Portal Has a New Ending

I just beat Potal and I only got the normal ending. But it was from a save file made withing the GLaDOS fight from before the update, so I don't know...

So wait, they've completely retconned the ending of the game just to set up a sequel? That ranks on the list of my highest rated and most awesome marketing strategies, up there with Rickrolling Yahtzee. Seriously, retconning something is never to be taken lightly when you consider the way in which hardcore fans will react. So doing it just for marketing for a sequel is pretty damn awesome .

I wouldn't call it a retcon, more of an expanded ending. The original ended with you outside and passing out, this pretty much is the same but with something dragging you off. Nothing is removed or contradicted.

Of course, if the rumors of it only unlocking after getting the achievement (if this ending is even real) are true, it could fall under an alternate ending, meaning we have to wait until the sequel to see which is the 'real' ending.

I'm fascinated, but the HL2 HUD makes me dubious as to its' authenticity.
I may have to try it out myself.

From what I've heard this ending only plays if you have unlocked the new transmission recieved achievement so trying it out won't work without doing that first.

I've personally seen this ending in game, though you have no more reason to believe me then the video of course.

I'd imagine you do, because otherwise, how would you know that wasn't the real ending if you got it new.

And I really don't have more reason to trust you, but if it's being claimed by more than one person, then it's more likely to be real.
Though I'm suspicious myself...

Well you're welcome to check my Steam Profile (Kanodin no 0) to see that I really have transmission recieved unlocked, and there are several other people on the steam forums that have seen it, their saying so was what prompted me to check for myself.

Hmm this is interesting. Though I gotta say that I'm more hyped about the fact that I'll be there for the awards than for what may be announced. I'd love to hear them announce Portal 2 though.

It can not be as good as the original. Impossible to re-create it. Not out of omfg is da best game evaz. But it was one of those games with an X factor. Don't get to hyped...you will be just as disapointed as bioshock 2. Same situation. I'm getting it though

Or something along those lines. The 'Party position' when you 'escaped' the fire?

I'm pretty sure it says "Thankyou for assuming the party ______ submission position." Which makes a whole lot more sense as the robot is probably 'arresting' the player character. Also, what would you assume all the words between party and position were?

Wow. That certainly was a cliff hanger. I hope they release it on the Xbox so I can play. If they don't, I'll have to make a steam account and buy it. Either way I will play this game if stuff like this continues.

Thank you for assuming the party escort submission position. It turns out the party associate was a real thing.

Also, for those crying "GASP HL2 HUD", Portal is based very much on HL2 assets. All the NPCs, weapons, items, and such are in Portal. The recorder of this video most likely used cheats to give himself everything, which makes getting to the end much quicker and easier.

That includes the HEV suit and weapons. Using weapons makes it so you don't have to aim the rockets at GLaDOS. Just shoot her and a core will drop off of her. Easy.

It is definitely 100% real, and extremely awesome of Valve for doing. Something no one has every really done before, to my knowledge.

I don't know what's up with that either. I will tell you that I have replayed the ending, and it is exactly as shown. Minus the HUD, of course. Veeeery interesting.

I would love to trust you, but I'm doing my best not to get over-hyped about this, and stay calm and rational.

I you have played portal for more than 3 hours in the past five days, that should be easily enough evidence for me.
