Er, if you tape a kitchen knife to your door, and stash another one in your room, stab him 104 times, I don't think that's manslaughter.

That's pre-empted planning to harm and/or kill, not bloody defending yourself.

We have things such as the police to take care of these things, or meet somewhere where you're not alone.

Brook claimed that Witkowski attacked him with a knife when he arrived, so he grabbed the knife taped to the door and stabbed him in the leg. That probably would have added up to an easy claim of self defense had it ended there
It wouldn't have ended there, self defence laws in the UK are not like the US, if you hypothetically beat someone up who comes into your house with a knife, you're a lot more likely to recieve a harsher sentence, even if you didn't use a weapon, if you draw even the smallest amount of blood, ie, you punch him in the nose and he gets a nosebleed, you'll probably be arrested and probably face jailtime

The only time you're truly allowed to defend yourself is if someone was to come into your bedroom

Pretty stupid I know, but our government believes they can stop gangs by banning certain colours...
Something like if the person is downstairs you can't do anythign, but if they come upstairs reasonable force is allowed isn't it?

Sadly this is near me, was a hammer attack on a few old people not that long ago too :|

The court was told that Witkowski suffered 104 injuries, including stab wounds, cuts, bruises and slice marks on his hands.
Im thinking theres more here than a text misunderstanding...
What makes you assume that??

I think "Mutter" sounds more offensive. That essentially means "You're a shit person" :(

Jesus f*cking christ, how many injuries?!

Bloody hell, but mutter and nutter...not much difference is there? He'd probably still have attacked him if he had sent the former.

Nutter or Mutter? I doubt I would take offense to either. What a stupid thing to argue over.

Well I think Predictive is a piece of shit...

But this seems just a little bit excessive, don't you think? There has to be far more to this than what they've said.

This kind of thing wouldn't happen if there were stricter laws in the UK regarding 'knife control'.

Seriously. Someone in this equation was a titch irrational.
I believe they're introducing a "think 25" thing, like the current "Think 21"

Sad story... Not as funny as the one where a dude accidentally mispronounced 'goldfish' in mandarin and told his dinner guests he'd brought his son three 'hookers' for his birthday but they died because he tied the plastic bags too tight.

...nutter seems to be quite the appropriate word here.

And are some of you seriously arguing that there aren't significant rights to self defence when someone got off on manslaughter for stabbing a man and then HUNTING HIM DOWN AND KILLING HIM WHILE HE RAN AWAY?

For the record, that's murder in almost any US court.

So the guy accidentally called his neighbor deranged, then proceeded to stab him to death while he was running away? I sense a large amount of irony.

As if knives aren't readily available to anyone who eats food to stay alive...

Although the sentence was less than 160 characters, obviously, the sentence will be a long one.

in the UK murder is pre-meditated attack resulting in death. Acts of passion are considered a loss of personal control and someone who isn't in control can only be found guilty of manslaughter.

For those talking about self defence the law in the UK is pretty clear, you can use proportionate violence (whether they are upstairs, downstairs or outside is irrelevant. That's just police making shit up to help in their decision to prosecute) the more violent the attack the more violent the reaction is allowed to be. killing is never proportionate.

I'm sorry, the headline me LOL.

I wouldn't want to be friends with these guys, if they're so damn sensitive. Grow a pair!
