I don't have a significant other, but I'm really a people person. I'll need the social contact. I'd be fine with a random stranger. Those are often great people.

EDIT:

After some thought I'll go for the video games. I'll only play educational games, that might realy help me with my studies.

this. also, for the people talking about the possibility of killing each other, i doubt that would happen. no one would want to end up trapped in a 4 x 4 room with a rotting dead body.

Video games by far, cus I think if u had to spend a whole year with a person in a locked room, udd probobly want to kill him/her eventually. Even if its a significant person to you (like a girlfriend/boyfriend) It would drive me crazy :p

whats really surprising is that only 57% (/at writing) would choose videogames on a "geekier" site like this... (that could mean that even gamers is social creatures, ohh the horrors geek AND social huuu..) personally I would pick number 2) A person. People can get very creative given enough, time sure you will be glad to be out of the room and meet someone else but yea a year with games well I would get bored (think being a game critic, I would stop playing games for fun and end up with a chore instead..) Although then I would probably have enough time to get in to MMO's...

There are very few people in this world I can spend a week with without wanting to kill, and I'd be concerned that I'd ruin my relationship with whoever I brought, just because I'd get sick of them.

Video games on the other hand... There are games that are over 100 hours long, and a lot that I've been meaning to play. I'd still probably get bored and go insane without some kind of electronic smack addiction like WoW(Not into it in real life, but given no other choice I might get into it for only the sake of my sanity), but at least I can look forward to playing new ones when I get out, and I'll have a respectable knowledge of gaming once I'm out.

I'd take the games.

If I'm going to go insane locked in a room I'd rather not end up murdering/eating the other person. I'm not willing to take the risk of becoming Hannibal Lector.

That's why you eat them.

I'd choose video games. Would probably get tired of the person after two weeks or so.

Tough choice.
Alone for a year, with all the games I could ever want. Does this include only games I know or will there be a list of all games and upcoming games?

Or

With a person of my choosing.

A year of loneliness would most likely kill me, even with all the games.
A year with only another person on a 4x4 meter area. We would both be dead within half that time.

If I could also have material so I could draw, design and make inventions I would be okay I think.
It would be a wonderful opportunity to improve my relationship with myself!

I'm gonna have to go with video games. Even the closest of friends go insane when they spend too much time together. Also, instead of having the games in the room, I'd prefer that they be fed through a slot on my whim, because I have trouble deciding when I have too many to work with.

Although i'm not very antisocial, I opted for the video games...
A year is a long time to spend with just one person and not a single other soul.
Eventually, with no knowledge of the outside world, topics of conversation would become scarce and eventually would have nothing to talk about.

With every game ever made. You would be given countless hours of entertainment, each game, a whole new universe to explore.

You have been selected to spend an entire year locked in a room, with no way out. When you are in the room, time will not pass in the outside world, you will not need food, water or any other things that you would normally need.

However, you do get to make one decision. You can take with you:
1) Every video game ever made (supplied to you upon request), and all the platforms to play them on, but you can't play online or have internet access.

OR

2) A person. Any person of your choosing, or have a random person selected from off the street, if you prefer. The person you have selected will not know you have chosen them, and think they are in there through luck.

You have 365 days worth of time to kill. Which do you pick?

NEW RULE: Time would not pass in the room, so the other person wouldn't actually lose any time from being in there with you, and could opt to forget the experience after it's over and become the person they were before it happened. This has been added because some posts seem to be concerning morality in regards ti choosing the second option. Although, even with this rule, it still could be seen as a cruel thing to do.

I would pick the games, if I can get every video game ever made then I could easily schedule different games for all 365 days so I won't get fed up. What would i do with the person? Talk? about what? I can hold up great intellectual and fun conversations that can last many hours but not days (especially not 365). If I could be trapped with one person AND the games then that would be awesome! Co-op action all year round!

Video games, no contest whatsoever.

You stacked the deck something fierce there. I can either have a nearly infinite supply of entertainment, or a single human being. Even if it was the most beautiful, perfect person in the universe, and they would do my bidding for the entire year, there's still nothing else in the room to occupy yourselves with!! Meanwhile, you've offered me every game in existence, past generations, too. I could kill a year EASILY with video games; Hell, I've already killed nearly a full decade of my life with them, and I still haven't played a few of the really good ones. And as for "not having Internet," PFFFT! Dude, there are thousands of great games that don't even know what the fuck Internet is, much less how to connect to it!

The only way I could see to stack things more in favor of the human is to A. restrict the game choices to a single console, and/or B. allow both parties the ability to alter the other person's form to their liking, basically to both allow for some variety throughout the year, and maybe allow either party to indulge in their (secret) sexual fantasies, since I can't imagine why you'd isolate yourself with a single human being for any other reason.

A tough question, but I'll go with the games. Having just a friend would get incredibly boring. With the games, I'll never be bored, and it's only for a year so I shouldn't have that many social/mental problems when I get out, at least nothing that couldn't be remedied in a month or two. Plus I'd get to play my huge backlog and try out some games I missed or passed on. Think of it as a very long vacation.

Depends what else is in the room in terms of food, a bathroom ect... That would have a massive effect on what I pick.

Also how broad is the definition of a game? Can some tools be considered games?
