and the SAS of both countries have been on high demand from the US Government for operations in Afghanistan. Plus there is Corporal Willie Apiata VC of the New Zealand SAS. He carried an injured comrade 70 metres under heavy machine gun, automatic rifle, RPG and grenade fire to safety before rearming and returning to finish the job. Imagine getting into a disagreement with this guy:
