I'd have to say the Kukri. Although the Sniper's Kukri from TF2 isn't the most convenient way to hack and slash through open fire, it's still a good up close and personal kinda blade. It also looks like it could be thrown with great force into something but I imagine it's not its most practical of uses. Still, it looks badass.

A sabre, mainly because its the only melee weapon I actually have any training with and thus the one I would have the best chance with.

A pair of ulaks, like the ones from Riddick, striking with a slashing motion similar to unarmed combat, they also look freakin sweet.

Something that's light but with a long reach? Also maybe adds some shock value over deep and dangerous wounds, so I can get out without killing them? And ideas?

(Although I would like to say claws so much!)
war hammers would work and if you do need to kill it has a spike on the other end, also love your avatar! yay Tai

Well I recently discovered that my father has actually been using Thor's hammer to beat out the panels on my brother's racecar. But since I lack the godly powers to wield such a weapon I'll have to go with a hurley.

Does a balisong(butterfly knife) count? It's not really much of a weapon and would probably be useless in an actual fight but damn they look cool and you could probably pull off neat tricks with it to either confuse an opponent or just to show off.

As for something more practical probably a sword cane, if that counts as practical.

are we allowed to say lightsaber, or is this a realistic question?

i guess a sword would be the most useful in a real fight.

I'd probably go with a dual-handed claymore, plus two japanese tantos for close quarter combat.

That is, unless I can have the nanosuit, of course.

I've got two just like it already, one like this one in black and another with just the plain steel. They're easy to maintain, easy to use and are pretty reliable. As long as it's weighted and balanced correctly I'll have no problem with it.

But if we're going fictional, then I'd like The Great Knife from Silent Hill 2. Not for actual combat, obviously, just because I'd love to have one on my wall or on one of those display stand thingies on my shelf. It's pretty much a machete, just bigger.

Hmmm... depends on the game environment, I guess.

But, overall, I guess I'm just partial to axes. A nice big 2-hander for open spaces, and either dual-wield smaller versions or with a shield. (And don't forget my 'dwarven arrows'... gotta have a good supply of chuckers, as well.)

::Reminiscing about my old M&B:Warband Nord in full siege gear... 8 Balanced Heavy Throwing Axes, Huscarl Shield and a Heavy Great Long Axe for when I drop in behind enemy skirmish lines... and about my Dwarven 'Reaver' (Ftr/Rng/Rog) in DDO with his array of varied Dwarven Waraxes (assorted mixtures of elemental, racial, and other bonus damage effects) for dual-wielding and his Dwarven Thrower for at-range situations::

The aztec Macuahuitl, it's effectively an obsidian chainsaw (check Deadliest Warrior for more information :p)
Otherwise, an o'katana would be splendid.

In the meantime, my 10" tanto kabar will work splendid :p
